    Brilliant camp again Chris. I know exactly where you are as I have camped pretty much in the same spot with my grumpy 18yr old lad. Love that fell as its only ½hr drive from me and views are great although the start is fairly steep unless you do the circuit in reverse. Just goes to show how the weather changes, but with the right gear and pitched properly, the take a right hammering but keep you safe and cosy. I am interested to see Ants vid aswell as I have a bobby 1 on his and Leons recommendation and still yet to test it. When I was up there last I am clearly swayed by you guys, as I did it in my vango tempest 200 but I am looking forward to trying the OEX. Keep up the good work and thanks for sharing again.

    Looks a belting tent that Chris. I'm enjoying my new Vango Cairngorm at the moment and need to get it up to its namesake at some stage lol 🙂. Good camp spot that. I prefer it to the top of Fairsnape. Better views but you just miss the sunset 😕. Definitely a better choice in the wind though cause there's nowt stopping it from the Sea when you're up on Fairsnape. A beautiful area with lots of great places to explore 👍. I know what you mean about being in your tent especially in the knowledge that it’s going to pretty stable, whatever the conditions and knowing you have all the right kit for the conditions. And on the subject of kit, what are those gloves and mitts you had with you and how good, especially the mitts, are they?

    • @MCMOutdoors

      The mitts are ace - bought them a few years back - Hestra "Kebnakaise" mittens. Extremely warm!

  • @ExploreAboveAndBelow

    Hi Chris I've noticed in a few of your videos that your gloves seem to offer great dexterity, do they provide much heat and what gloves are they?
    Great to see you out camping again 👍🏼

    • @MCMOutdoors
      @MCMOutdoors  Год назад +1

      Hi mate. The gloves in this video are Hestra Ergo Grip Active - they're great for dexterity and hard wearing - although Gore Wind Stopper fabric so great for cutting it out, the insulating properties are poor so they're not great for cold, hence taking some mitts too. Glove up for tasks, mitts when chilling in the tent.

    • @ExploreAboveAndBelow
      @ExploreAboveAndBelow Год назад

      Thanks lad, I've tried a few different pairs of gloves but but just can't come across what I need yet so I'll check the Hestra's out. A good warm set of mittens for relaxing in was simple to choose.

    • @thatunfitbloke
      @thatunfitbloke Год назад +2

      @davidhale1568 Yeh that's for sure it could be, but I generally try to pitch on the predicted wind direction and I not had an issue with that. There 2 extra guy point on both vertical sides, so I've attached extra guys. I owned the Hilleberg Unna for a while and that had a bigger area to hit if the wind changed as well. The worst I've been out in Access is about 35 mph and it was fine, just bent a lot but was fine.

    To be honest I would rather have a couple of hot toddies rather than a couple of beers but fair play, every one to their own. I have the winter GoPro batteries and was out in -7C conditions last week and only had to change the battery once and was out for 6 hours 🤔. It looked really scenic and so nice to see the snow again, something we seemed to always get every winter when I was a kid. Real pleased to see it is not only me that had a massive belly when having a Down jacket on, so nice one catching Ant from the side😁. Beef and potatoes sounded real nice and filling and looked so much better than the normal boil in a bag. Glorious morning view over Pendle Hill and despite this storm coming the temperatures sure have risen fast. Your beef and potatoes looked okay but I preferred Ant's, which looked very nice, cheers Alan

      Wow - that's some battery life ...... my Hero 7 is very old now, any cold weather and it just zaps the battery life. Cracking day on the fells - I applaud any bloke who has loose fitting down jackets and likes craft beer. ATB, Chris

    Great camp and video, Chris. Thoughts on the carbon poles on the MSR? Im considering getting a tent with carbon poles but im a bit paranoid about the rigidity on them vs aluminium.

      Thanks for watching mate. Yeah, the poles are pretty ace on this tent - they don't feel like they're going to split like others I have used, none of that dodgy creaking when siting them! The space in the tent is absolutely brilliant, esp vs the weight and pack size...... The only negatives for me are the inner first (given UK climate) and the fly not extending to floor - would be full of spindrfit in the right conditions. Those niggles aside, it's a quality little shelter.

    Hi, I was watching one of your videos a while ago and you told a story in it what was a bit scary. When you was in the fog I was telling my son about it but it would just be easier for him to watch the video. Do you remember what one it was?

    Lapskaus is possibly linked (historically and etymologically) to lobscouse, a European sailors' stew or hash strongly associated with major ports such as Liverpool. You should know that having a scouse accent! 😄

    Having a wager with my missus.
    Your pal Ant in the Bobcat has a proper Bolton accent if ever I heard one. The missus reckons it's more Yorkshire borders.
    Where's he from?

    Lol, your Scandinavian accent need a little more work, although poteter was not too bad and your au sound in Lapskaus was perhaps too British, the rest of the word was pretty good.
    Storfekjøtt, needs a little more practice, though.
    But it is far better to try and slightly miss, to not try at all. So all the kudos in the world for that. :)

    Amazing how many folks who really enjoy the great outdoors also refuse to drink shite mass produced generic beer. Someone should study that correlation!
