A wedding is between 2 people, both of those people should have a say in planning the wedding which includes inviting guests. And see this is where I disagree, a wedding is between two families. The lady isn’t just marrying the man, she’s also taking on the responsibility of being a mother figure for the daughter as Bella is still heavily a part of the man’s life. As such, if the man were to propose to Sammy and she had a child from a previous relationship, he should not hate them, treat them as secondary, etc. This notion that “oh I’m just marrying you, not all this baggage you have from the past” is what leads to issues like this. Be more open minded and compassionate

As a daughter who was excluded from being in my fathers wedding to my stepmother, I love this father. He is standing up for his daughter in the most important ways. In saying that. I was still at my fathers wedding, and while i would have liked to be part of it, it didn't negatively impact my relationship with my stepmother. Her and I were always close both before and after. She wanted her daughter and her granddaughters on her side, which made sense. The bit where the potential stepmother in this story truly lost me was trying to limit contact between father and daughter. She either sccepts that marrying this man includes Bella or she doesn't. If she doesn't accept Bella she has no place marrying a father. Good on him for standing up for his girl.

It's wonderful that he stood up for his daughter. My father is only attracted to mentally ill trauma survivors and after my mother did terrible things to me and then 404'ed herself he hooked up with a brain-damaged woman he met as she was hitchhiking at a truck stop in California then he moved into the house we were splitting without my knowledge who then mentally abused me to the point where i had a seizure from the stress and ended up in hospital. She had told me her whole life story while in a manic state so i knew all about the child molestation, her baby-daddy molesting her kid, the smuggling the daughter over the US/CA border in a plot to collect some money she believed the CA gov had in the childs name, etc. but because she told me all this while drunk/ manic she didn't remember telling me so she claims i was stalking her and background checking her and out to hurt her so she said it was either me or her while i was in hospital and he picked her so i got kicked out. She destroyed half my stuff because she insisted on packing it and he backed down and when they got married i refused to participate and told my family the whole story and they backed him as well so now i limit contact with all of them.
