there's also a roof water sealer you can put on shingles which I just did to my house and kind of Coats them in a clear enamel and keeps them together longer for a few more years until you need to replace the shingles

If roofs had pipes through them to let the air flow, they might survive.

This is just a regular roof . They gave it the nam3 fortified lol. Box vents are not recommended
