How are you getting fine strokes with a brush? I tried using a few brushes and I am always left with brush strokes no matter how many layers. Having said that, I think airbrushing is the way to go for more consistent layering and even finish.
I would agree with you, nowadays I use AB for most of the details and with brush I do only what I have to.. However sometimes, size of the head limit us for brush only. Hot toys heads should be ok tho
Thanks! I just mix my own, using white and adding washes, like brown, mostly, and a bit of red maybe, for basic white skin tone, from that I build it up as I "feel" it.

Hi. PLEASE tell me what tool you're using for the EYES? I'm having trouble finding a tool like that, with a fine point that draws with paint. Everything I find, the tip is too thick to do detailed eye work. Thanks
Hi, I'm guessing you're referring to the pencil. To me it looks like a standard mechanical pencil with a sharpened tip. If you're wondering about the irises, I don't know what he uses but there is a marker (rapidograph) for design that comes in various tip sizes, they are a bit pricey though.
What type of airbrush do you use and what brand of varnish? Does Citadel Ardcoat work? Also how do you speed up work flow with an airbrush? I always found them to be particularly obnoxious for speed purposes, have to dump the paint and swap every time.
I use Iwata Eclipse Takumi and H&S Evolution. Yeah cleaning can be annoying, usually I have a can of universal lacquer thinner and I feed it into airbrush, run it trough and clean with a tissue. Give it a try on white surface and if its clean you're good to go. I use Super Clear III by Mr Hobby for airbrush and Army painter anti shine in can. No experience with Citadel varnishes but If I paint with acrylics I always use a lacquer varnish, cause its more resistant to acrylic thinner
@@3DPainting awesome thanks! I have an Eclipse HP-CS, had some less than ideal experience in past, but I was using the windex trick, so excited to try Vallejo airbrush medium and do it again! Do you extra thin the wash type colors or is it just consistent to airbrush thinness?
If I would dilute a wash I'd say only because to soften its effect. But I dont think I ever used wash type alone, only as an addition with other paints, but maybe I'm mistaken, just dont recall
@@3DPainting ah okay I was just thinking of your earlier video using washes rather than airbrush, was curious if it's the same level of dilution for airbrush or a wash, or if you simply didn't apply a wash effect with the airbrush.
@@3DPainting well I saw you doing it applying like all the flesh colors. Everyone seems to do it professionally. Just trying to figure out if it's more control than sweeping paint across the model or not.

I have a question when you finish painting your sculpts, do you use varnish to prevent the paint from fading away over time?
Yes. Not just that, I use varnish after each step to seal progress in case something goes wrong

Its a dry pigment, similar like make up. Try to google dry soft pastel

Those are Tamiya brushes, comes in several sizes. I use extra and ultra fine tips. You can find links in video description.

Well, been a while I made this one but I would say layers. Layers of different shades put on with different techniques to create depth and structure.

@@headhunterscustoms I used a wash today in my airbrush and used it with thinner. But it not because it needs to be thinned, but for weaker effect
I was curious, is there a reason for the sporadic bursts? Zooming in and out of the model with the airbrush as you do it?
Well, thats probably part when I was doing red and brown spotty parts where you need just a bit of paint.

Frankly I don't know, this movements are rather natural to me when I paint, not doing any extra effort for that if you know what I mean
