That 2010 Lakers vs Celtics series was one to remember no doubt. Nobody really knew who was gonna win it all unlike a lot of the others mentioned. Still remember when Kobe hit that shot with Ray Allen all over him and completely shifted momentum from that point on. 2016 Cavs is the first team to overcome a 3-1 deficit against a 73-9 team.

The 2011 Mavs would have beat the 2016 Cavs, the Mavs defense was absolutley stifling and they were all veterans. That 2016 Cavs squad was just a 2 superstar taking iso turns offense, that wouldn't have gone well against Dallas. Mavs win 4-2. The 2012 Heat would have beat the 2016 Cavs as well, give me a break.

Unpopular opinion: 2017 Cavs were just as good as, if not better than, the 2016 Cavs. Their defense was slightly worse, but the offense (especially the 3 point shooting) was unreal.
It's just that the 2017 Warriors were so much better than the 2016 version. KD averaged an insanely effective 35 ppg, while Harrison Barnes was pure ass in the last 3 games. Curry did not choke like in 2016, and they also did not have the Festus Ezeli (and Varajo) problem that killed them in Game 7 in 2016.
Even through all that, Cleveland was competitive through 3 quarters of Game 2, undeniably should have won Game 3 if they did not choke it away, crushed GS in Game 4 and were in it through the last minutes of Game 5. Against maybe the most talented team ever.

As a Spurs fan, the 2016-2017 team not winning a title will be our biggest regret ever. Talent-wise from top to bottom that team was better than '14. After a disappointing loss to OKC in 2015-2016, we got deeper and more athletic with bench improvements like Jonathan Simmons and Dejounte Murray, they ended up leading us to an elimination game win IN Houston without Kawhi. Aldridge had a full season to get more comfortable and efficient with the system, and of course Kawhi upped his game even further. Game 1 of the following WCF is probably the biggest tragedy in Spurs history.

  • @rathors7184
    @rathors7184 5 лет назад +6

I disagree about what you said about the 2017 spurs vs the warriors. I believe that the spurs had a very good chance of beating the warriors in a 7 game series if Leonard didn't go out.
If you first take into account what happened in the regular season that year, we saw that the spurs won 2-1 with 30 point blowouts, in the other, they lost by 12 (albeit by throwing away a 20 point lead in they had in the first quarter funnily enough). They had a team that could consistently play the warriors.
Then look at game 1 of the series, they were up by about 20 at halftime and Leonard gets injured and they warriors win. You have to at least consider that if Leonard didn't get injured, the spurs would have at least won game 1. That would mean that the spurs would have stolen home court advantage away from the warriors and the spurs are such a good home team, especially in the playoffs. Would have turned into a different series. The warriors would have had to win 4 out of the next 6 games against the Kawhi and the spurs and that would have been very very difficult, even for the warriors.
There is no way that you can say there was no chance that the spurs can win 4 games while healthy.
Just sharing my opinion, like you said I could.

I agree. When Kawhi went down, the Spurs had no one to guard KD. In that sweep the Spurs always competed and gave the Warriors trouble. Kerr's solution is to isolate Durant on anyone guarding him. KD always shoot over the smaller guy or drove around the bigger guy. Against Kawhi he has to work doubly hard for his buckets which took much out of him. No wonder Pop was so pissed when Zaza injured #2. He knew he had no one to effectively guard KD one on one. While KD is special because of his length and scoring ability, Kawhi is much more a well rounded player because of his defensive instincts. #2 just knows how to win. Not can he only make a clutch shot, but a clutch play wheter it is a steal, a block or a rebound. KD just won when he joined the Warriors.

I think with how this FA rolled out, 2019-20 will be more interesting with a lot of narratives compared to when we had the Heat formed before the 2010-11 season.

2010- Kobe Bryant’s most important championship, very competitive
2011- Number 1 for me, Dirk had to go through Kobe, and KD in the playoffs, and Lebron in the finals
2012- Lebron’s first ring, and had one of the greatest games ever in game 6 against boston in the playoffs
2013- Competitive, and came down to the last shot, but wouldnt rank too high
2014- Not that competitive, Wade and Bosh were washed, and the spurs beat miami in 5 games
2015- Cleveland was honestly the better team, cuz Golden State came out of nowhere, and were able to beat a 1 man team. If Kyrie and Kevin Love were healthy, Cavs wouldve won
2016- An entire storyline, and a legendary comeback by the cavaliers. However, if Draymond didnt get injured in game 5, he would’ve been the difference maker for the warriors and would’ve given them a chance
2017- KD’s first ring, and everyone knew the warriors would win, Cavs managed to win 1 game, but everyone knew it was over before game 5 even started.
2018- Easily the least valuable championship of the decade, Warrioes had 4 allstars and a swept a 1 man team. It was like watching a 1 seed against an 8 seed.
2019- Raptors win their first title in franchise history, but KD’s injury is what hurt the warriors the most, and then Klay also getting injured in game 5. This ranks around the middle of the list

Raptors 2019 are a little underrated imo. Kawhi was hurt in the finals, if he was healthy I'm taking them over the 2011 Mavs

I don't think the Raptors get enough credit... Nobody believed in them outside of Canada. Hell... Even here there was doubt. Lowry was labelled a choker and showed out when it mattered most. Siakam came out of nowhere. And Kawhi ... well he was playing on one leg at times. Pretty impressive to me.

The Raptors had a great Eastern run. But the finals were a wash. They play who's in front of them. But they shouldn't have gone to 6 against an injured Warrior's with no damn legs. Every chip has luck but this ring had all the stars align for this. Even after Klay went down the 2nd time they still only won by 1.

@@milkboy2228 i don't agree with what you're saying because even before the series knowing kd probably wasn't going to play. Vegas and basically everyone had the warriors winning. Remember they were undefeated (the rest of the houston series and portland) Toronto were still massive underdogs. The narrative changed when it was apparent that toronto was the better team without kd on the warriors then it was "the rign is meaningless because kd didn't play" and toronto was also dealing with injuries but no one talks about it (kawhi knee) (lowry couldn't feel his left thumb since the second round) (og anunoby missed the entire playoffs). Let's stop with the hypocrisy and give the the champs their due respect.

@@milkboy2228 and it really shouldn't have gone 6 it could've been a sweep or a gentleman sweepif you put everything in perspective it took an 18-0 run in game 2 for gsw to win by 3 and the raptors having their worst shooting night in the playoffs in game 5 for the warriors to win by 3. But no one talks about that

I remember vividly that Vegas had the Raptors winning without KD. The narratives were saying that they were wrong because the Warrior's were better and were coming off a sweep against the Blazers. We were still in the whole "they don't need KD" bs that RUclips nephews ran with until the series started. And it wasn't just the perception going in the series itself was so much more. The injuries in the damn series were why it was so much worse than it already was. It Klay doesn't get hurt (the 2nd time ffs) they go to 7. That's ridiculous.
