Thank you very much for this super delicious sambal recipe! I made it and it really was as good as the thing I ate in restaurants! Going to make double the amount or 4x, guess it should be ok in the fridge for ...2 weeks, lol!!
I still remember last year I couldn't go home because of the lockdown. So I cooked this sambal and wrapped it in aluminum foil packaging, vacuum and seal it. within 1 week my mother received it. She really enjoyed this sambal. And again today, I opened YT ur channel, getting ready to remake this sambal and getting ready to pack it up again for this coming CNY. It's so sad that I still cannot go back to my hometown. I hope next year I can come back and cook this sambal together with my mom. Thanks for ur recipe.
This must be first time that I followed a recipe to the T. Clear, concise instructions and outcome was absolutely delicious. I am busy packing home cooked meals for my daughter returning to KL tomorrow for her vaccination from Penang. Thank you so much for sharing
Thank you soooo much for the recipe, I just made it and its definitely delicious ❤️ when I taste it, it brings me back to my roots. Love from the Netherlands.
Thank you for your effort , i am glad to have watch your video is just like my sister she uses the same ingredients as you have shown. I have always enjoyed having this dish, whenever i am back to my home town. I also love cooking my own dishes and i am going to cook the same as you have teach and however, I do like your video is precised and your explaination is clear. Very much appreciated.
Thank you so much, Lai Hwa for your kind words 🤓🤓 we’re so happy to know that this recipe reminds you of your Sister and your hometown 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 I think this recipe is not exactly the same as your sister’s though- it’s missing the LOVE ingredient 🤓🤓 Happy cooking, Lai Hwa.

Hi, I love your recipes. I was wondering if you could make the Singapore Mee Pok/Wonton mee sambal. Thank you! Rita Singaporean living in the Netherlands.
looks delicious! how long will this last in the fridge? i may try this but no dried chilli...i like a little heat but not that hot you burn your tastebuds off hahaha
Good morning Erika! This should be able to last in the fridge for about a week. Ours didn’t last long cos they ended up in our tummy within a few days 🤣🤣🤣
Hihi. The purpose of candlenuts is mainly to thicken the rempah. You can omit them since you’re not going to make curry with this sambal chilli. Happy cooking
Hi Mel, no problem. you can freeze the excess cooked sambal. If you freeze it, you can keep for months. If you store it in the non-freezer compartment, I think this will last for about a week. It's rather short because this has no preservatives added. Hope this helps. Happy cooking :o) Have a great weekend!
Thank you for this helpful video...i was wondering how long it will last this sambal (shelf life). do i need to put some preservatives or anything to make long last..?thank you
Hi Grace. We’ve not made our sambal spicy. It’s pretty easy to take. Just make sure that you remove all the seeds from the chilli used because that’s what will give you the heat in chilli. Happy cooking
Hihi. Yes please give them a rinse and then soak them until soft before using them. The liquid that you used to soak the dried shrimp can be used too but not the water that you rinsed the shrimp with.
Hi Tinny. Thank you so much too. You can keep this in the fridge for 2 weeks with no problem. If you wanna keep it longer, you can freeze it too. Happy cooking

Thank you for sharing, but may I know where can I buy the belacan in Singapore? Didn't see it in NTUC..

DO we have to wash the dry shrimps when we buy them from the shop in packets or just straight away blend them or cook them?
Hihi. Yes please give them a rinse and then soak them until soft before using them. The liquid that you used to soak the dried shrimp can be used too but not the water that you rinsed the shrimp with.
