She is the best part of this entire movie. I was rooting for Ravenna the whole time. To be fair I always prefer the Evil Queen to Snow White. But She was by far the best. They should have just done an Evil Queen movie starring Charlize.
.. and as you know they did not show that she crawled inside the mirror so she won't die and can be called out again by her siter Freya in the sequel, and cause some more havoc....

The most ridiculous thing is that the queen is far more beautiful and with strong personality than Snowwhite. Charlize Theron just owned this movie, she was the only good thing in it.
I think with Ravenna, there's a real element of tragedy throughout her character. Sure she's evil, but there's desperation, sadness and grief there too, even if its just for herself. Thats what makes her so watchable and not just like every other villan.

I think Ravenna is a type of personification of the countess Elisabeth Báthory who lived in Hungary, raised on Transylvania back on the 15th and 16th century. Even to this day she inspires great film characters, despite the terror she inflicted on her days. I wonder what that says about humanity. However, congrats for such great video to a captivating character.
I understand what you mean. Beauty is a very obvious tangible power, whereas intelligence isn't as blatant. The power of beauty lies in the fact that people are attracted to you which in turn leads them to put you on a pedestal. However, it's not all fun and games there. You're actually being viewed as an object and people will use you up and throw you away if you let them. "with great power comes great responsibility"
You know I kind of agree with some of what Ravenna thinks and believes in. People never seem to take you seriously or like you if you don't look good. If you're gorgeous they worship you.
