Folks tend to be friends with people who are similar. There is a lot more to the story of Cobb than most will ever realize. Congrats, Grandad!
Thank you. He was no saint. He would fight you at the drop of a hat. He did pull a gun on a butcher one time because he treated his wife rudely and had a few other scrapes that got Police involved. I didn’t go through all of those, but many of the ways he is viewed is just wrong. The line Joe Jackson’s character in Field of Dreams used about no one liked him when he was alive, so they didn’t invite him to play was wrong. Cobb and Jackson had a good relationship. Joe looked up to Ty as a role model.

@@stuke1976 thank you!! I really appreciate it. The Leerhsan book is really good. I messed up his name at first. lol. You could see my wheels turning when I realized I said something wrong. I used to have a client named Paul Leerhsen years ago and his name just popped in my head at the wrong possible time. Haha. Leerhsen’s book is so well written with evidence to back up what he writes. Unlike Stump who was just out to write something outlandish to get people to read it. He was so unethical that he stole some of Cobb’s items and sold them. Then to make matters even worse, he forged Cobb’s name on things and sold that as well. It’s crazy how a hack like him could write something that becomes taken as fact all these years later. Ken Burns didn’t help matters by doing his Baseball documentary and using Stump’s writing as the backbone of what he said about Cobb. Shameless hacks presenting fabrication as fact. Fantastic Cobb collection, and great analysis of how cobb really was. The Cobb book and the movie based on it was a total crock and went well beyond creative license.
