    Congrats you're the first reviewer to not have a left rudder lock and crash (unless high enough to recover) You may have gotten one that doesn't have the problem (so far) with the gyro!
    I've had mine a few weeks and it's been repaired a few times. Waiting to hear from the Seller (Manufacturer?) about a fix for the problem. Good video though!

      Thank you much!
      This Plane required a lot of adjustment before flight.
      It's very prone to tip stalls because it's extremely tail heavy and they had way too much rudder dialed in right out of the box.
      I think that's why so many were experiencing tip stalls with this plane.
      I adjusted the CG and cut back the movement on the rudder before launching so I didn't have those issues.
      Later I installed some wing cuffs which make stalls a non-issue.
      I hope that helps and I'll see you in the Air!

      @@GroundControlRC Liked your idea of moving the rudder output to the inside hole, going to set that up as well, thanks. But the gyro does have a bad glitch that causes the rudder to swing/lock way left. I've reproduced it on the workbench. But you overcame that by changing out the radio components.. Good flying

      @@GroundControlRC I'm sure a new board won't fix it because they are all bad, but I gave up on the rudder and disconnected it and pinned the rudder straight, big difference, but still had problems. Motor alignment is critical after a few crashes, Needs that right angle on it, today had my first of 15? maidens without a crash and a smooth dead stick within 10 feet of me! Glad I got the video (I hope) to prove it, because I'll need to watch it myself to see if it was true! LOL

      @@crotaflyingsolo4759 Yes, I ended up replacing the Stock Motor and greatly reducing the amount of rudder.
      It was also very tail heavy so nose ballast weight was needed.
      I got it flying very well with much more power and it was a fairly aerobatic plane after the MODs.
      I'm glad you got your flying well as this one was quite the Lemon ;-)

    I have this plane also. Mixed feelings really. Gyro's never turn fully off but it is still acrobatic. It's stable, so for me it will be a FPV platform. For real feel flying, I'll stick with the Mini T28, P51 or Corsair.

    Fun looking little plane! Given that BG has raised to price to over $130 would you go with this Skylark or something like the E-Flite UMX Turbro Timber which is $139 but also includes flaps and lights but no transmitter? Or maybe the Hobby King Durafly Micro Tundra for $99 but needs a receiver? Too many cool options out there! Love the channel!

    • @GroundControlRC
      @GroundControlRC  3 года назад

      Hi Steve! I've seen some flights of the UMX Timber and I would definitely go with it. The J3 Cub requires a lot of work and some additional money for replacing that weak power system, gyro/receiver, etc. It's what I call a "Tinker Plane". I think the UMX Timber looks good right from the get go ;-) That plus the fact that the Toy Transmitters that come with these RTF Planes are pretty unimpressive. If you don't already have a Hobby-Grade TX you can use with the Timber, I'd get a reasonably priced Multi-Protocol TX like the RadioMaster TX16S. It's my primary TX now as it's that good. The price makes it a great value and you'll be able to use it with the majority of Planes you buy in the future. I hope that helps as that's the route I would take. See you in the Air!

      Yes I got 14 on the 800 and it’s only 30g but I had to push it to get it in it’s really snug and isn’t long like the stock one it’s short and fat but once I get in it just lacks a few mm of getting in enuf to put cover on so I most the time just leave cover off and it does just fine as for the 600s they are 33g I’m goin by the specs online but I have yet to really test them since winds last couple days been shatty but they are more or less the same size as the 800s ….how did you reinforce your landing gear I couldn’t see how u did or what video …I left it dangling cuz I broke one side wher it connects to back of wheel and last night it was wobbly awful would that do that ? I ended up just cutting the other side off and taking the landing gear stunts off …I haven’t touched the inside the servos on linkage they are on outside hole and my ride is on inside hole and my elevator is on inside hole I haven’t touched the ailirions they are in middle but I was trying to give it more throw …I’ll try to loop it in 3d and it’ll go straight up and just hang there …I have to struggle to get it to loop smh only reason I got this plane is I thought it was aerobatic …if that’s the case I’ll have to get a different receiver and get rid of the xk don’t like how it won’t give you any freedom like the volentex in intermediate mode

    • @snauzze7007
      @snauzze7007 Год назад +1

      Why did you get rid of it and did you ever get it to loop? With those batteries I should be good on nose weight but again I don’t think I have them pushed in as far as I could but that was reason I got was so I could add a little more weight to nose …I need to do what u did and take out some of that foam and a little at entry point so these batteries can go in easier and I also moved esc back a little cuz it was so close to battery compartment thinking it was too close to battery I just slid it back in slit a little bit much would that affect my cg too smh …I love this plane but damn I can’t figure out why it’s wobbling and won’t loop

    I purchased the same plane from park 10 toys as well just recently nice looking plane but to bad that it’s hit and miss on whether or not you get one with a good control board. The one I have, the rudder sticks left and right and doesn’t return to the neutral position unless you throttle down. It only flew for a couple minutes and crashed. Upon inspection when throttled up all control surfaces are wandering. It’s been over a month dealing with the seller and no results from them it has not been a good experience at all.

    • @GroundControlRC
      @GroundControlRC  3 года назад

      That's a shame as it's such a good looking plane.
      This one has some serious issues aside from the gyro board which is why I didn't recommend it.
      I had to perform a lot of Tinkering to get this Plane flying fairly well.
      It was more work than it was worth for me and I like to Tinker ;-)
      I watched a very popular reviewer crash this plane (3) times during his "One and Done" Review and he still claimed it was a great flying plane ;-)
      There's just too much bad information out there.
      I hope you can eventually get it resolved with the seller so you can buy a good flying plane.
