Mateus is so fluid and effortless. His fingers surf the ocean of the fretboard so beautifully and unpredictability. Never ceases to surprise and impress.
Your breakdown of that riff clearly. Represents why you're approaching the 1M subscriber point.....i remember when you walked away from the guitar lesson gig and started sailing...thanks for superior content Paul
Paul Davids + Mateus Asato Top 10 anime crossovers Asato is one of my biggest inspirations, specially being Brazilian too and you're my favorite guitar RUclips channel. Impossible to dislike
last comment, but i watched Mateus play and immediately wanted to see if you had tackled any of his music. And you taught me a great lesson. An expert cannot be fooled . You broke that down like Mike Tyson does to his opponents. Your deep musical knowledge, thousands of hours of playing , teaching, gigging, well, the truth is in what you do.....Well done sir. Respect
Paul, the world is a better place with you here. I’ve been listening to your videos and they are just so excellent and add so much value. Your work is much appreciated.
He is! New guitar players should not only be inspired by the well known legends but also by great Internet players. McRocklin, Asato, Stevie T, Rob Chapman, Justin Guitar, Pete Thorn, Rabea, Rick Graham... the list is endless
what sets you apart is you UNDERSTAND music and also have worked incredibly long hours to perfect your craft. I have watched hours of your videos and continue to learn from you, and respect you more every time i watch you play.. You fucking jam!!!!! Heart felt thank you for sharing your talent and the amazing video production skills ...
Amazing Paul.. you made it look so easy. The way you break down the segments makes me feel like I am going to nail this lick within 30 mins lol.. thank you for the video and appreciate your effort.
you're the best online teacher! that's a great lick to start 2019 and you've broken down every element and explaining clearly like no one else!!! Thank you Paul Davis
Really amazing. When I look at Asato's video I cant even think about learning it, this is so mind blowing. But you showed that's actually possible. Great job.
Would love to see more Mateus licks! This was so great! You’re a master Paul! There are very few channels that I turn notifications on. Yours is one of them.
Ha! I was a student attending at Musicians Institute with him. He was definitely one of the handful of kids that had that "talent." I still remember him playing the Grammys with Kelly Tori or whatever her name was. Good guy. 🤘🏿😈
Awesome lesson. It's always good to watch the process of great players and see how they approach learning. That "go to sleep" advice is spot on. I play something I'm learning until I start getting aggravated bringing it up to speed, and I stop. It never fails after getting a night's sleep I can pick up the guitar and be closer to where I want to be than I was when I stopped the night before.
Your amazing tone on this vid is killing me! That guitar has that incredible woody flavor with perfect amp breakup. And awesome explanations and teaching as always. Thank you!
Been really working on my dyad shapes recently and wanted to better understand how to use them musically and rhythmically like mateus. This video was very helpful. enough detail to understand but not bogged down in shapes and description for those who already know! loved it! Great to have some of his motifs in my fingers!
Great use of actual psychological studies! Immediate pre and post sleep are the best times for efficient transfer from short-term memory to the all important long-term memory. Paul deserves his 1M! Cheers from Louisiana 🤘🎸
Thanks for all the videos Paul. I’m not the most proficient in music theory and what makes everything what it is. But your videos help a lot! I, as well as many others, really appreciate them. Thanks again!
This is one of your best video. I like it better when you limit your memes (even though they are appreciateted from time to times) but the low-in-cuts, more humane, more natural lessons are, i think, easier to digest and incorporate.
hey Paul thanks for the lesson i was suggesting that after learning a lick would you put it into application to see different approaches on how that lick can be used ? I think thats how many people might benefit in learning a certain lick
Such an awesome break down! Dude, if you could break down the main skeleton of Drown by Polyphia that would be sick! Also, Mateus Asato has a sweet guest solo on it so, combined with the bands killer musicianship, it's worth a listen to either way!
HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!💥 And thanks for making 2018 so friggin' awesome 🙏
Happy new year to you as well sir 😊
We'll continue doing the same thing for 2019
Thank You Paul!🎉

I'm a bassist but I always watch your videos. You teach smoothly and your channel doesn't have non sense jokes like others have.

Paul, the world is a better place with you here. I’ve been listening to your videos and they are just so excellent and add so much value. Your work is much appreciated.
Got it down broke it up into about 6 segments. Awesome sounds.
The more I've taught and the more I've watched your videos, the better guitar player, musician and teacher I've become. Keep killing it.
So glad I've been following Mateus for a few years. He's definitely heading towards becoming the next go-to guitarist for newbies. Fantastic guitarist

Happy new year paul!
Actually, he doesn't go down, as you said at 03:01. He does a 2 strings bend at 02:21. That's not the same as the slide from 16-14 fret
Man this was so well made!
You made so easy to follow and understand!
Lovely work!
