The E46 was a gorgeous classic when it came out, and that impression has never changed as far I'm concerned. I was about 10 or 11 when it was launched and the dad of a girl at school had a gold saloon with black door handles and the chromed retro looking wheels, and I remember thinking it looked incredible back in 1998.
I had the hard top version that i bought only a year old and it was probably one of the best cars ive owned. Ive had other 3 series, 5 series, z4, and a 750LI but this one was the best. I wish o could find another one like this but hardtop. I had the same titanium silver metallic paint and interior color. Qith the sport pakage, and the Harmon Kardon stereo sounded awesome! Is it a good first car would you say? There's one in my area for 4.5k with 88k miles garage kept I want to buy it but I've heard about the lower oil Pan leaks and other oils leaks in theres engines even tho it is the all reliable N54, if it has been garage kept I think I will go out to look bc then I know it hasn't been beat on
@@itz2klevi412 88k is low get that asap lol just check for the common e46 problems such as cooling system failures, subframe cracking and the leaks you mentioned. i paid $4300 for my e46 325i with 148k miles and non garage kept so if everything checks out the car is a come up. but as far as a good first car it’s hard to say even the 325i is fast compared to accords or other economy cars. it will need more maintenance and attention than a honda or toyota but if the e46 has sport suspension it will be 100 times more fun to drive and you will feel the comnection to the road that an economy car will never give you
