- The release date for Poppy Playtime Chapter 5 finally got revealed in the latest (and maybe last?) trailer!
Chapter 5 will release on February 18th, but the trailer might also include some more hidden lore and secrets!
As always, here is my breakdown and analysis of the trailer, including my own theories as well.

the scene with the prototype's POV reminds me of the opening scene of Coraline. Its very similar if you decide to look it up, its a group of needle hands making a doll but alongside sewing equipment, there's embalming equipment. With the doll being on the operating table it would make sense if the dev team was inspired.
I’m willing to bet that it was an inspiration for the Prototype’s POV shots.

Really hope there is a choice near the end with multiple different endings. Having to side with Poppy, prototype, or some other 3rd option after finding all the secrets.

That's exactly what I think is going to happen. I think poppy is going to have some sort of revelation that the Prototype is Elliot and she might feel some sense of twisted loyalty to him as her father so maybe give us the option to blow the place up (if she chooses to stay and rot with them) or to escape and then say something like "you know what I would choose but whatever you choose, I understand..."
I think they still have more to unpack so hopefully they do a spinoff game.
If they bring back pianosaurs then i NEED to see a bigger body bron thats actually alive

The toy on the lab table is ABSOLUTELY a Wrongside Outimal. The tufts of fur along the seams, the fact that the most of its fabric is rough (because it's the back of the fabric, not the front) and how those spike eyes look like backwards safety eyes...yeah that's a plushie that was turned inside out (or maybe never turned rightside in?) and stuffed.

Poppy herself didn’t agree with the hour of joy, because remember, the prototype lied to her. According to Poppy the prototype said the hour of joy was them escaping the factory, but obviously that’s not what happened, & even tho she hated the scientist for conducting the experiments, she was horrified & sadden when the innocent employees, the ones that didn’t know what playtime was doing behind the scenes, were killed by the experiments.
She could be lying about it
@Zane618Doubt it, because Poppy wasn’t the only one that was lied to. The Prototype lied to ALL the experiments, they all wanted freedom, but all they got was revenge on those who took away their humanity, & they’re still trapped in the factory slowly dying to starvation. This was even backed up by the song Sleep Well by CG5, the music video on Mob’s channel gives us insight from the perspective of the toys, it is canon.
Even the artwork that has all the experiments hands surrounding the human hand all reaching for the Prototype’s hand is meant to represent the humanity they all lost & are looking to regain, with the prototype being the one that promised he could do that.
@Christian_Sims there are different levels of lying. She still isnt telling us the full truth. Some toy’s didn’t participate knowingly like Pianosarus and Bron never had a chance but doubt he would have given he agreed to it. Well, sort of.
I do think that, despite all his intelligence, 1006 is pretty "naive" when it comes to his own actions because he does what he sees as necessary evil and yet doesn't fully grasp how horrible the consequences are for others (at least imo). Because he considers them necessary, he doesn't see how wrong he is (kinda like Thanos for comparison). Hence why I think he is The Fool, although the player character could also be The Fool alongside him, very differently while simultaneously sharing this one ideal : fixing what is broken.

Another thing that's never mentioned about The Prototype is that they _specifically_ protected the orphans from Miss Delight. She even admits that she knows they're protecting the orphans from her, specifically because she has (very) Bad Intentions towards them (which is why she wants to know where they are).
You are correct, now that I think about it, we really have no evidence that 1006 is evil. All they've done is 'safeguard' Poppy -- without injury and in as pleasant an environment as possible (was anybody else very surprised to enter that pretty wallpapered, well-maintained area?) -- and retrieve the bodies of the toys *_we_*_ killed or injured._ Yes, he misled Poppy, but if the case is meant to preserve her (as such cases are usually meant to do), then lying to get her into it is not the worst thing one might do (Terminator 3, anyone?). So yeah, I'm looking forward to seeing how this all shakes out in the end.
also. we can see that Poppy is in worse condition in chapter 3-4 than chapter 2 when she first came out, such as her eyes becoming red. maybe the Prototype knew this and put her in the box to keep her safe.
So then why did he kill Catnap
@BabyGirlTinyA lot of people say it was a mercy kill AKA killed him because keeping him alive would've been worse then killing him, which I mean fair, poor guy was electrocuted and set on fire for I think the 2nd time.
Counterpoint: He is presumably responsible for the Orphan Massacre at the end of chapter 4

Maybe the prototype will have the same face as Poppy and that's why we see so many copies of it.

There is a theory that 1006 wants to be reborn in a young body of orphan. He wants to do it together with Poppy.
If the prototype is so heavy and destructive that floor should be torn up, at least at the sides where it's feet are actually hitting. Walking through that hallway and seeing two tracks of divots and crushed linoleum would be a cool sign of his presence.
I THINK EXACTLY LIKE U😮 but like...maybe bc the prototype was "evolving" with the body, like, tearing apart and put it itself and now is more heavy than in the past I think...

Something you've not mentioned, and it's kinda shocking, the prototype clearly had plastic tubes with the poppy gel stuff. Maybe the reason he's short on time is because he requires constant supply of it and even with all the poppies, he needs more and more gel every time he refreshes it in his system as he's becoming resistant to it like the human body does with medications meaning for some medications to work, occasionally, you need higher doses of it. And given that he is a 'prototype' it makes sense he's going to have flaws that future experiments, i.e poppy, doesn't. So the tubes we see the gel in, could be him recharging himself. Yes it's likely to be part of creating new bigger body creatures, but that doesn't rule out the possibility he NEEDS it too and time is running out because he rapidly approaching the tipping point where he is going to die and his work will go unfinished leaving whatever his end goal might be, unachieved.
Also, poppy holding certain information back could be nefarious, it could also be due to fear of if we find out, we'd refuse to help. She's a child still remember. Children aren't rational thinkers and are prone to mistakes because they view being rejected, told no or getting in trouble as something to be afraid of. Prototype is still the big bad for me here. Poppy could be evil, or unintentionally bad, but is ultimately still, in my view, the 'good' actor in the situation. Again though, it's not unusual for good characters to withhold certain information to try and protect the people helping them too. Just because she's hiding something potentially, doesn't mean she's bad.
The ending of Chapter 2 is why people think poppy is bad, but i agree on the fact that she’s still a child and probably has not right idea how bad her some of her desisions can be.
Shes was good with Ollie and Kissy and Ollie was there with her a long time ago (and if you think the prototype was always ollie the who is really the main villian here).
That's probably the biggest question I have: the prototype. The prototype for what, exactly?
@vfrqzty6730that's the one question I'd like an answer to with Ollie. I don't think she ever spoke to the real one, but prototype did, because of when she asked if there ever was an Ollie, he responds with yes, but that was long ago. In my mind, that suggests he spoke to Ollie, Ollie died or got adopted, either way he's not around anymore or 1006 took him prisoner to abuse the trust poppy had in him, so it's possible Ollie is still around held in a case like she was maybe, and he used Ollie as his covert way to keep tabs on poppy, that's how he knew about the plot to destroy the factory. The story has some high stakes, I just hope they can deliver a satisfactory ending to it. Or at least lead it to a good jumping off point for another game they have planned, assuming 1-5 are in effect 1 complete 'game' just released in chapters.
@Wimp555 by the looks of it, The Prototype might've been made for military use. If someone had the idea of using this kind of technology to make sentient machines just by transferring the mind and soul of someone and it had already worked previously, e.g Poppy, then why not? That might explain why it worked for someone like The Doctor and why he didn't need to be conditioned. There hasn't been many adults changed into toys in this series apart from the scientist who was transferred into Bron and forgotten who he was, so hopefully, we might get a broader idea of what's going on.
I think having a robot perform the surgery was also Playtime CO’s cowardly way of separating themselves from the actual act- “hands-off” if you will. I think it was also the scientists way of coping so they didn’t have to actually perform the surgery, rather they would get to observe.
Another reason could be that they’ve already made it clear in previous chapters that they saw more usefulness in machines and toys running things so they wouldn’t have to hire and pay for more labor.

Make me wonder, were the children are put in cryosleep of some kind, because they wouldn't exactly be kids anymore?
They probably won’t age somehow. If we saw some trapped,traumatized adult people who were the orphans here that would be hella weird.
My guess is that the prototype has already been using them for experiments

They probably are in a perfected version of the poppy fluid/red smoke where their bodies are being preserved/held in stasis. Whether they are still alive/can be woken up is another question. At this point I think it’s a coin flip as to whether we find out all the orphans are gone now, used as experimental test subjects, or are safe in some sort of sleep machine.
13:14 it completely separates the people from the horror of what they’re doing too! Like; oh I’m not the horrible surgeon who keeps failing these children, it’s just the faulty bot! Keeping them one step removed from it. Chilling really.

We finally got the official date and Title of the Chapter, the Yellow Hand is Real for the first time, and we got 40% of the Prototype with the Knife Reflecting his Forehead that could be the Jester and Fool but it’s giving me Bron Vibes thanks to FusionZGamer, I can’t wait for the Time we get to see, “Home”.

the prototype can’t really hold things very well- like who could with those hands, but maybe they built the robots to help with surgeries for more control over intricate things that they can’t do with their hands.

8:34 him being heavy is probably true but it could also just come down to how small his ‘feet’ are bc small area = high pressure and all so with that small of an area with as much force as he looks to step down with could very well break the concrete without him being heavy

Does Poppy need to eat? A huge part of the series is about everyone starving, but Poppy lasted for years alone in the case. Are they trying to perfect what makes her not need to eat to survive?

I think you're wrong about Poppy being the ultimate villain in the series. GoT reference? Yes, that's a stretch. I think Elliot Ludwig is the Prototype, the Hour Of Joy was so he could get his hands on the resources to complete his golden path thing, not for freedom in any sense of the word for anyone but himself. I think The Theater Incident was a trial run for the Hour Of Joy. I think the Prototype has multiple parts that were kept apart like the Doctor's organs and that he was partially locked out of the Labs during The Hour Of Joy, part of the whole point of the HOJ was so he could reassemble himself before completing the final step. I think Rich and hopefully Stella sabotaged him and caused the HOJ to fail. And that's why we're here. To give the Prototype the last things he needs, including Poppy, grabpack parts, opening doors, turning on the power, diverting the gas, so he can finally complete the golden path. The Toymaker has made us all his toys.
I think the title is a reference to FNAF 4's ending. This might also be a stretch

I think the wrong side outimals i think is a clever idea from devs. This is a perfect way the game devs can show us hpw the poppy gel helps the toys come "alive" but seeing what happens normally inside the toys, but on the outside of the toys... also very creepy looking like veins on the outside!!!!🎉❤

The Prototypes POV also hints more into that he’s more, if not all, mechanical with some organic bits like General Grievous. His view looks like an old camera, maybe yellowed by age or he has a built in light on his head.
i hope they make the chapter more difficult. making the enemies not instakill makes it less threatening. also the jumpscares & environment i hope r scary too, along w/ the scenes involving the experiments being memorable

17:24 THEORY: They are not making references to got but rather CORALINE imo. The prototypes hand is almost IDENTICAL to that of the other mother. Both her and the prototype are making toys/puppets. She also was supposedly coralines savior from coralines pov but instead of giving her a good life and freedom, she wanted to keep her in her other world trapped which almost exactly mirrors what the prototype did. Not to mention the prototype also took on a parental role (yes he’s referred to as catnaps „god“ but god is referred to as father in the bible also).
I’m not saying that the prototype is pure evil like the other mother but it has to be a reference since the hands look too similar to be a coincidence (not to mention they seem very unpractical and I’m not sure if playtime co would actually use such hands on their experiments) also the prototypes BODY is basically a copy of the monster baby from TOY STORY. Maybe another reference as well?

Its pretty simple, mob didnt reveal the prototype full body becauss they keep it for the final gameplay trailer, they doing this before with catnap in the teaser trailer (what condience the thumbnail is same as chapter 3 teaser that introduce us to catnap, but its prototype hand torn mini catnap instead)
Also in the chapter 4,they reveal the chapter name and the release date in the doctor trailer because he was the main villain of that chapter, in fact they still keep this since chapter 2,3 and 4 and now 5
But hey, it just theory if they still keep the pattern

Also if true that 1006 is Elliot Ludwig there is a chance you're theory is right that 1006 is not necessarily evil but I think neither is Poppy the true evil were the doctors, scientists and CEOs that knew about the project and kept it going and ignored the immorality of it all.
The prototype is definitely evil, he's killed a lot of innocent people
@ellamiller2289that's true hour of joy killed a lot of people that didn't know about the project or deserved to die but think of it like this if any of the staf ran off to the authority and reported the company to the authority. And if the same authority investigated the company you think that government wouldn't continue the project or find an use for it or even experiment on more kids/people.
In short they are collateral damage.

@ellamiller2289 well obviously not when there were no police reports or police tape around the main entrance hall (don't blame me blame the writers). Also I don't defend 1006 but still the last chapter we tryed blowing up the factory and that probably would have killed a lot of toys (that were once children) we are doing the same as 1006 what's necessary in our own plans.
Also I'm not saying you're wrong if 1006 is Elliot that would mean that the prototype started the project for his own selfish reasons and put his daughter in a constant loop of suffering in that toy body that totally evil in a selfish way.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. I think the Prototype is a Prototype Grabpack and is the one that called you to the factory.
I gotta say I’m really happy tbh the release date isn’t too far away. I expected it to be way farther.
imagine if we get a player voice line near the end of the game and then you can play the rest of the game in 3rd person and can toggle between 1st and 3rd person
I honestly think that in chapter 5, Poppy is going to find out that the Prototype is her father and that that's going to play a really big part in the ending of the game.
She haatteess Prototype, but loves and desperately misses her father. (Presumably from the tape we heard of poppy saying that she misses her father and wishes he was still there we can safely assume that she doesn't know the Prototype is her father, since he didn't tell her so he could still be near her as father and daughter so he wouldn't scare her off when she sees what sort of "monster", in her opinion, he's become)
Perhaps the game might have some sort of choice at the end, if we're still going along the line that Poppy still wants to blow the place up so she decides to give us the option to blow the place up or maybe even escape and maybe says something along the lines of "You know what I would choose but the choice is up to you and whatever you decide, I understand." ... you know, like if she chooses to stay and rot with them vs escaping with us (had she not known the Prototype is Elliot)
My favorite Fall Out Boy song, Hum Hallelujah, has another great quote that also ties into your theory. "The road outside my house, Is paved with good intentions, Hired a construction crew, 'Cause it's hell on the engine". The Prototype being the one initiated everything with the experiments, then hires individuals to continue the work cuz it took such a mental toll on them {him? Did we ever truly get the confirmation that it's Elliott) , and then continuing on because at the end of the day, the dreams to save someone is never ending.

The area that’s potentially a conditioning room, reminds me of where Hydra conditioning the Winter Soldier in MCU.
They also corrupted a good person and did scientific experiments on him- HUMAN experimentation, cutting him open etc. trying to create more of him and making him the best villain to mindlessly do their dirty work for 70 years….
That scene with the Prototype turning the knife and us seeing a face like shape is a strike in the column of my theory that the Prototype is going to have an upper human body as part of its design. A mechanical body with a human body at its center. This would naturally be the human who was turned into the prototype. When we see Catnaps shrine to the Prototype, one of the things that caught my eye was the human staff member attached to the front of it. I think that was accurate to the real Prototypes body. He was the first made of his size so I can see, after creating him, the company discarding the idea of including the original outter human form. I think this would be because it looked too scary and grotesque aka not what they wanted for the factory. It could also be because the human form began to deteriorate as we see the human face reflection looks yellowed and haggered. The human part probably looks way worse now after all the years it's spent in this form.

Most of these toys are basically trapped, some have reasons why they didn't leave
The only ones who I'm confused about are Mommy long legs, Kissy Missy , Nightmare critters and Boxy Boo since they were always free
Miss Delight and the Doctor aren't toys and even then they couldn't leave even if they wanted to ( mostly Miss Delight)

you can see the similar between Poppy Playtime and Troll hunter tales of arcadia(a cartoon series). where the human capture and torture the troll(in the past), those trolls who fight back to protect other was described as evil and those trolls who being protected were coward and run away and blame it on those "evil trolls". Then the troll hunter (the main character in the series) was human and protected the coward troll and defeat the "evil troll", just like how the main character(who's a human) in Poppy Playtime doing through the entire chapters

I could definitely see the robots making more sense when you consider the relationship between the Doctor working with 1006. He was in the system, using his knowledge to improve progress while essentially leashing him from doing reckless things. I believe the doctor has influence amongst robotics within the Company and I think that is why the experiments are having surgeries performed by robots. Because even though the doctor is in the frameworks, it is still him performing the experiments x

Perhaps I have not gone down the rabbit hole far enough. But why is there still NO mention of Leith Pierre? I think most people assume he died in the hour of joy, but why does no one think he survived? If I sound slow please just educate me! lol I love getting into these fan theories.

Here is a theory. when you see the red tubes lowering the gel and the next scene your see the prototypes hand with the red wires/tubes. I wonder if that has any connection or is it just wires.
With the prototype holding a scapel oddly I took that as indicating perhaps they're improvising and either used to or are trying to copy the surgeries they witnessed
In the scene with the wrong side outimal lying on the bed and blood is splattered on the wall, that looks like the exact same place in the short where we saw the wrong side outimal run past the character pieces on hooks and seemingly get incinerated.
I'm still a firm believer that Poppy is innocent also Justice For Pianosaurus and many other bigger body toys like Bron, Cat Bee,Candy Cat,Boogie Bot, that cardboard cutout of a flower (insert proper name here) from Chapter 2, technically Bunzo Bunny and many more
