- Drake has finally broken his silence on Kendrick Lamar’s massive sweep at last night’s Grammy Awards, where Kendrick walked away with five trophies-best music video, best rap performance, best rap song, song of the year, and record of the year-all for his chart-topping hit “Not Like Us.” In an unexpected twist, Drake dropped a fiery diss track of the same title, claiming that Kendrick’s decision to call him out was precisely what propelled Kendrick to such staggering success. According to Drake’s barbed lyrics, if Kendrick had targeted any other rapper in his verses, he never would have bagged that triumphant quintet of Grammys. Fans have been abuzz on social media, debating Drake’s assertion that the Grammys rewarded Kendrick simply for taking aim at him, thus shining an even brighter spotlight on his West Coast rival. While some argue that Drake’s words reek of bitterness and jealousy, others suggest he might be onto something, pointing to the longstanding narrative that rap beef drives headlines-and headlines attract awards. After his track was released, critics and fans scrambled to dissect every lyrical jab, searching for hidden messages that could shed light on the real reason behind Kendrick’s award-night domination. Meanwhile, Kendrick has mostly kept quiet on the matter, seemingly content to bask in one of the biggest nights of his career without fanning the flames further. Industry insiders are already predicting that this rift between two of hip-hop’s most influential artists could escalate into a full-blown feud, potentially lighting up the summer festival circuit with explosive, headline-grabbing performances. Whether Drake’s diss will overshadow Kendrick’s legitimate achievements or simply be remembered as a tempest in a teapot remains to be seen, but for now, the buzz surrounding “Not Like Us”-both the Grammy-winning track and its brand-new rebuttal-has hip-hop fans riveted.
Drake’s dad, Dennis Graham, has shared his thoughts on Kendrick Lamar’s Grammy wins for his hit diss track “Not Like Us.” Lamar, who’s 37, had an amazing night at the event on Sunday, February 2. He walked away with five trophies, including Record of the Year and Song of the Year for his hit that calls out Drake with some pretty serious lyrics. Drake, who's 38, hasn't said anything publicly about Lamar's wins, but his dad, who's 70, has spoken up. “I really don’t care about that stuff,” Graham said to TikToker Joy of Everything when she asked him about Lamar’s wins after the Grammys. “Doesn’t have anything to do with me.” Wishing him all the best, dude. I’m not into that nonsense. When he was asked about the award show overall, he just said, “Excellent.” Lamar, in his victory speech for Record of the Year, took a moment to dedicate his win to Los Angeles, highlighting the neighborhoods of Altadena and Pacific Palisades that were affected by the fires. “We're gonna dedicate this one to the city,” he said. “This is my area, the place that’s been there for me since I was just a kid.” So, while I was in the studio working hard to write the best raps and everything, you know, to create tracks like these. Lamar gave a shout-out to everyone in the Palisades and Altadena, saying, “This really shows that we’re committed to restoring this city.” On “Not Like Us,” released last May by the Pulitzer Prize-winning artist, Lamar brings up Drake’s rumored connections with younger women a few times. “Hey, Drake, I’ve heard you’re into the younger crowd,” Lamar raps in one line. He continues to poke fun at the “God’s Plan” artist’s studio album Certified Lover Boy, teasing: “Certified Lover Boy?” Certified pedophiles. The artwork for the song shows an aerial view of Drake's mansion, and there are sex offender targets placed over it. Drake jumped right in and released his track “The Heart Part 6.” In the song, he pushes back against Lamar’s claims, rapping: “I’ve never been with anyone underage, but now I get why this is the angle you’re really going for.” “Just to be clear, I feel really disgusted / I’m way too respected / If I was involved with young girls, I’d definitely have been arrested / I’m way too famous for what you just suggested, but that’s not the point / It’s obvious there’s something more going on here-like those deep cuts that never really healed and have now gotten infected, you know? He adds that. So, last month, Drake decided to sue his own record label, Universal Music Group, which also happens to represent Lamar, over some defamation related to “Not Like Us.” Even though Lamar isn't mentioned in the lawsuit, the filing suggests that Universal was aware the pedophilia allegations were untrue but decided to prioritize corporate greed over the safety and well-being of its artists
