    Script writer here! Listening to this audio made me very sad, Xailey, which I think is because you did a wonderful job. Very sad this sort of thing happened in real life but this audio was fantastic, thank you for doing it.

    Why you gotta do this to me Xailey? It's an awful period of history where this occurred and it's very possible this interaction happened many times. God I'm sad now and I really don't want her to die. I'm almost certain there are a few ways she could be snuck out!
    You did a really good job of portraying her sad acceptance of her fate. I spent pretty much the whole audio wanting to hug her.
    Love your work as always Xailey! How dare you make me sad!

    The moment she protested being rescued, I knew what her logic would be. I really want there to be an alternative, but she isn't wrong. Worse, they'll all just say she "bewitched" the listener into freeing her. Witch Trials had the most self-fulfilling logic ever.
    Thanks for the audio, Xailey.

    I love the editing on this and what a great script! Daily what really got me was when you said you would just close your eyes and let the darkness take you . That was great acting. I would have been a little tighter with my lips about the people in power condemning me, but I can see this character has accepted her fate and cares for the listener

    As a elemental wizard I confirm that us wizards are super stealthy even if we use our powers that's why the public never knew the existence of wizards until the DnD game was invented and became popular that includes Lord of Rings.

    As a historian i would like to give some context.
    "Witchhunts" as exist in modern psyche werent a medieval phenomena, rather before the middle ages or after.
    The roman empire persecuted witchcraft and saw curses as attempted murder. Thou many roman intelectuals daubted magic as a possibility. (also needs to be pointed out that romans belived their religion as not a religion but absolute truth and things like prophecies and myth were just facts)
    During the middle ages and rennesaice the catholic church fought against the belief that witchcraft was even possible.
    And magic itself wasnt seen as a crime but rather a toll which could be used in a crime.
    For example 16th century executioner Franz Shimdt recounts executing a woman who was scamming people claiming to give them gold with the use of magic only for her magic to turn out fake. The scamming was the crime, but the magic was seen as a multiplying factor.
    The modern conception of witchcraft comes from early american colonists in particular the "salem witch trails"
    Since we are living in a world dominated by the USA and american culture, the modern conception of witchcraft and witchhunts is based on the very specific american folklore perspective, rather than a wider cultural view.

    • @xaileyaudio
      @xaileyaudio  10 месяцев назад

      Thank you for sharing this! You're right, the only witch trials I'm aware of is the salem witch trials.
      I do like the fact that magic wasn't seen as a crime. If that's the case, did they have mages with apprentices back then? 🤔

    • @stanisawzokiewski3308
      @stanisawzokiewski3308 10 месяцев назад

      @@xaileyaudio We need to keep in mind that before industrialisation focusing your entire life on a pratice that isnt exactly frootful like "magic" would result in you starving, since if you dont work you dont eat.
      Alchemy was a pratice since there was some real science in it.
      So "mage" wasnt as much a profession, since fake magic wouldnt bring you income, unless youre scamming people like that woman Schmidt executed.
      SO there wasnt many dedicated "mages", thou there were some people might indentify themselves as such, and create a buissness around that claim. There were alchemists, althou we would call them chemistry teachers these days.
      It would also likely depend on the culture of the region and the local folklore. I mentioned a central european example, of someone being trialed not for magic but rather for the magi turning out fake.
      I pressume it would differ from country to country.
      If you were doing "magic" and it wasnt a threat to your local communitylike curses and such, but something beneficial, and it was real enough to bring you income then presumably you'd take an aprentice, BUT we in the modern day likely wouldnt call that magic, we'd likely have some scientific term for what this practice was with our modern understanding.
