    Fun fact was supposed to be replaced with action orchestra but the creators loved it so much they kept it

      Goddamn glad they did, because this was fucking perfection.
      I need someone to do a proper animation of USS Washington vs IJN Kirishima to this song.

      This is tempo is exactly what'd you expect to be used in actual battles too.
      War musical instruments are an important part of battlefield communications. It can set or break the set battlelines of a fight depending on what the music tries to convey

    I love the irregularity of this the best. It keeps a tight theme but it is simultaneously chaotic and disturbed, like battle.

    Adama: "Starbuck, Galactica! Starbuck, Galactica, what do you hear?!"
    Starbuck: "Nothin' but the rain!"
    Adama: "Hint: grab the gun and bring the cat in."
    Starbuck: "Aye aye sir!"

    What I love about most of the music from battlestar, and particularly the battle scenes is how it conveys urgency and most of all escalation. A real feeling that the battle is unfolding and becoming ever more urgent and intense as more weapons get in range. Only in the orginal Star Wars films have I ever been on the edge of my seat like that before.

    Music is as intense as the battles themselves, which, unlike Star Wars, actually feel more scientifically plausible as far as deep space physics are concerned. They are also entertaining to watch for me because I cared about the characters deeply, respecting them as if they are actually collectively our ancestors in a fan fiction universe.

      Of course star wars is not possible, its a goddamn sci-fantasy, can't blame them, it would be a long way for humanity come that far, perhaps a few millenia

    I think Bear worked on the mini series before taking over sole composer duties for the TV series. He worked with Gibbs. I've been trying to figure who did what. I like to know these things, but at the end of the day whoever put the Galactica music together is a damn genius. So say we all!

    the drum beat is almost like the core for all the battle scores that followed in the series. Bear McCreary did a good job emulating Gibbs and added more spice to the style.

    The Storm and the Dead is one of the best tracks from the miniseries. McCreary wrote a track that has motifs from it called Deathbed and Maelstrom.

  • @kuribayashi84
    @kuribayashi84 13 лет назад +1

    @gptvproductions According to Gibbs Commentary in the Booklet: "He (McCreary) did a great job interpolating my Themes and in particular nailed the percussive writing, while I was concentrating on themes and logistics." So, basically, Bear already worked with those Taiko-Drums then and thats the sound that carried over to the Series.
