I know the Vantage isn't the best modern sports car and certainly has some flaws but.....having only seen a few in person, they are mega cool. Huge curb appeal.
Vantage wasn't worth anything ever. You could get a 30K dealer lease on these, before expenses of course but something absurdly cheap like that, they weren't selling so they just started giving them away basically. If I could afford the expenses, Vantage would be my go to, I mean you couldn't get a BMW M4 comp for that caper lol.
If you listen to interviews with the designated F1 pace car driver (champion GT car driver) he talks about how he is on the absolute limit and the drivers behind him are still complaining about him going too slowly for them to keep heat in the tires. So at that level of motorsport, 25 HP will absolutely make a difference.
the Aston vantage one of my favorite cars I've ever owned. not only the best looking car on the market now (e tron gt and mc20 aside) but its surprisingly capable around a track and on canyon runs - Was not only keeping up with but beating porsche GTSs and GT3s (see Grand Tour time of it equalling the gt3 rs around the track). Amazing do everything exotic almost super car that gets overlooked toady. Sad I let it go.
The thing with the mode button not always responding, I wonder if that's intentionally ignoring the first press to avoid accidental presses? Or is it really just that bad?
@@norbertsobotko1790 On my 2020 Vantage, the trick to the button is to hold it in for a moment. An instantaneous click doesn't register, so just hold it a moment longer.
Not a kid. And no, there's nothing crazy as there is essentially no difference in driving a Vantage compared to any other car. Actually it's easier as most learn with manual cars, since they have to take the test with a manual car in order to be allowed to drive manual cars when they get their license.
more negative camber isnt a double negative because you can have positive or negative camber so its two completely different things camber isn't always negative.
Aston martin's strenght is in beauty and style (the image or perception at least). When i look at their current line-up i can't see any of that anymore. I would rather have the amg gtr with more power and a dct and less ugly wings.
Around 12:00 wouldn't they just hold the clutch packs a bit less than fully open to transfer torque during shifting? Torque converters cannot decouple on their own. They CAN(and will) run the transmission fluid through the stator (actually running the fluid backwards against a higher pitch set of vanes) at 0MPH (for multiplying torque to get the car moving over mechanical rolling resistance). Now keep in mind I've been awake for a long time, and I haven't exactly read the ZF gearbox technical manuals, but it's just something that went through my head. You change a torque converter from regular to High Stall to keep it in gear to a higher RPM, but when shifting the clutch packs do all the work of decoupling the engine from the tires.
Love the video! Question - would tunnel runs sound better with windows up? Currently with windows down it seems to clip more than give accurate sound on most TST videos. With windows up, you'd hear the difference through the cabin still? Maybe?
it's not less camber; it's more negative camber. This isn't math. One direction is positive and one direction is negative. More negative means more in the negative direction. Less camber would be closer to 0, in either direction.
I know this is nitpicking but There is no point in doing the tunnel noises if you don’t take the camera out of the car. All we hear is wind. They were doing it for a little while but have now stopped once again.
The chronic Aston issue. It’s good but ………… just not there. Never great. Never number one. Just has a fancy name and a cache but it’s never at any pinnacle of any aspect of a sports car. Had one for two years and agree.
I disagree, the name is fine. I agree, the badges are cheap. For a true F1 experience, they should have taken the flat-plane crank from the GT Black Series.
"knob bashing" again? As an owner you get to know them shortly! As a sports car driver I don't wanna fiddle through menues on a screen; I want to press a button or a switch and get a result.
Jesus, the 'old' in here reeks. Giving shit over a couple of badges. Christ, did you forget what fun was??? I'm a die hard Mercedes man, and I find this thing absolutely beautiful and more intriguing than a GTC or GTR. Also, one thing you can't get with a Mercedes is a total 12 year unlimited mile warranty, so you can thrash the car like it was meant to be.
Generally not feeling this Aston. It's hard to imagine myself saying it, but I don't care for the styling, engine sound, or general vibe of this car. And the wing is so, so bad. And the beltline is just absurdly too high.
The extra 24 HP is to help offset the weight of all the F1 badges.
Sigh people need to understand torque is more important.
Fun fact that Pontiac used to advertise in the 60s. Torque wins races and HP sells cars.

Aston Martin Vantage AMG-,
as opposed to those Mercedes' AMG's "+" versions.

Why did you sell Aston, if I may ask you !
DBS Superlegerra need some performance updates too, not sure why AM is sleeping on that one.
The entire line up gets a refresh for 23-24.
Aston Martin is barely surviving as a company. They can't afford to design more than one product at a time.
I'll never get over the fact that this costs about 50k more than it should
It costs a Mustang GT more than it should

The DBS Superlegerra is extremely beautiful.
going to get this after it drops in price a bit more, coming from an r8 - 'different is better sometimes'
Looks like the wing was placed about a foot too far forwards
We don’t mind you being a little critical because in the UK we find it a little bit embarrassing too.

does the ZF 8spd pair better with the 4.0 than the dual clutch in the AMG GT?
