    I like quotes from Spec ops: The line so much... This game changed my mind... It's so great... A real experience and a great TPS
    "It takes a strong man to deny what's right in front of him. And if the truth is undeniable, you create your own." John Konrad
    "To kill for yourself is murder. To kill for your government is heroic. To kill for entertainment is harmless." - Loading Screen
    "The only villain, is you. It's only you." Hallucination of Lugo
    Lugo saying "Wow. If I wasn't a hardened kill' machine, that mighta hurt." Later saying, "HE TURNED US INTO F***ING KILLERS!"
    "Every minute we waste could mean the difference between a soldier going home alive or in a body bag"- Walker being right, although doesn't realize that it's all his fault
    "Gentlemen, welcome to Dubai." -Repeated by a couple of characters, then is said in a said in a nightmare "Welcome to hell, Walker."
    "The truth, Walker, is that you're here because you wanted to feel like something you're not. A hero." -John Konrad
    "I'm done playing games, John,"- Walker
    "What are the eight scariest words in the English language? 'We're Delta Force and we're here to help!'" -Radioman
    "Where's all this violence coming from? Is it the video games? I think it's the video games."- Radioman
    "The US army does not condone killing unarmed civilians. But this isn't real, so why should you care?"- Loading Screen
    "This is all your fault." -Loading Screen
    "Do you even remember why you're here?" -Loading Screen
    "How many Americans have you killed today?" -Loading Screen

      The true outcome of the game is believed to be determined by the choices made during the game, followed by the screen transition during cutscenes.
      If the transition turns white it means Walker (by extension the player) made the right choice (or in this case we made the choice Walker would have in order to survive)
      However if it transitions to a black screen it means we've essentially created a time paradox. Normally, Walker would have made this choice if it had been feasible to him at the time, but was so driven by revenge didn't consider the consequences of his actions.
      Which means the scene where Walker executes the angry mob of civilians that strangles Lugo is actually the Canon option because again, Walker is so driven by revenge he's not willing to let that slide.
      At the end though, Konrad is basically explaining to Walker that he followed down the same path originally, and since Walker was so determined to follow in his footsteps, ultimately paid the same price for his failure.
      When you think about it Walker is simply thinking about what Konrad would have done to survive, and how the only way he walks out of Dubai alive is to become the monster he fears the most.
      To put it simply, Konrad is basically Walker's alter ego, trying to save him from himself. And the part where he says "you can still go home" is his way of telling Walker now that he's found the strength to confront his inner demons (as noted by "it takes a strong man to deny what's in front of him) he knows the consequences of the choices he will make from now on.
      The cutscene where Walker dies fades to a white screen, which is basically saying Walker goes to heaven, whereas if it fades to a black screen he goes to hell.

    Something great about this game, is that it has dialog during in-game that changes throughout the game. Especially the commands you give. You start out sounding like a true captain: _"Priority target, focus fire!"_
    Then towards the end, once shit hit the fan, you're basically screaming at your men to kill the enemy: _"TAKE DOWN THAT MOTHERFUCKING SNIPER!"_
    It really shows how the mental state of Walker changes throughout the game.

      James Robbins um, I hope you know you're actually dead the entire game. The game started with an in media res, and Walker very well died in the crash. So, the entire game you're actually reliving all of Walker's memories and the things he did up to the point of the helicopter crash. And then everything after the point in the game of the helicopter crash, is Walker's own personal Hell.

    Spec Ops didn't really sell THAT well. It was marketed too heavily as just another generic tactical shooter (which was obviously the point), so people didn't buy it until word of mouth spread (thanks mostly to the Zero Punctuation review).
    Besides, even if they DID do a sequel it'd probably be a totally different story (the Line itself has no connection to the other Spec Ops games, after all).
    But yeah, a sequel is probably unlikely in the near future anyway. So no worries there.

    • @cpt.martinwalker6268

      @@14031993 I don't know exactly, but I don't think he said anything about it either. He just said that the development was painful. Maybe it could be because of having to make a dark and masterpiece story, and the top notch voice acting must have took more than they thought, or maybe a combination of several factors that made it difficult.

    I hope you guys all know that you are actually dead the entire game. The whole game you are just reliving Walker's memories, the chaos "horrible" things that Walker caused. That's why the game starts with an in-media-res. Walker actually died in that Helicopter crash. Ever notice how he's all calm, well not literally, then after the helicopter crash, he starts to experience extreme insanity. Also, ever notice how no matter what choice path you choose, every choice you make ends up being bad and having a terrible outcome. The only actual good ending at the end of the game is for Walker to kill himself to end the horrible memories. He's living his own "purgatory" per say, so the only way to end and cleanse himself of the chaos that would of never happened if he had just followed simple orders to retreat, is to kill himself. That's why there's so many endings because Walker is just going to keep reliving his horrible memories over and over again, keep living his own personal hell until he decides to kill himself.

    • @Wveth
      @Wveth 8 лет назад +5

      +Alan Shiroda, many writers worked on the game. The one who said he PERSONALLY thought Walker had died also specifically said other interpretations were valid. And all the writers DON'T agree that Walker is dead. And I happen to agree that it would detract from the story.
      For someone who claims to take a writer's word for it, you sure didn't read it very well.

    • @M4A1BestGirl
      @M4A1BestGirl 6 лет назад +1

      That much is obvious. The first helicopter scene was merely a flashback. When the cycle repeats itself, Konrad says: "Welcome to hell Walker" which is a pretty clear indication that Walker burned in the crash.
      Furthermore, he is unable to differentiate fantasy from reality, and his vivid hallucinations are all because Konrad is trying to advise him against whatever course of action he is trying to take, so it's safe to assume that instead of hearing Konrad's voice on the radio, he heard his own. (Note the final mission of Walker standing across from Konrad) The reason I believe Konrad was Walker's "alter ego" was because an Intel file in the game diagnosed Konrad with PTSD, the same combat disorder Walker soon learns he has. Another reason is because Konrad (The REAL Konrad) was found dead in his office. If Walker aims the gun at his reflection, he ends up dying as a result of Karma or whatever the case may be. If he shoots Konrad, he hears him say, "you can still go home" which I believe is because Walker finally understands the truth: There is no escape.

    • @Cygnus_B
      @Cygnus_B 6 лет назад +3

      Games like this are art, in the sense that the "truth" is irrelevant to discuss, for it is personal to each person, such as Walker's beliefs throught the game.

      (Unless they're the ones licensed by other artists, like Bad Vibrations)
      I don't even know if we have official names for it. Some people give this video's "The Battle" other names like "No Values" or "Welcome To Hell, Walker", and etc.
      Same with "Sniper Combat", also being called "Riggs' Theme".
      Hell, even more, there's MULTIPLE versions of these songs. Some shorter, some including other segments, some cutting it down, etc.
