This music/soundscape is a piece that was inspired by Aztec mythology. The title Cōātlīcue is the name of an Aztec goddess and is roughly translated into "[she who has] the skirt of snakes". She is the patroness of life and death and the guide of rebirth. I chose the title and artwork before starting the song, and the two inspired me MASSIVELY while I composed this... Michele Parisi made an incredible and haunting painting here in my opinion.
It ended up 15min long and I thought since it's somewhere between music and soundscape it would probably be nicer to loop it a few times to make it into an uninterrupted background ambience.

Recently, I watched a philosophy teacher talk a little about the myths and the stories of the aztec people (and many others from the region) and how they were completely ignored in our history books - noting the fact that we, from brazil, are pratically neighbors and we don't know anything about them! While we spend our whole lives in school studying european and american background, we don't get in touch with this amazing culture that lived/lives so close to us;
Anyways, i'm amazed Adrian, as always, just found it curious the perfect timing for me, and how it might bring me a little closer to this culture, thank you!

I cannot express how excited I was when I saw you posted this! I studied Coatlicue in college in art history and pre-modern world history, and have been obsessed with learning about her ever since, so seeing this was indescribably awesome! I think this fits her so well! As always a fantastic job!

Really takes the mind back to those times and places ... so glad some more cultures get explored on the fantasy/music context. Medieval Europe is fine, but especially these older, mysterious cultures have many to tell us.

Please note that "for free" only applies to the usage license. Music is my full-time job and is where 100% of my earnings come from. So no matter what you use my music for, whether it's commercial or non-commercial use, I appreciate that you purchase the music instead of downloading it for free. Many people misunderstand this part so I need to clear this up. I love making music, but if everyone would just get it for free I would not be able to pay rent, so please understand. It was always my dream to make enough money to survive with music being my only job, and that is only possible because of people who go and buy that music.
Remixing, sampling and other forms of altering the original song into a new piece of music is also generally not allowed unless the remix is 100% non-commercial and labelled with the original title and author of the song (me). Adding bird noises, nature sounds or similar things are allowed. So if your project is non-commercial or a RUclips project, just give credits and there is nothing holding you back from using my songs. It sounds really good. I wish youtube would stop dropping commercials in these longer music things every five minutes. Not hyperbole, I measured.
I fixed it, thanks for reminding me! YT places ads automatically wherever it can when I upload a new video, and I have to manually go into the settings and disable ads mid-video. I did that now, so in the middle of the video there should be no ads anymore now. That setting resets btw automatically every 30 days, which means every month I have to remember to go through ALL my videos again to disable mid-ads again and again. Super annoying.
