My album GAME ON! is available now! lnk.to/TG_GameOn
    #PeterKater #NewAge #TinaGuo #Piano #Cello
This entire album was recorded live, totally unrehearsed, and improvised in one afternoon. Peter and I connected over Facebook, and had never played together previously as we thought it would be the purest improvisation to have no preconceptions attached to the music.
We met for lunch once to discuss the plan in Burbank... I ate a Tuna Melt, haha.... and the second time we got together was this day recording at The Bridge in Glendale. We had it filmed since we knew it'd be impossible to try to make a music video for anything after since even we would have no idea what we played! We were both grateful and amazed that the album was nominated for a Grammy for Best New Age Album in 2016.
Random Fun Fact: I was sick with Bronchitis on the day we recorded this album but already had everyone and everything booked so we just went on with it- except I ended up getting super sick that night and it turned into Pneumonia, which then lead me to being out of commission for almost 2 months... but it was worth it! I think??? Probably wouldn't do it again but oh well! Lesson learned in pushing a little too hard 🤓
It was such a rush though completely in the moment improvising together in real time, with every track completed in one take. Touring with Peter in support of the album afterwards was super fun too- we would pick a key and vibe and just play- not the same tracks as the album, so something new and different every show. We also took audience requests of "vibes" and would just riff off of that too.
If you like this video, please share with your friends/family. I'm so grateful for your support, thank you. Have a wonderful day!

There are moments in life when you are frozen dead in your tracks in the awe. Stumbling across this video is one of those moments for me. Tina I have been a fan of your music since stumbling across one of your RUclips videos some time ago. I have been (until now) less familiar with Peter Kater. When I learned that this album is pure improvisation, and then I listened to it, I am just overwhelmed with unspeakable awe and respect for both of you. I cannot conceive of what it must be like to have such talent, feel, instinct and empathy to create what you two have created here. But thank you, thank you for sharing it with rest of us mere mortals.

I never really listened to music like this until I heard you're version of dragon born then I looked at some more of the music you do and I found myself falling in to the embrace of raw and untamed emotions that made a tear roll down my eye and for that I thank you Tina Guo

    Dear Tina,
The sad part is that I saw you perfom live in Gdańsk on April 30 during Hans Zimmer's Live Tour. I was mesmarized by the whole show and by your performance in particular. That verion of "The Da Vinci Code" with your chello was played during my first wedding dance a month later. I was at the concert to see Hans. I tried to meet him and thank him for the 20 years of musical joy he's given to my life. Of course, I was not successful due to security reasons. If I had known you before I would have tried to meet you, too. I regret not doing it. I won't make the same mistake. I'm glad to be alive at the same time people like Hans, Peter and you are, so I can adore the fruits of your talent and hard work. I wish you all the best in this world! Thank you!

This is so beautiful. I've been playing piano for seven years, and I used to play cello in 4th, 5th, and 6th grade, but the rental money got too expensive once my mom was diagnosed with MS, so I had to give it up. The cello is my favorite instrument. Thank you for this piece

Interesting duo. I discovered Peter Kater at the public library years ago. His album Moments Dreams and Visions was too jazzy for my taste at the time but somehow stuck. I won't do the injustice of pretending that I am an aficionado (never took music appreciatuon) but I really like the feel of this piece.
