  • In this video we will talk about our visit to Graceland back in 2008. We will cover the history of Graceland and show you some photographs form our tour and visit.
Graceland is located in Memphis, Tennessee, about 10 miles south of the downtown area. It sits along Elvis Presley Boulevard, a section of U.S. Highway 51S which was renamed in 1971 in honor of Presley's residence there. The land was originally owned by Stephen Toof---the original builder of the house. Mrs. Ruth Brown Moore, Toof's granddaughter sold the property to Presley. The original buildings are now joined by several structures housing museums centered around Presley's life and career, as well as the Heartbreak Hotel and Graceland Crossing, a center for souvenir and memorabilia shops.
Driven by increasing fan attention to seek a more secluded and secure place of residence, Presley purchased Graceland in March 1957 as a home for himself, his parents and his paternal grandmother. He paid $102,500, and his family moved into the house in May, though Elvis himself was filming "Jailhouse Rock" and did not spend a night in the house until June.

I have been to Graceland 2 times he put bars on the windows after the Tate murders. I was there in 2011 and 2017. I can feel his spirit there other people had said the same thing. I saw him in person in 1975 and 1976 had tickets to see him in 1977, but sadly he left us. We were 4 rows back center stage. When he came out he was the most beautiful and handsome man I ever saw. I Love Elvis so much. Thank you

You are so lucky. I was born in the mid 1070's so I wasn't old enough to see Elvis Presley during my lifetime. I wish I had been .

I visited Graceland in 1990, and I was standing at the grave and felt that there was some commotion or excitement with the crowd --- it was PACKED. I thought maybe a celebrity had stepped outside and was doing a tour. And I looked around but didn't see anything going on. Then it gradually dawned in me that my chest was heaving, and, oh, wow, I was sobbing, but I didn't even realize it. I felt it was his presence entering the area.

Jesse Garon is not actually buried at Graceland. Vernon could not remember where he had buried him in Tupelo. Of course, now, Benjamin and Lisa are now buried behind Elvis. The night before he passed, he took the Stutz out for a visit to his dentist. The Heartbreak Hotel has been torn down. The smaller plane is lemon yellow and lime green decor. When I was there in 06, in the car museum when you walked in, John Force's car and Rusty Wallace's were there.

Someday I will see Graceland, thank you for sharing❗️🫶🏼👻 Now that Lisa’s daughter has it she’s planning on opening up the up stairs to the fans❗️🤯👍🏼🫶🏼 So now I guess waiting is turning out to be a great idea foe me! Lol I would love to connect with Elvis’s spirit in his bathroom. That’s what mine and my husband’s channel is on, the paranormal. FYI you’ve got yourselves a new subscriber too❗️😉👍🏼

The guard at the guard station is his uncle his Dad's brother. They did build a big hotel beside Graceland. They also have a wedding chapel. Thanks

The stairway in the Jungle Room does NOT go upstairs to his room. They take you to the rooftops above the jungle room.
There are other stairs that lead from the upstairs to the kitchen.

It's interesting to talk to locals who were young adults in the 60's. They'd run in to Elvis when they were out with friends and just have a regular conversation, like he wasn't the king of rock n' roll. Lived there for several years, but only visited a couple times. The Sun Studios tour is neat too if you ever get a chance to go back.

Should've done a lot more homework before doing this. The apartment was never the trophy room and his grandmother never lived in the apartment. Charlie Hodge, his friend and back up singer lived in that apartment. Actually the apartment was over to the right back corner of the house. Looking towards the back of the house. You can now go in that and its part of the VIP tour and is a place to rest and cool off and see other Elvis artifacts. The bedroom with the purple was originally his parents room , but after his mom died his grandmother , Minnie Mae moved into that bedroom. The trophy room was always just that even when Elvis was alive. It also housed his jumpsuits and also a slot car track. He enjoyed taking guest to that room to show off all of awards and trophies and gold records. His dad, Vernons office was never the smoke house. The smoke house is actually the small part where he had the target set up for shooting. I have been to Graceland several times, the last time being August of 2022. A lot has changed even across the street is different than was back in 2008. There was only two ways to get upstairs to Elvis room and one was the main stair case. The other was the stairs through the kitchen. The stair case in the Jungle room did not go up to his room. Those stairs took you outside to the sun deck on the back of the house. I actually have some pictures taken at Graceland and a couple of them do show figures looking out windows where no one should've been. One from his bedroom looking out actually does look like Elvis, but who knows that it is.

Pricilla opened Graceland for tours. Lisa Marie was only 13 when the home was opened.
Marty Lacker and his wife and children lived in the apartment above the garage for several years. Elvis eventually bought them a trailer and placed it on the grounds after the Lacker's outgrew the tiny apartment.

If we didn’t put covers on all the seats - People would touch them all the time - and in time body oils and handling would ruin the Fabric and it would start to rot away from people not observing the - Do not touch signs - I know we still have the signs up - if we didn’t people would rip plastic into in time also -

It wouldnt be a good idea opening the upstairs that was hes private place hes spirit wouldnt want people gawking at where he died and some fans would do just that everybody respect their privacy and Elvis wouldnt like that or gladys spirit would be throwing ppl down the stairs except family.
