    Amen brother- I'm a recovering heroin addict (10+ years of freedom!), and got baptized at a Celebrate Recovery meeting at our church...I am a work in progress until the day I join HIm...one day at a time, one moment at a time! Laus Deos!

      Victor, they don't read the Bible well. Acts 2:38 is an answer from a Jewish man to Jewish people about murdering a Jewish Messiah. It has absolutely NOTHING to do with Gentiles.

    • @victoronyt

      David Hoffman I respect the point you made but kindly disagree. Acts is the only book in the Bible written to non believers. It is the only book in the Bible that outlines the plan of salvation... What it means to be saved.

      @@seekerofconsistency . Keep reading my friend. V39 says who the promise is for...even as many as the Lord our God shall call.
      Than jump to Acts 10:43-48 and read what Peter commanded of the first "gentiles". "And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord."
      No other name my friend. We would all do well to obey God's word. :-D

    1st Peter 3:21 baptism is very necessary for salvation.Ppeter said in acts 2:38 repentance baptism in Jesus name for remission of sin and receiving the gift of gods spirit.Baptism was so important that he came across believers an asked if they had the holyghost an they said no how was you baptized.under John they said he told them they must be baptized in the name of Jesus.acts chapter 10 acts chapter 19.

      Mike, 1 Peter 3:21 is mentions that baptism is a LIKE FIGURE. It is not necessary for salvation. Try reading 2 Timothy 2:15.

    The Bible says Baptism saves us, 1Peter 3:21; washes away our sin, Acts 22:16, is for the remission of sin, Acts 2:38. We put on Christ in Baptism Galatians 3:27. We are buried with Christ in Baptism then to rise in new life in Romans 6:4. Is John 3:16 wrong? NO! Because we believe Christ and His teachings we do as He commands. Faith in Christ isn't just an assent of who He is, we must believe all He teaches. We are told to repent for remission of sins Acts 2:38 ans also to confess Christ, Romans 10:9-10. Does faith alone save us? YES!, if we understand how the Bible uses faith. We also get the gift of the Holy Spirit in Baptism, Acts 2:38. If we don't have his Spirit we are not His. Their were no denominations on the Day of Pentecost and 3000 were baptized for the remission of sins on that day. They were just Christians.

    @theydontknowmeson007 8 лет назад +1

    Water dog heresy, you're sealed in Christ when you ask him for salvation (Romans 10:13). Acts 2:38 was for Jews who sought signs.

    • @onlytruthintheworldkjv6311
      @onlytruthintheworldkjv6311 Год назад

      Were the Samaritans (Acts 8:16) or Cornelius (Acts 10:47-48) Jews?
      Also, was the book of Romans (and all the subsequent epistles) addressed to sinners telling them how to be saved, or saints/the churches who were already saved/washed from their sins by obeying the Gospel of Jesus Christ that everyone in the book of Acts did?
      2 Peter 2:2
      And many shall follow their pernicious ways; by reason of whom the way of truth shall be evil spoken of.
      Luke 7:30
      But the Pharisees and lawyers rejected the counsel of God against themselves, being not baptized of him.

      Did anyone in the book of Acts throw their hands up to Peter or Paul and say "woah woah now, that's "works salvation" man. I already "accepted Jesus as my 'personal Lord and Savior " and repeated a "sinner's prayer " I'm good I don't need to be baptized..??!
      No! Because they had never heard of such foolish false doctrines -( because they were inserted into the "churches" some 200 years ago by the Jesuits of Rome and wicked men like D.L moody and Billy Sunday & Graham).
      Take heed that no man deceive you.

      In fact, baptism in Jesus’ Name is part of the new birth experience. See John 3:5, Mark 16:16, 1 Peter 3:21.
      In addition, in 1 Corinthians 6:11, the Word of God speaks of the washing as part of the reason the Corinthians no longer are sinners. The Greek word for “wash” is a derivative of two words (appears to be a compound word in the Greek) that mean “to remit” and “to fully bathe in water.” Sounds like water baptism to me.
