    I'd love a direct comparison between the X3 and the Mantis. Trying to decide which one to buy. Heavy rider, sinker board, 10-16 mph winds, focus is on wave riding, I am not patient and don't want to have to tack repeatedly back to the breaks so need solid upwinding and speed from my wing. Im guessing Mantis but note the X3 has dual inflation with the boom being super-stiff and they brag about low end pulling power (sinker board and heavy)...

      Hey Paul, I have a video coming for this but since you are not patient ;)... For you I'd strongly suggest the Mantis V2. It's lighter, faster, more balanced, better upwind. The Mantis is sufficiently stiff for me at 195lbs as long as you pump it up enough. I think the recommended is 7-8 but I typically go straight to 8-9psi on the 5m.
      The X3 is great for people that want lift and grunt. Mostly those newer riders or sometimes jumpers. It's also got great visibility for people riding in a crowded area.

    I think a difference with respect to boom stiffness and PSI is that the cross-wing has 2 much smaller diameter boom tubes so they need to have higher PSI to generate similar stiffness. The force from the air pressure is distributed over area, so a much wider area tube has much more force n total. The mantis has such a wide diameter boom they may have decided to keep the simplicity of single inflations since the pressures would be similar.

      For sure Jack, that is why they "can" do it but you still miss the additional advantages of independent inflation pressures for higher winds and the safety of two separate bladders. Just my 2c, it works great but I do still prefer the dual point inflation on all wings. -Tucker

    Wich Wing do you prefer? Mantis V2 os strike V2?

    • @MACkiteboarding
      @MACkiteboarding  Год назад

      Ohhh, good question. Both excelent wings but I'd say the Mantis is better suited to me as a heavier rider (200lbs). The handles are placed more ergonomically for more powered riding and the frame is stiffer with a stronger canopy. The Mantis V3 is even better with the new handles and I'm anxiously awaiting the Strike V3 with some changes which might make it one of my favorites. - Tucker

    How does it compare to the new Units?

      Excellent question, Derek. 🤙🏽 At first glance, I was thinking the same thing. I'm sure Tucker is already planning on getting the Mantis and Unit on the water for some side-by-side comparison. -Aaron

    Ah ha...I happened to notice someone riding the Reedin Wing in the background (at 6:23). Is that a MacKite rider? If yes, curious to know when you'll be reviewing the Reedin Super Wing X.

    Could you compare the Mantis V1 vs V2 so that we know the difference? EDIT- YOU ALREADY ANSWERED THIS Question in another video. Great! (the new features of the V2 video)

      They are super fun as well. They can get a little cumbersome when pumping the 7m but after some adjustment it's all good. -Tucker

    Is there any way to tell what pressure is in the wing with that check valve inflation they have?

    • @MACkiteboarding
      @MACkiteboarding  2 года назад

      Your wing pump will tell you what pressure the leading edge is while you are pumping. Although, those are hard to trust. I typically just go by feel and sound. Always keep an eye on the seams. I typically go 1-2 PSI higher than recommended as well, especially on cold water days. -Tucker
