  • I decided to film this more informal video while we were still on vacation last week at Disney World to share how I organize a hotel room. We stayed at the Wilderness Lodge for the first time and loved it! Check out MHWL for my Disney World travel vlogs if you're interested. I've also posted links below to the specific videos I mentioned in this video. I hope to be back with new home organization projects soon! Thanks for watching :)

    To those who say this is a waste of time, this kind of organization actually SAVES time in the long run, because you don't have to waste time running around the room looking for stuff you need for the day. And at the end of the trip, you don't have to worry about leaving anything or getting a bill from the hotel for leaving the room too messy.They were there for 8 days, so a little extra time at the beginning of the stay won't hurt them at all. You only need to do that once in the beginning.

    I love to have things organized, but I can't, because I love to do many other things with my free time. And when I'm on holidays, I certainly wouldn't spend time worrying about my hotel room's organization! Girl, relax and enjoy life!

    I cannot use hotel drawers either! I keep my drawer items organized in my suitcase. When my children were small I had to use them for space. I brought Clorox wipes to clean them, then lined them with clean towels. Jen, love the laundry bags.

    I always pack things in cases as well. Not only does it keep things tidy, but keeps everything together in one spot, making it less likely to leave something behind. I usually do not unpack my clothing though. I never travel for formal purposes, so all my clothing can remain folded neatly in my suitcase, hanging only coats or jackets we don't need at the time. I also pack for my husband and my son, so I find it easier to keep all our stuff in the cases. I always have a snack drawer too! :)

    Nice video, we throw change in one of the cups/glasses provided and often the daily tip is left, stacked on a post-it *HOUSEKEEPING* and any remarks like 'remove toiletries.' Since we prefer our own products, I throw them in a bag and leave it under the sink. I mostly buy earrings and small pouches [like zipped watch holder] as souvenirs since small, packable and needn't be tacky. Each time I wear/use I remember the fun, joy & sunshine.

    Wow. I am ADD and just recently found out. That is my dream goal, the heaven of cleanliness. Where you always organized like this. It is just mindblowing. And your life must be so full of activities cause you dont have to search for anything, it's right there. I'm happy I found you. I will follow your activities to get better myself

    Love this video!! Thanks. While staying at the AKL last year things in the room got out of hand and I spent so much time trying to clean and get things in place before Mousekeeping!! We were 4 adults in one room (live and learn). This time it will only be two at Wilderness. I'm going to use all these tips!!!

    Envelope* some great advice and tips there Jen. Plus, I also like to keep toiletries in a bag, they just look so much neater and de-cluttered. I have not started to organize my own belongings now as you have inspired me Jen. Thanks! :)

    I love it, After seeing your other hotel organisation video, I have now adopted the same routine. I pack my bags nicely and I unpack at the hotel. It really helps and you have a great time too. You don't end up looking for things in the pile of mess and it also helps the cleaning service too. Thanx Jen. Love the video.

    I really enjoyed this video. It is now one of my favorites of yours. I'm glad you touched on leaving the cleaning staff cash each day. I do the envelope system as well. Most people don't do this. I use fold up hanging travel organizers for our toiletries hang them on the towel bar. I pack 2 over the door shoe organizers one for shoes the other for hair items brushes bows flat irons etc for my daughter & Ii while we are at Disney. With a family of 5 in 1 large room I like to stay organized

    I have always tried to organize the hotel rooms we check into....and just like you, I like everything to be neatly put away. My husband disagrees though...he says holidays are for complete rest and I should just let go! This was a great video - thanks!

  • @EEN63
    @EEN63 11 лет назад

    I'm not Jen but I usually tip maid service $1-$5/day. If you leave it out every day you ensure the proper person gets the tip & helps to ensures a job well done. With service 7 days/week & shift changes, staff are assigned to different rooms/floors all the time. So, the one that kept your room spotless all week might have a day off on the day you decide to tip. Last day tipping is usually reserved for cruises where you have assigned service people. Use a percentage with waiters & spa services.

    I agree with this. saturdaynightsalrite and shannonxo are the only two youtubers I know who were not afraid to show their underwear drawer. I mean, really it is no big deal. But I guess everyone should just do what makes them comfortable.

  • @WithWonder
    @WithWonder  11 лет назад

    It usually takes me about an hour to lay everything out & whittle it down to what I'd like and then possibly another 20 minutes to pack two big bags. It usually takes me an hour to pack everything back up when we're on our way home.

  •  11 лет назад

    Great video. I live cash on the bed with a thank you note to the lady that cleans my room. I usually only unpack clothes that goes in the wardrobe and shoes. I keep my underwear and feminine stuff in my luggage. I never use the desk to store my clothes. My husband does but I don't like it.
    You do carry a lot of stuff when you travel. I am sure you were very prepared and you have everything for your vacation. Disney is so fun!!!

    I always check for bed bugs and Lysol everything. I hang clothes and sometimes use drawers but I put my underthings in large zip locks so I don't worry about them in drawers. I usually just stage all my junk (earphones cords change snacks extra items like Kleenex etc) from my suitcase on a luggage rack or from the table/desk. My toiletries are in a hanging bag and it hangs in the closet except when I'm actually using it. Everything has either a bag or ziplock to be in.

    We go to WDW every year and stay on property. Our closet at the Grand Floridian had a table with a safe on top and a couple of cubbies. We are a family of four. My husband, me, our 22 year old daughter and 24 year old son. I took keep all of our stuff put away. So much so the staff told me last time she thought we haven't arrived yet because nothing was out. My husband does laundry on vacation always and WDW is no exception. We also have two queen beds and a pull out sofa on the rooms.

    i can't get past the tongue scraper is on the guest soaps that someone else may eventually use (unless you're taking the soaps home). I have a funny feeling housekeeping doesn't throw away brand new unopened soaps.

    Lots of great ideas! Thank you for posting this "bonus" video. We use pillow cases for our laundry bags. I will be reviewing this in the future before trips. Thanks again for filming it. It is very helpful. You two had a really nice vacation. I chuckled at your comments about the heat. I live south of Disney. It does get very hot/humid/sweltering down here. You would laugh at me right now, it is getting down to the low 50's at night and I am not a happy camper at all. Freezing!!! Lol

  • @EEN63
    @EEN63 11 лет назад

    Bonus videos - Thanks! I like that you make yourself at home as much as possible in a hotel room. I wish I could do the same. I hang up everything but leave all the "drawer items" in my suitcase (mostly because of my own issues with hotels & the thought of bed bugs & who knows what.) Yes, I saw the TV programs where the high-end hotel maid washed the glasses with the rag she cleaned the toilet & I don't want any part of whatever those black lights show either! YIKES! I should never watch TV!

    I had seen a great hotel tip here on youtube & it was to pack a power strip for hotel trips, that way you can plug in all your devices on the hotel desk - rather than trying to find outlets, in hotels theres usually only a few outlets. I thought that was handy tip!
