  • It’s good for you! Your ancestors knew a thing or two about the use of plants and nettles have incredible powers. They can stave off the cold, cure illness, stop you being struck by lightning, generally stimulate the senses and even cure baldness!
I discovered his whilst researching an ancient cooking pot for an Antiques TV Programme many years ago…the things you learn in the antiques business!

My grandad tried all sorts for his baldness, including cow manure. I think i'll just put up with being a baldy.
Your a handsome man, no need for adjusting.

In my childhood (in the 50s), summer coach trips from Bolton used to include Morcambe and nearby Heysham. There’s nothing much going on in Heysham these days, but way back then, there were tearooms and other shops and stalls on the old village track leading to the seashore and most sold bottles of homemade nettle beer or nettle drink. I can still remember the taste!
Sadly, the whole area seemed to decline in the 70s and 80s (from a tourist point of view), it’s more of a retirement area now - no nettle drink to be had!!

Gosh, that had be reminising , as a child in 1980 & 81 , we stayed in a static caravan in Heysham , there was a little pitch and out and crazy golf (if my memory is correct 😂). Then in the daytime we would travel up the road to Morecambe. We were extremely lucky with the weather too. Happy days. They had a new sun centre which was fantastic, but because the weather was unpredictable it fell into loss making decline in subsequent years.

@@damianleah6744 In the 70s (probably later as well), Heysham Head at the top of the nearby hill had an amusement/cafe development with, strangely, a butterfly house. You went in and somehow the butterflies couldn’t escape - big exotic varieties; I used to take my younger brother and my gran in summer for a day out in my old banger.
It all closed coinciding with a big new car park being built near the village, when they started charging to (unbelievable, but true) ‘cover the cost of paying a traffic warden to check that you had paid’, because there wasn’t much of an attraction to merit paying a silly parking fee, Heysham and Heysham Head declined rapidly and new houses built on the site. 🥳

Stinging nettles..blood flow stimulation. I doubt it will grow hair, but it'll sure feel like someone's been at you with nasty chemicals.
