I'm HOOKED!!!
This show.. is a masterpiece.. it is light, humorous, and joyful, but in some episodes, it gets heavy, makes you contemplate about a lot of issues, and beautiful. - from someone who just watched ep 10
We are
You should watch IT'S OKAY NOT TO BE OKAY ,MOVE TO HEAVEN and ITAWEON CLASS.
The first two that are also very good talk about autism and the third is the best Drama I've ever watched.
#LoveFromBrazil 💚💛
If you liked this you can watch move to heaven. It's good😊
We all are!
I am Korean and would like to let you guys know those words when she introduces herself. Those words, wild goose (Gi-Ro-Gi), tomato (To-Ma-To), Swiss (S-Wi-S), Indian (In-Do-In), shooting star (Byul-Ddong-Byul) all mean the same pronouncing backwards in Korean, just like her name itself (Woo-Young-Woo).
ohh, so that's it. I just started watching EAW and I have no idea why she always say those words when she's introducing herself. Thanks for the info!!!!
@@huhhhh-0_0 🤗
Oh my gosh it makes sense now!!
I love her even more 💓
@@caramel_frappe Enjoy the rest of this beautiful drama. 💜💜💜
@@장명순-m6s oooh best believe I am🤭
she eats vertically without check. that's made from dad, but when eat a meal made by other people, she eat it horizontally. because she need to check : )
That is insightful. I didn't even notice that. Thank you.
Very insightful
That's right. Actor Park Eunbin (Young-woo) suggested this to the director.
@@LuckyVicky00 wowww, I knew the meaning behind. But I didn’t know it’s her idea😲

Man.... u guys made the best choice of a kdrama to react to. There's so much to love about this drama!!
We are so happy that you joined us. Thank you for your time. The next episode will be out tomorrow.
😀The sea ==> the sea where whales live. The sea is a world we don't know. The sea is a world where we look at it with prejudice.
Mountain ==> It's a huge wall for us.
The whale's mother who left for the mountain will return to the sea.
I am Korean, and I explained the reason why a Korean writer named the law firm mountains(태산) and seas(한 바다).
We have to listen to the sad story of the whale and empathize
😀The Korean word " DONG GEU RAMI(동그라미) " means circle(OOOOOOOOO).
Autistic people like circles, the medical doctor said.
Woo Young-woo is written as "우영우" in Korean.
"우영우" has several circles.
" DONG GEU RAMI(동그라미) "
그라미(GEU RAMI)=FISRT NAME
동(DONG) =LAST NAME
In Korean Language,
"영 Young" means smart
"우 Woo" means not being smart.
And Woo Youngwoo's phone number is 5252.

Currently, this drama is #1 in Asian countries on Netflix, and it is a fun drama that continues to rise in the rankings all over the world.
Yesterday episode 10 aired in Korea. it's really so much fun
#1 in 20 countries: Korea, Bahrain, Bolivia, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, Kuwait, Malaysia, Maldives, Mexico, Oman, Philippines, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, Thailand, United Arab Emirates, and Vietnam)
#2 in Bangladesh, Chile, Ecuador, Egypt, Honduras, Jordan, Morocco, Nicaragua, Paraguay, Peru, and El Salvador.
#3 in Dominican, Guatemala, India, Panama.
I absolutely LOVE it!
I'm buying this drama. This is a drama to own for the collections. So good.
When I was watching it it was # 10 in America.
For the sake of understanding autism, this drama is a great example. There are too many kinds of autism. This drama, too
Autistic lawyers are based on real people.
My friend's son is also autistic, but he has a genius in math. I hope this drama breaks the prejudice that autistic people cannot live in society
I'm looking forward to learning more.
Yeah but people on tiktok are critiquing it saying it's stereotypical
When it's not it's based of real autistic people
I hope at least if your frend dont have le jun ho his life , you be came his sun shinning frend💖
@@bigirlinred1612 what kind of stereotypes may i ask?
@@bigirlinred1612 well I don't wanna seem disrespectful or anything because ofc I'm not autistic but I think this drama helped me understand and sympathize more with autistic people, if you watch the later episodes it really insist on the autistic spectrum and how each person might experience it differently wich was said directly and was the center of one of the episodes. While idk wich stereotype you are attributing to the drama, I think it break the stereotype that autistic people cannot be apart of society and that they're all unsympathetic and emotionaless.
Ofc it's just my opinion and I respect you're opinion too,I just love that drama it so cute and fun to watch. Also the main character also said in an interesting on how she was worried that she might interpret the character wrong and how she could be offensive to some people so she made sure to search and get her informed about autism and the spectrum. So yea
y'know it's honestly really nice to see kdramas representing disabilities in a positive manner, and especially nice to see people who arent korean enjoying them. makes me soo happy haha
You guys are in for a real treat. I’m up to date with the show, and as a seasoned kdrama watcher who’s completed about 40 kdramas, I can already see this one being in my top 5 of all time.
Sameee
agreed, as someone who has been watching kdramas since 2014 and had finished idek like 100+ dramas, this one is easily becoming one of my favorites
What are the other 4? Genuinely interested.
@@PixelisedPaul My Mister, It’s Ok to Not Be Ok, Kingdom, and Squid Game. What about you?
@@LondonBlue That’s on my watchlist
Oh so something interesting about Woo Young Woo's phrase "Read it forwards, read it backwards, Woo Young Woo" The words she says afterwards is "wild goose, swiss, Indian person, tomato, shooting star" because in Korean they are all words you can read forwards and backwards. I think the English subtitles changed it to English words you can read forwards and backwards like kayak and racecar
Racecar, kayak, Bob, pop, mom, etc.
Yeah, syllabaries vs. alphabets 🤷🏼♀
@@16poetisa I think you meant syllables vs letters (not alphabets)
@@Cookie_moonloveNope, I meant syllabaries vs. alphabets, although strictly speaking, Hangul combines features of both.

I already know that this will be one of my all-time favorite dramas. My biggest selling point was the actress. She has done such great work here. She is incredibly intelligent quite like Young-woo and she has researched and spoken to a lot of people on the spectrum to make sure her portrayal was as close to reality as possible. She also went to a prestigious college and majored in psychology. So I'm sure that helped her gauge Young woo as a character as well. But aside from that, this show has so much to offer. Jun Ho is breath of fresh air from all the toxic men I keep seeing. I like that he has a distinct personality that doesn't revolve around his partner. He has a life of his own and doesn't obsess over his girl or patronize her like most k-drama leads. The writing is so good and portrays consent very well. I also love the fact that they didn't make Young woo's entire personality about being on the spectrum. With a lot of projects surrounding people with intellectual disabilities, they are too focused on the disability and try to write that person like some sort of a superhero forgetting that they are human as well. It takes away from the personality of that character and it feels as though that person's intellectual disability is the only personality they have. This drama feels like a fair representation.
Thank you for liking the actress! A little bit fact about her, she's actually a graduated psychology major student from prestigious school in South Korea!
Also from the new interview of the actress, Park Eun-Bin, she refrain herself from looking real-life people or already exist potrayal of ASD. She didn't have conversation with ASD people, but she do research abt the character through book, conversation with professors, and diagnosis book for doctors. She said, because she's concern if she can offend people or community when she potray Woo Young-Woo so her research only based on books, so the character Woo Young-Woo only exist in the drama (my explanation might be not do any justice to her answer in the interview, if you interested, you can read her interview from TV Guide 😄)
@@내맘이야-t6l Eun Bin Park is really amazing. I've committed to watching all her dramas. I've seen King's Affection and Castaway Diva -- I was blown AWAY by how well she can sing!
I'm also really looking forward to "Hyperknife".
I have a lot of experience with autistic and other disabled people, so I find a lot of this very touching and she pulled it off incredibly well, even going far as the stereotyped, almost ritualistic movements (you'll notice her fingers splaying out characteristically when she puts on her headphones, for example), the aversion to touch, etc. I also have a law degree (in the US), so I found it interesting that way (and while a LOT of it -- like most legal dramas -- is not "courtroom accurate", it's still a lot of fun and the similarities that do exist are interesting).
Did you guys know the producers of this drama wanted Eun Bin so badly that even she rejected 1st time they waited for EUN BIN to finshed her previous drama The Kngs Affection and approched her 2nd time
wish the producers of arthdal chronicles did the same and waited for joongki and jiwon 😭
@@ivedaibuu7362 Yeh it doesn' give the same vibe as before when the lead Actor/Actress are changed. I've droped few dramas after Leads were changed
Interesting fact about this drama: A lot of the cases depicted are real cases that happened in S.Korea !
I’m so glad you’re starting this, I’ve been looking forward to it every week and it’s one of my newest favorite shows! ☺️ Geurami (short hair, Young-woo’s bestie) is my fave non-main character. The plotlines are all so interesting, it only gets better.
EDIT: As far as post-episode questions, her dad’s career path and connections all eventually get answered, too.
WOO TO THE YOUNG TO THE WOO 🙌🙌🙌
Hi! Thank you for reacting for this drama! This is my fave Kdrama of 2022 as a fan of Kdrama. As you are starting this drama, I hope you have an open mind and educate through the drama about autism spectrum habits or the way acts and will be more understanding of the characters 🤗

yall decided to watch the best Korean drama released in the history of Korean dramas. Trust me when I say this cause I have watched 90+ kdramas so far and NOTHING BEATS THIS DRAMA. THIS DRAMA JUST GIVES YOU ALL THE FEELS.
Ps I love yall's reaction.
Absolutely love this drama! Love when others get put on to amazing K-dramas. First thought seeing this drama I was Spectacle about how it would be portrayed and how well they would develope this story and character. So I was wary to watch, but finally diving in I so in love with everything they have done. And can’t wait for you to continue the series and love it too.
this drama is such a happy pill glad you guys are reacting to it 🎉🎉💓
woo to the young to the woo
A subtle hint at the end when the father and CEO meet. She did something unusual, she spoke to him in Banmal, informal speech, instead of Jondaemal, formal speech (ending sentences in '-a' instead of '-yo'). Something you would NEVER do in Korea unless you were definitely close.
Omggg I am sooo happy yall decided to check this drama out...This is one of the best dramas to watch

korean cinematography is way better than american film IMO. the aesthetic and drama is different for sure but i love it. also they are not afraid to push the boundary when it comes to horror and gore
What kind of American movies are you watching?

@@reginamoura2239 Thank you! It's funny cause American TV shows such as Better Call Saul completely shit on Korean series in terms of cinematography. Korean Dramas are inferior to peak American/British television but kboos won't admit it cause they're a bunch of losers.

Right
But Alchemy of Soul isn't a one and done Kdrama. It has a second season.😱 I hate that! I'm used to Kdrama being one short complete series or one very long historical series! Worse...the main female character may not be played by the original actress.

I learned law during Uni and I was always attracted to dramas related to Law. But what makes this drama so interesting not only the main character has autism, but the way she handled cases are so inspiring. She found hidden issues and assessed it well. Of course, I love the chemistry of the characters in the drama. There is a good interaction and there is also bad one. This is also a great way to learn more about autism! I always look forward to new episodes every week.

Extraordinary Attorney Woo is by far the best kdrama I've seen in a long time. I get what you're saying and I'm happy that stereotype didn't stop you from watching this great story
Watch what you enjoy, do what you enjoy, eat & drink what you enjoy. As long as what you're doing isn't harmful to others, no need to give a crap what others think.
I'm over 50 years old, a 6'3" bearded straight guy built like a NFL lineman. But I drink sour apple martinis, watch Kdramas and enjoy musicals.
All things that most would say a guy who looks like me stereotypically shouldn't or wouldn't like. But I don't care what others think, in our current world where everyone is rude and mean, and the future is all doom and gloom, I just want to get through my day being happy, so I do what I want to do, and I don't feel guilty about it.
It's not the year 1908 anymore, you can like what you want.
