Excellent video Chris. Most of the modern teachings of there will have you confused and become a terrible player. Your take on Mr. Hogan’s swing is very accurate and a delight to hear. I wish I had been exposed to it much earlier in my golf life. Thank you for putting these videos out there and continued good luck with your channel. 🇨🇦💝👍
Chris, I'm really getting a lot out of your videos. Sometimes it takes me a few range sessions before the light comes on, but when it does, it REALLY does. I've all but eliminated the right side misses, and my irons are just flushing it. My 9 iron is my 150 club now, and I'm 57! I really look forward to it every time I see a new video posted!
Chris, About 18 months ago my 14 yo son decided he wanted to start playing golf, so I built a, very inexpensive, golf simulator. I’m completely self taught and literally hit balls every day. The first book I bought was B.H. Book.. I’ve tried every grip and grip aid out there, I keep coming back to a very weak left hand on the club, maybe one knuckle showing and that’s where I seem to develop the most power. I think you have it exactly right with the grip you’re demonstrating. Elbows tucked tightly, body swing, right arm kept tight against the body, left arm pushed out as far as possible..
Excellent. I’ve been so confused with the modern swing. For years I played thinking of a move to make when playing, because you’re fed so many mechanics overall. Haven’t played in weeks due to weather. This Friday I will be testing this swing out. I can relate to the baseball since I played for most of my youth. I didn’t understand how it related to Golf. I’ve been practicing indoors, so much simpler. Thank you.
Bobby jones said his hips rotated the club around his body, his arms and hand didn't do anything until his hips were almost turned completely then his arms lifts. Bobby was a great writer of golf as one of the greatest players in history.
Well, that is a good point you make about the arm position, at address, as advocated in five lessons; but, Hogan didn't roll his wrists. He pressed forwards with the heel pad of his left hand. Naturally the digiti minimi in the left hand becomes active in the waggle. And, so too does the flexor retinaculum. In the takeaway the flexor retinaculum is active. In the waggle it is not. A player can't waggle the club back when the flexor retinaculum is active. However, when the club reaches the point of propulsion- parallel to the target line - gravity then enables a player to press forwards with the digiti minimi of their left hand, in the self same way as it does in the waggle, notwithstanding the fact that the flexor retinaculum is active
Hogan, especially in the 1953 Cano films.....has his right arm clearly on top of the left at address. Wrist arched.. He wanted that left hand to stay in during the backswing. Could you link that McCord video to which you referred please?
For the clubs you are still slicing. Keep making the same motion, however move your ball position slightly forward as it will give you more time to square clubface.
You swerved into an interesting observation regarding the book. When I "cut my teeth" in golf, I started out reading the "five lessons" over five times in a row. This was back 30 years ago. I've always believed that if a person wants to do well at anything, they need to pattern their movements after the best. I chose Ben Hogan even though Jack Nicklaus was big in those days. Anyway, I also saw the video you alluded to about Gary McCord and was slightly taken aback by his comments. In light of what I experienced and what I saw and read, I realized that feelings are subject to factual observation and we must connect the two, as difficult as that might be. Btw, Gary McCord was highlighting Mac O'Grady's technique in a clinic when he stated that Hogan didn't write a single word in that book.
Chris. Just curious why your right foot is flared out a bit, whereas Mr. Hogan advocated the trail foot being at a 90 degree angle from the target line at setup?
Hey chris , i dont understand why modern teaching pros do not advocate hogans flat swing if everybody says😊 , is it a work of art and all the greatest golfers say he had the best swing of all time ! 9:03
I must say, I’ve watched at least a dozen of these videos and I have dramatically changed my hall striking. I’ve tossed all other golf swing videos away.
Love your work Chris, but why don't you emphasise the role of the 3 fingers of the left hand to explain the roll of the club like you have done on other videos. I have watched so many of your videos I am now getting a little confused. Thanks, Grateful Aussie.
I am like a kid in a candy store when I see new videos posted :) thanks again Chris you are awesome. One thing that has helped me a lot is instead of me thinking about rolling my wrist in the takeaway, my thought is twisting the handle. When I do this it all falls into place and ball flight and accuracy is amazing. Not sure if that is along the lines of what we should be doing but sure works for me.
Hi Chris i have watched most of your videos. the quality, education and production has been top notch! keep up the great work! and yes a lot of what you said is fairly accurate - there is a video with Chuck Cook witnessing first hand Hogan hitting balls and what he observed matches your findings, especially how hogan "rolled" that face open to a point where if you were in caddy view, you would be shaking in your pants and covering your privates
What skyline is that behind you? Agreed. The grip sets up the elbows. Hogan kept left hand down and in....very powerful Also, there is a video on youtube of McCord saying Hogan never lifted his left heel.....NOT TRUE. Be careful of what McCord says. IMO
Reverse every natural instinct and do the opposite of what you are inclined to do, and you will probably come very close to having a perfect golf swing. Every golfer who rolls his hands, releases his hands, fights pull and pull/hook, as Ben Hogan did, until he used body pivoting around his left hip, to square the clubface, while he opened the clubface as much as possible during his DS. Exactly opposite of what your inclined to do?... .and every golf instructor tells you to do. No wonder golfers in general dont improve.
I love you Chris for keeping hogan legend alive
👍

Your tip about club rotation and open toe position [for mechanical devices] may be your best yet...thanks pal
Thanks.

Excellent. That is fantastic. We all deserve to strike the ball well. Thanks for sharing.

What a great explanation. Thanks for this!
You're welcome.
Either Chris is getting better at explaining, or I’m getting better understanding what Chris is saying.
We have being an contrarian in common.
🤜
A little of both. Lol.
Thats what I might have been missing. I’ve weakened my grip significantly since I’ve started using this swing gonna try this tomorrow on the course.
For the clubs you are still slicing. Keep making the same motion, however move your ball position slightly forward as it will give you more time to square clubface.
This the frightening part...but a lot clearer right now 👍
You can do it.

It's just one of the tendencies I have nothing more.

Thanks for sharing. Me either. It just does not make sense to me.
I must say, I’ve watched at least a dozen of these videos and I have dramatically changed my hall striking. I’ve tossed all other golf swing videos away.

Brilliant

Sorry about that. Because I made a video on it before I thought it would be understood. Will try to do a better in the future.
@@NoMoreSecrets.BenHogan Thanks, appreciate your honesty and humility.
@whocant7993 you're welcome. It's the way it should be. Glad you are watching. Have you checked out the Master Class yet at polygongolf.com yet?
@@NoMoreSecrets.BenHogan Yes, I have emailed you about this!
Isnt that what some would call a butterfly grip?

Absolutely it is. You're welcome. Sure makes golf a lot of fun.
Chris…so literally roll the club face to as open as possible on the back swing after the rolling starts?
Mr. Hogan said the more he rolled it open the further and straighter he would hit it.
The right hand "V" pointing to the left ear was Mr. Hogan. It is a tremendous difference as you show.
👍

I want to see this joker actually hit the ball
If you don’t get it, you’re the joker.
