- How many pieces should your articulated shadow puppet be?
Ah, a question as old as time. In this video we look at several different options.

This is an awesome video. Thank you for demonstrating me all of these options!
Thank you! Glad it was helpful, and let us know if you have any other questions!
This is so helpful! Great demo!
Thank you! Happy making 😁
Thanks. I have been looking for something like this for days. How to put together a flat puppet that is articulated. Trying to figure out how to do this with while recording from the front. Meaning the puppet would not be a shadow puppet but like having articulated paper puppets and having the audience seeing the puppets moving from the front... I will check out your other videos.
Sounds like a fun project! Let us know how it turns out.
love you guys. very well done
Thanks! We just checked out your stuff too. Great stuff! Keep up the good work.
Es hermoso ❤, gracias por compartir tus conocimientos ❤
This is amazing. I have recently started creating these myself, and just heard about Bradshaw. I'm hoping to get his book from the press company. However, until then, could you possibly make a video showing a close up of how you managed to fit the four bar system in such a small space? My channel has my starting attempt at the medium, if you're curious curious check it out. Thanks for making these videos! I've been trying to figure it all out on my own, and it looks like vlad the impaler's arts n crafts time lol. I'm using bamboo skewers instead of tacks for my joints, as well as hot gluing the skewers as control rod
Thanks, Adam! I'll try and get a video up soon detailing how to make that compact 4 bar linkage and some tips on wire joints.
Keep up the good work on your channel!
I'm really curious as to how bamboo skewers workout collection points. I'll check out your work... just starting to put the stuff together... Pun intended. Sorry if this isin the wrong place.
Super interesting video. I can always appreciate art forms that I know nothing about and then all of a sudden I find my interest getting pulled into it.

Yes! A really fun art rabbit hole to fall down is scale model diarama building for model railroads.
The Cardboard Robot Assistant had to be temporarily shut down by the FCC after the bitcoin heist malfunction, but we hope to make the necessary fixes to get it up and running again soon.
@@AlexAndOlmsted LOL...yes those Cardboard Robots can be a real challenge to keep under control. Especially, the corrugated Robots I hear.

@@uptownphotography They're almost impossible to reprogram so most of the time we just pulp ours. :)

Glad you enjoyed it! Hope it comes in handy.
I heard the robot and imidiatly subscribed
Haha, thanks! We're working on upgrading the robot, but these things take time.
very useful, thanks :D
Glad it helped and happy building!
Amazing
Thank you!
you're so awesome
Thanks! :D
3:02 the thing you are holding in your hand that you are using to move the parts of the puppet--what is that made out of? Did you make it yourself?
That's just a short length of galvanized wire that we straightened and then bent the end 90 degrees. It's really great for rotating a piece, instead of just moving it up/down or left/right.
@@AlexAndOlmsted Thanks! I don't have galvanized wire on me, but I do have some floral wire--have you had success using floral wire for control rods? I saw in a different video you use them for coiled joints which I might try out, too.
@@MochaHEllamcKaine I wouldn't try floral wire for control rods unless the puppet were very small and lightweight. You might have luck if you have some thicker gauge floral wire and twist several strands together, but I'd really recommend just getting a roll of galvanized wire from the hardware store. It's inexpensive and will last you years, likely.
@@AlexAndOlmsted makes sense, thanks!
@@MochaHEllamcKaine Sure thing! Happy building!
Cool
Glad you enjoyed it!
Do you know the technique how the shadow puppet opens the mouth and at the same time it shakes his arm ???If yes can you do that in a video
I would probably design it in the same way I linked the arm and head movement @5:22 , but instead of the whole head moving it would just be the lower jaw. Does that make sense?
@@AlexAndOlmsted I occupy with greek shadow play and I like These techniques on puppets but it ' s a little bit Difficult to understand your instruction when you write it in comment.Maybe we could See this in a video please ??It would help me .
@@user-tk4tn1vfewwixf Here's a quick video we made to try and better demonstrate: ruclips.net/video/9qnDA-YHEo0/видео.html
