- What a wonderful anchorage but very popular Staniel Cay is in the Bahamas. There was over 40 boats anchored out with a special cruisers beach. We had fun exploring the island life and checking out every grocery store. We ended up making homemade pina coladas this boat life was good. Living in the Bahamas is nice while traveling the world!

You guys are so cool! I envy your life at sea. Like they say in Florida "the sunshine costs" just maybe not so much a bunch of money but your sacrifices to live aboard and cruise.
Trash disposal is something most people take fro granted. Although we live and boat in Florida, we also do boating in the Pacific Northwest, British Columbia, and on some of the smaller islands, there is usually a fee/bag to dispose of trash.
You are completely right about getting desensitized by surroundings no matter how much you try not to. I moved to Tucson Arizona 23 years ago from Indiana. I was always flipping out about the desert, saguaro cactus and mountains but after 20 years I stopped noticing. Now I have lived on the ocean 3 years and at least you get to keep going to new places!

Fun video...I sailed into Staniel the first time in 1981....all there was was a beach bar, palm leaves on the roof, sand floor. Crazy! Tip - Matt....SodaStream next time. I use it daily on my catamaran...for the soda fix. Walmart, Bed Bath and beyond, Amazon. Get the manual unit and refill the gas bottles with dry ice from an ice-house (vs buying the $20 bottle each time. One bottle of gas lasts about 2-3 weeks constant use. If I could find a way to sort out the beer issue, other than buying 50 cases....enjoy chillin'....at times it might be quiet, but the quiet days are the best days on reflection. Provisioning....you nailed it....is really easy - don't guess....write down what you eat each day, three meals say, what you do in a week....and then multiply by the number of weeks. Then add 20% (at least on the beer side). Then get out now and again and spear a few and you are golden. Thanks, Andrew. oh yeah....how long in Bahamas, then where?
I know this does not sound good but I was very surprized.Rum and hot tea is VERY good.I learned that from Cruiser that swore off refrigeration.

You drink so many sodas because they don't quench your thirst, Coke A Cola figured that out a century ago, try plain soda with a little POM juice in it, AHHH, very refreshing!
My go-to Pina Colada top off is a tablespoon of Myers's Dark Rum for a floater... Good times!

I find it funny that marinas offer trash disposal which ultimately ends up in some landfill while litter and sewage fall in drainage pipes and ends up out to sea.

Tip: it’s an easy walk to the trash dump (near the old Club Thunderball at the end of the airport). And, it’s free and good exercise!

You can go to the south Pacific where the water is like 88 degrees and if your in there long enough you can get hypothermia if it's less then body temperature it will suck off body heat

This last season it was never really warm anywhere on the east coast! I only made it as far down as St Augustine, and still had to wear winter clothes a lot of the time!!!

How was your rum and pineapple juice? Did you get a recipe for the Goombay Smash cocktail. What is the water temperature? You need a thermometer and they are dirt cheap. I'm surprised the Bacardi is from Cuba as they used to make it in Nassau. They also have or had excellent pineapple rum and coconut rum made in the Bahamas.
