Your video is so hip and yet so uninformative. You're missing important details. (Like the fact that Mini-Motors used red Locktite on that large allen head bolt. You need to heat it up big time and gently break it free). I'm currently trying to fix the issue which is in the area the video is showing. If successful I'll publish a video that actually will help us Dualtron Thunder (or other models) owners (bought from Mini-Motors USA) that are currently suffering from horrible manufacturing.
I think the wobble comes from that chrome piece that fits inside the stem base is gunked up and loose. There's a repair kit that's sold on Ali Express that comes with extra little screws that keep that piece more secure in the base. Also you need the tool to tighten down that chrome multi-edged ring. Also found on Ali Express or tat Russian web site.
So this is too hard to explain without sketches/video, so when I'm done I'll post all of the links too.
All of this information I have pieced together from multiple sources and personal experience.
Mini-motors is useless.
I've spent so much time and money to get the Dualtron Thunder to track straight and run well, stabilizers, suspension, etc.
Mini-motors could sell so many more of these if they published a decent fix and fixed it in production.
The don't care.
The scooter you want to get is made by RION.
Comparing RION to Dualtron is like NASCAR to Formula 1.
Or more like Demolition Derby to F-1. LoL.
Considering the time + money + grief spent = more than enough money to buy a RION.
When my entry level RION comes in we'll do a comparison to the Dualtron Thunder and break down the cost in terms of value, a value based comparison.
Yes, I have an agenda, a beef with my Dualtron and the story needs to be told with facts.
Then there's these cool people that say hey I did this and that and I'm cool and my Dualtron runs great. So good for you, you asshole, tell us how, you know it's a piece of crap.
I've worked in the Asian culture for some time now from the auto industry to martial arts and there's this strange level of secrecy, that as an American you have to piece together, you have to study it, to get the whole story or be told by a higher up how the secret unfolds. Very bizarre. Maybe it gives the keepers a false sense of superiority perhaps?
Sorry if you found it uninformative, maybe you are missing something there. Anyway, note that after that fix from the video my scooter ran with no problem 8k KM, until i hit two big bumps and holes, after that my bearings, bearings cups, crown nut and steering nut had to be replaced.. i just replaced them few days a go. Based on quality i recommend the kit from Sonken Engineering, far much better then the russian ones (i tested both). (video to be added soon)
Now, what i did here in this video: There was a ton of locktite in the steering/folding part and after 3-4 months of riding my stem started to swing badly. Why is that happening when scooter is new: 1) They use too much locktite and cannot tighten the crown correctly 2) Tightening is not correctly done for the bottom screw as well.
What exactly i did in this video: As you can already see, i took everything a part, cleaned the old locktite (the screw and nut were full of it and because of that somehow max tightening was impossible), added stronger locktite (red or green, i recommend green) to bottom screw and also on middle nut that comes between bearings and bearings cups , place everything back together in a better way, better tightening.
Answering your comment:
1) You're missing important details. (Like the fact that Mini-Motors used red Locktite on that large allen head bolt. You need to heat it up big time and gently break it free).
-- You can see the red locktite in the video, you can see me cleaning the pieces of it. Heating was not needed this time, but yes, heating first is recommended.
2) I think the wobble comes from that chrome piece that fits inside the stem base is gunked up and loose.
-- The wobble appears because they put too much locktite inside and in time this get smashed because of bumps/riding etc.. the wobble appears once the locktite is no longer where it had to be because tightening was not at its best/max, there is why the wobble appears. When locktite (if they even use the actual locktite) is smahed, it creates more space/room inside the steering system.
3) here's a repair kit that's sold on Ali Express that comes with extra little screws that keep that piece more secure in the base. Also you need the tool to tighten down that chrome multi-edged ring. Also found on Ali Express or tat Russian web site.
-- I recommend full kit from sonken sonken-engineering.com/headset/
4) I've spent so much time and money to get the Dualtron Thunder to track straight and run well, stabilizers, suspension, etc.
-- As you can find in my videos, i did the same :)
5) Mini-motors could sell so many more of these if they published a decent fix and fixed it in production. The don't care.
-- I agree!
6) The scooter you want to get is made by RION.
-- Yes, RION looks very good, great build. I am also waiting for FOBOS to be lunched in October: ruclips.net/video/fkBJGuGdWYk/видео.html
7) Then there's these cool people that say hey I did this and that and I'm cool and my Dualtron runs great. So good for you, you asshole, tell us how, you know it's a piece of crap.
-- I don't get this!?
Good luck with your scooters!
Ride safe!
I went to your channel and I windy see any video
Totally agree with all of this comment. Video in production I hope?.... If Rion aren't like dualtron I'm more than happy to pay the extra. Dualtron is crap in comparison.
@@MadCharge Nope, I am a former aircraft and motor mechanic and am looking for detailed instructions on how to fix the stem wobble on my Dualtron Thunder. Your video is lacking details and, after watching it several times, I still don't know how to fix the stem wobble.
f....d big mouth no video there your bozo
Great video. What you didn't show is how hard it is to get the lower hinge out of the headset. That's the hardest part since a lot of locktite and glue is used to keep the lower hinge from shifting inside the headset.
I know.. i was lucky.. mine got loose very quickly, a friend with Ultra spent few hours to remove it.. :/
U need to reheat it with hot gun
Have not attempted this yet what you basically did is fix the horrible job that Minimotors did for all that money they did a real shady job. So you took it apart cleaned it up and you did add 2 extra bolts yes? Thanks!
By the way since I did change to a different folding stem adapter and I added the external steering damper no I can hold 40-45 mph range smoothly without issue can't wait to change those suspension make the front softer thanks!
Does this apply to the dualtron ultra? Or are the mechanisms different?
same thing yes
to back into place did you use red locktite?
So what actually fixed the wobble did I miss something sorry if I did I keep watching over n over but I remain hopeless.
Great video but it would be an incredible video if you spoke and voiced exactly what you were doing for each step. And not cut so many things out.
Thanks though because this is the closest help I've found so far
Hey, i know voice over will help a lot but i am not a native english and my spoken english sounds strange haha. Send me a message if you need help, ill try to give you some more details. Good luck!
@FarnsworthIII nice, good eye it does look like two of the screws are different and are not stock. Is this the case madcharge? Did you add two more screws into the gear bolt?
Hi
Dualtron Eagle is the o e I have , and can't take out the part at 1:15 took out all the screws , it does not move
?so was it just scraping that shit off?
No need for a stem clamp?
No need tonremove wheel. Whats the point of that ?
You have to in order to reach Allen screw
if you have the proper tools you dont have to remove the wheel.@@SuperGiantGeckosLLC
@@SuperGiantGeckosLLCno you don’t, you can just turn the wheel
My Thunder has some kind of wrong alignment between the front wheel and the handle bar. In normal conditions it should be 90º between them, but in my Dualtron is not exactly 90º (let´s say more or less 87º) so when you are driving, you must turn the handle almost 3º to the left in order to go straight. Do you know what I mean?
Please, can you tell me how to fix such alignment problem? Thank you very much.
Hey dude, did you fix it?
I need an explanation about what you're doing to fix this. The wabbling in my Dualtron 3 is driving me crazy.
send me a message on Instagram on facebook
Before you tightened up the head set would have been a good idea to check condition and grease if necessary
Yep, we did that :)
@@MadCharge
Mate.. what was that blue stuff you put on the thread before insert? I've just replaced a snapped bolt with a similar bolt.. same size but not an allen key head and now the handlebars are slipping and not lining up with the wheel.. no blue stuff or any stuff applied before insert.. any help is muchly appreciated.. thank you
How did you manage to put 3 screws at 2:08 ? I thought there is place only for 2
It's a bullshit :) .
That red stuff you remove at 01:16 do you need to put new one on or?
Yep, that is Loctite and need to be added again when assembling back..
@@MadCharge Wow thanks for the fast answer :) i have sooo much wobble on my new dualtron spider i cant go over 15 Mph and feel safe :)
One fast more question at 01:27 how hard do you screw that thing? all you can or just abit?
@@ulriksommer7353 screw till the end and then steer left/right and make sure there is not that much resistance
Is that red glue Red Loctite? Did you reapply red loctite?
Yes, is loctite and yes i reapplied it! :)
@@MadCharge Thanks mate :)
@@electricscootersworld3296 no problem, let me know if need more help !
@@Eikido22 will get there soon :)
how do you fix it?..im not very clear
You will have to dismount everything, clean, use less loctite, put everything back together
did you use heat gun in disassembling?
Yes, recommended!
@@MadCharge i see....coz i did not apply heat upon removal but luckily no loose thread occur
Nice editing, but POOR relaying of vital information....
