    The black sample cart that came with our M177 gave out just now after 8 years. Replacing it was super easy thanks to your video.

    I agree! this printer is good for nothing. two replacements and HP refuses to allow me to get a different model. Didn't realize it does not do double sided printing.

    when i try to tap on the cartridges it didn’t let me, and also the step after removing the scanner assembly i cant open the top cover there’s no thing for that

    Well, this wrong for the later M477 printers and others. New toner cartridges on newer printers do not have a pull tab any longer.

    I bought MFP177 fw printer two months before... on 1 st day only it prints fine.. after that.. even it is not showing no error, its not printing.. ..i tried all the possibilities. I totally fed up with is printer.. please help to sort it out soon.

      We had similar issues, sometimes the print defaults to fax or scan. In stead of print, check print setup or properties.

    I'm not able to remove the cartridges at all, they are locked in place. Looked all over for a solution and read everything carefully.

    theres no tab on the cartridge i got that helps pull the tape? I pulled really hard but still couldn't get all the tape out. Will it be fine if i just put it in?

      thanks for the link, i checked the manual, but theres just no "tab" that helps pull the tape on this cartridge i have, and as a result there was a little bit of tape that is stuck and can't be removed. The printer is running now, but will this be an issue?

    I am trying to replace the tonner on this printer and can not get the used cartridge out of the machine. How I am supposed to do this. I keep pulling, but it seems really stuck

      Patricia Henderson If your cartridge is not able to be removed without forcing it out, please contact our technical support by going to Google search and enter 'contact HP worldwide'. Your first option should be the site for contacting HP, when you click on it you will be prompted to choose your country/region.

      I understand that you are experiencing an issue with your printer as the screen is not working.
      I will do my best to assist you.
      Solution one: Turn the printer off and then on again
      Follow these steps to restart the printer.
      Press the Power button to turn off the printer.
      Wait 60 seconds, and then press the Power button to turn on the printer.
      Solution two: Plug the printer directly into a wall outlet
      Make sure that the printer is properly connected to a suitable power source.
      Press the Power button to turn off the printer.
      Disconnect the printer's power cord from any power strips or surge suppressors and then plug it directly into a grounded wall outlet.
      Press the Power button to turn on the printer, and then try to use the menu to check if the printer control panel is functional.
      Solution three: Reset the printer
      Follow the steps below to reset the printer.
      With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the printer.
      Unplug the power cord from the power source.
      Wait 60 seconds.
      Reconnect the power cord to a wall outlet and to the printer.
      note: HP recommends plugging the printer directly into a wall outlet.

    I just buyed the M176n, and notice that it is unable to photocopy all the surface of an A4 page, It blanks 1cm on the right border (point of view of the scanner part)!, include if the paper is completelly inside the A4 mark, it is defective?

      flyguille Are you able to scan items from your printer to a computer successfully? Is the printer plugged in directly into a wall outlet? Is this a recent or a reoccurring issue? What is the product and model number of your LaserJet printer?

      No, I reffer to the photocopy feature as stand alone muli-function printer.
      It seems that it have two configurations for paper size.
      One is in the menu that is in the "TOOL ICON" button. There is an option for set up the predefined paper size (but it is for the printer ONLY).
      The other is in the button at right/down corner, that have a menu for set up the "scanner paper" size. It can be seen as a firmware design fault.
      This last configuration is TEMPORARY, not permanently, IIRC if you use the CANCEL (button with a X icon), this configuration will return to "Carta", or if the machine turn off/on again, it will start with "Carta" size in that scanner configuration. And there is unexpected events that I can't figure out, where it returns to "Carta size" (Carta = Letter).
      IMAGINE THE AMMOUNT of WASTED PAPER, TONER, and energy for doing photocopies without checking if it is in A4 size or it already returned to "Carta". It is frustrating as hell. Overal when distracted by a customer, or in a hurry.
      I wish "travel back in time" and advice to myself don't chose that multi-function printer.

    While pulling out the tape, it cut on it way out and some parts of the tape still remained inside refusing to pull out. What do I do about that, please? How do I pull the rest of the tape out as there's nothing to hold while pulling it out?

      +Mauro Turchi There is a toner collection box that is used to collect any toner that is cleaned off the drum during the drum cleaning process.

    my printer says initializing and won't come off of that screen. It's kind of clunking when it starts up and will not do anything, I have new cartridges installed but it won't work any ideas?

      +Jason “Dr. Jay” McRae I know you don't have the Officejet 6310 printer, but please follow the steps for Solution Two in the document titled "HP Officejet 6310 All-in-One Series Printers - 'Reset Power' Message Displays on the All-in-One" ensuring that you are plugging the printer directly into a wall outlet. Once you've performed those steps are you still getting the message or the noise?

      Check the two cartridges generating the error, and see if there is any of the packaging, clips, tape, etc on the cartridge or the contacts of the cartridge. If not, remove all the cartridges and reinstall them again.       +javed85 The Laserjet M177 uses toner cartridges and would give a different error message if there was an issue with the toner cartridge. Do you get the same message when you insert a genuine HP toner cartridge?

    the video looks like it should work but cannot install the cartridges. i have been on chat with HP guy for an hour now.....this printer has NEVER worked right and is a piece of crap. The 1536 which we ordered several dozen were fine....this is supposed to be a replacement? A total HP ripoff. We printed one test page and that was it....ONE PAGE....total shit.
