Now I feel a part of my youth is gone forever. I used to listen to the Smithereens constantly! And I saw them live at an outdoor festival a while back. I remember Pats booming voice more than anything else. He had a voice like that. Then Nirvana came along and I listened to them nonstop. I tend to get obsessed with one band. But what I see they both had in common was great lyrics and melodies so I don’t regret listening to either band. Their music has held up. And now they are both gone and silenced. But the music is still alive! RIP Pat and Kurt
Sometimes I feel like I’m going crazy. How was this band even possible? You could make a valid argument they were at least one of the greatest American bands of all time
I remember seeing them live in Atlanta around this time period. The bassist, Mike Mesaros, was jumping around the whole time. Reminds me of a slightly more calm Flea. Great band and awesome live performers!
Terribly tragic end for Pat Diniziio/ had to take steroids to combat Hives attacks and ballooned to 350 lbs. with side effects essentially shortening his life/ but his incredible music lives on !!!###
The Smithereens had a deal with Rickenbacker (or a distributor) so got some unusal ones to try. Jim: Rickenbacker 370 in snowglow and Mike: 4003 Blackstar. Pat's perservering with the 350. I don't think he even looked that comfortable with it, it looks all wrong to me. If you're going to have a 325 then have a 325.
Problem with a 325 is it's a much shorter scale length as it's a 3/4 size guitar. If you're used to playing a normal Gibson(24.75) or Fender(25.5), 20.75 feels very odd to play especially if your rhythm playing is even slightly heavy-handed as your chords will sound out of tune. That's my guess as to why Pat may have chosen the 350 to play here.

I’ll never understand why bands like this didn’t rise to the tip top instead of all the “other bands” in the 80’s. To me, THIS is rock and roll.
Same here, I thought they would be massive, but it never really happened, however still one of my all time favourites. Thanks for watching Denny.
I totally agree. Saw them six times, always great! Regret it wasn't sixty times!
The reason? 99% of people's music taste is utter shite.
I just revisited this and had not previously saw them performing House that we lived in. Awesome! Bowser hosting!!!
most times it's looks over talent
My High School Faves....So Glad i saw Them in 1988 MIAMI!!
A great time to see them, thanks for watching and commenting

Loved 'em from the moment I saw they Rickenbackers. What a great band, what great songs. There wasn't a dud on any record.
Pat is totally killing it in this performance. What a voice. Never to be replaced or forgotten. Miss you my brother.
Thanks for watching and commenting 🙂
what a good, underrated band-should be much bigger!
We need bands like this, today!👍😎🎸🎶
Sometimes I feel like I’m going crazy. How was this band even possible? You could make a valid argument they were at least one of the greatest American bands of all time
Certainly one of my favourite bands ever
Green Thoughts was one of the most flawless albums from start to finish that I recall from the 80s. Deserves to be immortal.
I did a shot (Seagrams 7) with Pat once at a club in Pittsburgh. Cool guy. RIP.
every song with rickenbackers are very good
Absolutely. Thanks for watching and commenting🙂
I was 14 when I bought this album and I was wondering why no one else was listening to them. Awesome Rock n’ Roll band.
Thanks for watching and commenting, they were such an amazing band.
I can understand that wholeheartedly and I was living in LA. Outstanding and grossly underrated band.
Great song! One of my favorites of theirs along with House we used to live in.
RIP Pat

100% one of the greatest bands of the 80s. Long live the Smithereens!
Nice to see you are finding other Smithereens video on this channel
What a great band...rock solid drummer

Hello Scottish. It’s me Boo. Thanks for this. Man I miss Pat
Smithereens blew 80s music to smithereens. A mostly subdued singer. Driving drumbeats, original tunes...good tunes.
Epitome of underrated.
The Smithereens, the 80's, only a memory now, (but a real good one!)
Thanks for commenting glad you enjoyed this video. I have much more from The Smithereens on this channel
Great band, always loved watching the bass player bopping bouncing around in the music videos, good stuff 👍
Live classic rock perfection from The Smithereens !!! Fantastic post thanks !!!
Glad you enjoyed it
I can't believe dennis did the backing vocals
It's a rickenbacker convention
The best kind of convention!
Love Jim's white rickenbacker
Pat was such a great singer
He was, just a great band, all perfect.
Quanto amore per gli Smithereens. ❤️
Thanks for watching and commenting
thanks I needed this
Glad you enjoyed it, I hope you also noticed the concert I just released from 1986

Now we’re talking....
Kojonudos💙💙
Ma boyz
Need to turn up the main vocals and speed it up a hair…
I can barely see Dennis with all the foggy lights 😳
Something got messed up on the "Only A Memory" first run at the chorus. Only the harmony and not the melody vocal.
Yeah, I dunno what happened there.
great
Have you got "Time And Time Again: A Celebration of Pat DiNizio"concert?
Im sorry Paul, I do not have that

@@msmoniz Rickenbacker might have wanted to promote the 350 too. I swap between my 325 and full length guitars a lot.
Fabuloso, una de mis bandas favoritas, 1990, escuché x primera vez.
And none of that in-ear monitor BS
What late night show was this? I don’t know this Host.
Neither do I.
Especially weird given my insomnia.
Ross Shafer, the final host for The Late Show (1986-1988). Not to be confused with David Lettermans show which started a few years later.
ugh the sound hurts my ears! I can't listen to it because it just seems disrespectful to the song
If you have a better copy, then share it with us
@@ScottishTeeVee I sure wish I did. I'll just have to play the original over and over
