It's a great game. The puzzle of how to pull apart the language and the spinning-plates trick of keeping multiple possibilities alive in your mind is perfect. I'm so glad they didn't go for death traps and the like, since those fail states hold little sting anyway. The big one in this, despite you being insulated from death, is "If I stop, or if I can't solve this, I won't know more". I wasn't expecting to want or need to play this more than once, but the NG+ is essential in Heaven's Vault.
After finishing my third playthrough of this magnificent game I somehow stumbled upon this. That was really interesting. Big compliment to the people behind this game!
That was excellent, thanks a lot for uploading those talks! I've been looking forward to the release of the game, and that'll certainly be a day-one purchase for me

I really wish we could play that last prototype. As much as I like the story in heaven's vault my favorite part is translating, I really had a lot of fun with the big book that gave me many inscriptions to translate.
Startled to learn from this talk that the creators of Heaven's Vault, a game that's basically about being a renaissance archeologist studying the Roman empire in space, apparently have no idea that Classical Latin was often written without spaces! 35:43
idk seems like they’re more influenced (in terms of language) by older tongues from the geographic region that’d be called the Middle East (and Asia) today, so it’s not surprising to me he didn’t mention Latin off the top of his head

yeah it's funny how cursory his research seemed to be, but probably he was just simplifying for the talk.
Wow, such a great speaker, so interesting info and so many good jokes!
Punched the Like button at the Avengers remark five minutes in. Too true mister Ingold, too effing true :-D
Haha, absolutely agreed with that.
What's the name of the game he mentions with complicated grammar? Sethion?
Sethian. It’s well worth a look if you’re intrigued
