We stayed at a hotel within 10 minutes walking distance of the main entrance and it was so convenient. We didn't have to start our day waiting in an endless line just to get into the parking lot. Travelling all the way from Belgium to visit Disneyland (and Universal Studios) for the first time this October. Also got my ticket for the Oogie Boogie Bash. Can't wait ! Thanks for the video AJ, you rock as always !
I know this video was limited by squeezing into 15 min, but a pretty important detail about Genie+ at DL is that, unlike at WDW, it does NOT cover all attractions. The add-on definitely benefits you if you’re interested in coasters and such, but if you’re only going on tame rides like Snow White and Pinocchio, (whether that be b/c you have little ones or b/c you’re a big chicken like me lol), it has little benefit.
Anaheim plaza hotel is our golden go to hotel. Sometimes prices are through the roof and sometimes it’s not too bad. And easy walking distance to the parks. We usually walk back to the hotel around 1 for a nap and head back in around dinner for the rest of the night
Just a side note….the monorail is currently closed, due to the Downtown Disney upgrade, as well as the monorail refurbishment, until the end of August.
Should mention that neighbor hotels (at least the one we stayed at) had a shuttle bus running every half hour to/from the park at beginning and end of the day.
They are lovely, but have found they don’t always arrive in time for rope drop. So take a look. Been known to walk a lot in the am due to the shuttle schedule. Still, well worth the effort.
Only thing id add to this...end with pre-ride, re-ride, free-ride! Excellent tips! Basically how i was taught to pick lines, and now my strongest skill
One final note…if you have tickets and reservations, Not tied to a hotel package, and remembered that your sons wedding is tomorrow, you still have until 11:59 tonight to cancel without being penalized. When you are penalized, It’s call “Going to Disney Jail”….I know, huh? You have up to 3 Disney cancellations, or Jail visits. On the 4th cancellation, you are not allowed to make another reservation for 30 days.
I went to Disneyland for the first time 40 years ago when my wife and I got married. Things were so much easier: wait times for the rides were short, didn't have to do much pre-planning like you have to do now. Our hotel was directly across the street from the park's main entrance which was awesome! I hope that the hotel, a Best Western is still there. My wife and I want to visit Disneyland again while we both can still physically do so. I'm not very tech savvy so planning a return visit to Disneyland might be challenging. Forty years ago a travel agent helped me plan our trip.
I know it’s to early for this request but… could you do a video on Celebrating New Years at Disney World (food, activities, etc.) and Christmas at Disneyland and DCA 😁 Also just bought from the DFB Store and IM LOVING THE RIDES, DRINKS, SNACKS sweat shirt 🎉 can’t wait to wear it this December on Disneyland and Disney World ❤❤❤❤
If you live east of the Mississippi, there are only a few reasons why you might want to go to Disneyland. (1) You're traveling to southern California anyway, so why not? (2) You're a HUGE Disney fan! (why else would you be watching this video?) (3) You're compulsive and NEED to visit all Disney Parks! (good luck with Tokyo....)
BTW, if you're a veteran of Disney World, walking into Disneyland Park the first time is a very strange experience. The park entry is very much like Magic Kingdom (Florida), but the farther into the park you go, the more different it gets. It's actually kinda creepy, but still fun! (And yes of course I know Disneyland was first.... I'm just writing from the point of view of a Disney World regular)
Explaining Disneyland vs DCA is so rough with people who have no idea. But it breaks my heart to hear people say “we bought a one day ticket to Disneyland and are so excited for cars and avengers!” But they don’t know what DCA is
thanks for the dl love! dfb guide videos are so fun to watch. two notes: (1) many of the hotels along harbor blvd. are closer than the disney hotels and, as you mentioned A LOT less expensive. we stay at the camelot inn & suites, tropicana inn & suites or fairfield anaheim resort to save $$$ as well as our feet. (2) the anaheim resort transportation (art) shuttles service many local hotels, etc. they’re inexpensive and conveniently pick you up/drop you off right at the east park entry.
Love Tropicana, basic motel, clean, and couldn’t get closer. Also though we also like the Majestic Garden - further but ok trams and way less expensive. (Trams not early enough in our experience, but may have changed.) There are way more decent nearby & walkable hotels for sure.
