  • Daniil Medvedev is out of the French Open after losing to world No. 172 Thiago Seyboth Wild of Brazil. Medvedev was much fancied for the title at Roland-Garros after a strong clay-court season to date, but had no answer to the Brazilian who came back from two sets to one down to knock out the No. 2 seed. Seyboth Wild had never before been beyond the first round of qualifying at Roland-Garros.

    It's not a surprise! Because these new players taste the top 10 games, and they won once, I feel it's not much! End of the day, the TOP seeds are there because they are always consistence! Watching a man who is 1 metre 98 tall (6 foot 6) return serve literally on the backboard next to the ball kids and line judges, then run around retrieving all day like a 5 ft 6 player is kind of ridiculous. Medvedev needs to add a lot more to his game and attitude if he wants to become a multi slam champ / legend.

      Yes, he terribly needs more weapons and why not more power to his strokes. Also interesting his spats with the audience, usually gesturing that they're not cheering enough - they'll always cheer for the more attacking player. His matches can be epic, but he's kind of the goalkeeper here.

    • @BurnsTennis
      @BurnsTennis Год назад

      @@reesefrancis Yes I have seen Medvedev play at Wimbledon and notice that too. Its weird, he can hit some outrageous winners, and the crowd hardly react. They seem not to take to him. But as you say, overall his play is simply too reactive for a top player.

      A lot of Russian players are very good (Medvedev, Khachanov, Rublev, Karatsev, to name a few), so not having them on tour would be unfair and a waste
