Uli Jon Roth - LEGEND
Never thought I would see one of my musical heroes talking about one of my child hood favorites...haha....Uli talking about Darth Vader....Now I finally get to see him live next month in Atlanta.....life is complete....
One of their top 5 songs, without any doubt, all eras mixed. Played by Uli and sung by Klaus, its a dream.
One of the greatest rock songs ever released.
Awesome Song !!! another great colour of Scorpions !! ...Tchaikovsky ! , no doubt great inspiration !
In the late 70's, a lot of people were doing disco. Scorpions were doing this.
Exactly and Scorpion's set the barre for some of the greatest Hard Rock songwriting ever!👍
Yeah, when that came out, it blew everyone away in rock. It was like wow!
GREAT song! Reminds me very much of a Rainbow/Dio tune.
Late comment : Ya it definitely has that kinda vibe for sure, glad I'm not the only one who picked up on that. And no doubt the guitar solo influenced guys like Malmsteen, Rhoads, Jake E Lee etc etc
P.S. I also love the vocals, so powerful and mesmerizing
Uli was awesome .... and still is....
THIS IS MUSIC!!!!!! WHERE IS MUSIC TODAY WHERE IS ART.
Best scorpions song..love the video..the singer got dance moves..well before I was born
The shredding and the dancing ........ who knew lol
I'm still mad this song never made Tokyo Tapes.
There are videos on youtube with the tokyo Tapes setlist and more songs added such as The Sails of Charon and Catch your Train but yes why would you include Hound Dog and Long Tall Sally and exclude those masterpieces from the release!
@@MichaelMaxwell747 ya that's pretty weird, actually. The fans wanna hear the great Scorpions songs, not classic 50s-60s rock songs wth. Reminds me of Uriah Heep Live album from 1973, there's a medley in there of those old songs.. why ???? Especially when their repertoire had so many great songs back then and then ignore them basically... I never understood that
Uli started neo-classical shred guitar. Amazing player / composer.
Well, probably Blackmore, but he was one of the first few. Uli's style does sound more like modern shred though.
Between Blackmore and Roth, neoclassical shred is all there
Blackmore was doing it years before Uli! Both amazing though
Roth is right for mediterrian touch.
When I was listening this song I think, this song like a turkish music partly.
A shred masterpiece indeed.
they are so humble
I usually just listen to No One Like You and Rock You Like A Hurricane, maybe Bad Boys Running Wild, RUclips recommended He's A Woman and it was kinda rockin for the 70s so I decided to check out the 70s Scorps. It was very Acid Rock and I wanted Metal, then I came across Sails Of Charon and it is my new favorite Scorps song. Sails Of Charon is the best 70s Scorps song, one great thing about it is it sounds like something from 1982 but it is from 1977, it is ahead of it's time. It's like some Dio/Maiden/Yngwie combination, I would love a whole album of stuff like this. I'm so glad I found this song.
It has a bit of Rainbow in there as well. What a great song
Just a great song and groove
EL MEJOR ALBUM JUNTO CON FLY ON THE RAINBOW SALUDOS SCORPIONS DESDE LEÓN GUANAJUATO MÉXICO VENGAN OTRA VEZZ SALUDOS
Verdadeiro Scorpions!!!!!!!!!!!!
TESTAMENT Make a good versions covers of The Sails Of Charon and Animal Magnetism !
Scorpions would of been better had Uli (Ulrich Roth) Stayed with the band, although I appreciate his body of work afterwards. Not to take away from Jabs, with all due respect.
Scorpions has had 2 of the greatest guitarists in rock history. Jabs was highly technical, but Uli Jon Roth's style was so melodic. So pleasing to the ears.
If he had stayed, they would be an obscure band that would have never broke through.
@@jamesrockford2626 we will never no but I tend to agree with u. Even though I love the in trance album.
James Rockford - That’s complete bullshit! Uli left just as the band’s contract with RCA was ending and there was a bidding war between every major label in the world for Scorpions because they all knew the band was set to explode. There were plans to tour the U.S. Finally, which Klaus tried to persuade Uli to do, to no avail. They were going to be big, regardless. Mathias is a good player, but isn’t the reason they “made it” in the States. They were snowballing for the previous five years with Uli and Mathias rode the wave.
While that is true, Matthias rode the wave for Lovedrive only, with Animal Magnetism, he shaped the Scorpion's sound once again. He continued this way in Blackout and Love at first sting. And eventually into the late 80s era and Ballad era. So yes he rode it in Lovedrive, but he made his name out in A.M, reshaping their sound, and eventually a bulk of the fans came from this era. Uli, from what I piece, left as Scorpion's wasn't his style of playing, it is not something he wanted to pursue when there were many other things he had interest in.
Best Scorpions song ever
Why , oh ,why is this not on Tokyo Tapes? Did , I miss it?
I'm quite sure if there was no Uli Jon Roth that there may not have been an Yngwie Malmsteen!
The Darth Vader character was taken from a much earlier Dr Who character
Where is franciz buchholz
Francis is not allowed in this DVD series because the accused him of embezzling much of the Scorpion's funds when he helped manage them, so the booted him out in the 90's!
it does have kind a Israeli beat to it I always thought? haha
Kirk Hammett terrible player
Lol !! If he ever lost his wah pedal, he'd be screwed basically
Jimi Hendrix, Ulrich Roth, and Eddie VH are the true gods who changed the way of playing electric guitar forever.
Not to forget Randy Rhodes also
And Blackmore
Shouting RITCHIE BLACKMORE
Though I agree, you're not getting many replies because Blackmore though brilliant is a bit of a world renowned Arsehole, jut saying lol👍
michael schenker
This song does have one of greatest intros ever written!! 🤘🤘
"it became influential to many guitar shredders afterward..." Maybe because you played the shit out of all guitarist to come on that track, Uli? (you rock!!!)
Let us not underestimate the power of German culture, intelligence and passion!. The Pioneer of Neo Classical Guitar was Ritchie Blackmore as he explained when he took those Master Guitar Lessons that had Harmonic Minor Bach induced accurate runs. The moment in NeoClasssical Rock was solidified when This Guitar Master Uli Jon Roth joined the Scorpions; and Neo Classical Metal or Euro Metal, was never the same again. This performance captures the mastery and the essence of the six string prowess of Uli Jon Roth and explains why even though he was inspired by the Michael Angelo painting. It was the Masterful style of Flamenco that he used to perform that song!. and nobody did it better than him; Not to put down Michael Schenker; it is just a different energy when a painting and loud electric guitar playing meet in Rock. This performance in 1978 explains where Yngwie gets his inspiration from!. Besides the Blues; who says You cannot play Baroque music in Rock!.G.
Schenker demoed the beautiful Baroque- ish “ Bijou Pleasurette “ during 1978-1979 or even earlier, classic music is already written in those European guitarists’ DNA 🧬
Uli = Ground Zero for Shredders.
Greatest fucking song ever!
This song is so epic that it inspired Yngwie Malmsteen to play it in his Inspiration album and that says a lot about it's greatness knowing how critical Yngwie is in acknowledging other guitarists.
Inspiration was basically Yngwie's tribute to all of his heroes
@@ilhamakbar5482 yep and he's a huge Blackmore fan as we all know. Actually he's a fan of just about anyone who plays a Strat lol
So glad Uli . and this song . are getting more attention. Jesus . I was playing this song for everybody: Listen To What He's Doing Here !
Great interviews!
After listening to Scorpions since their inception ive always admired Uli's guitar playing. Not many can play an axe like him...doesnt need to look at guitar neck while scredding and how he does it so effortlessly.
ULI JUST SHREDDING AND ACTING LIKE ITS NO BIG DEAL HAHAHA TRUE PRO MAKES THAT SHIT LOOK EASY!
Ya the best players make it look so effortless when it's everything but ! Lol. That shredding solo style in minor scales certainly influenced Malmsteen, Randy Rhoads and countless others
Ulrich Roth, I've been a SCORPS fan since... I hope you're still playin in socal. Bucket list..your show, European Scorpions with Shenker bros and your tunes before USA animal magnetism
Great rock guitarist! 🎸
ULI!!
Such a wise guy, and I'm surprised that his English is almost perfect.
Uli jon Roth opened the gates of the Metal Underworld first...paved the way
Please correct me if I'm wrong, but I think nobody else was shredding before '75, maybe Blackmore...?
Truly mind blowing !
Jan Akkerman, Frank Zappa, Micheal Schenker (who was also a Scorpion, but started shredding after joining UFO) and arguably Jimmy Page but he only dabbled in it and mostly stuck to blues licks
@@bigpapamanman1550 Thanks for pointing them out. Appreciate it!
GUITAR GOD.
One of the best classic rock songs
Could be on set this year.
ok
