I'm impressed to see several 2CVs with towbars. Must be quite sedate progress.

This took me back nearly 40 years. Our first 2CV was a 1979 yellow one, bought new as we were fed up with the older cars we were running at the time falling apart on us! We joined 2CVGB within a couple of weeks of ownership and has a fabulous 7 or 8 years attending 2CV meets all over the UK and Europe. I think that the last one we went to was the 2CVGB national meet at Worcester rugby club in 1988-ish, in a grotty hand-painted green Dyane. By this time we had 2 young kids and were worried about the safety of the 2CV as a child carrier, so the main family car was upgraded to a BX GT with the Dyane as a fun weekend toy.
I doubt that there are any current 2CVGB left from those days, but if there are Rob, Sarah (founder members of the Twin Pot Peeper Poppers) and (the late) Tinker the dog say hello. I'm sure that Tinker is still happily stealing sausages from BBQs at doggie 2CV meets!

I recall the Spot and the first Charleston's - however as a former owner I do love a Dyane.
I agree Ian the Dyane styling is tremendous and other worldly in its appeal. I knew a guy who was a local sparky and his form wanted to take his Dyane van off him and replace it with a new Escort van and he fought tooth and nail to keep the Dyane because he loved the fwd platform and the grip no Escort van could ever give him.
Floyd on France opened with Keith Floyd driving a dishevelled Mehari at speed on a dusty road in a sun drenched Provence - it just reeked peak France

Kept a Dolly as a pet until my health started failing and forced to do an emergency stop on M62. It did of course but it was close. Still miss them but in my 70's still have Citroen C4 Picasso. Great video and the sound track at the beginning sounded spot on, especially the second track. Also I was watching your Bob update on Wednesday, and I have to say yous were looking very relaxed and enjoying yourselves. I like Bob a bit better than a trailer tent with more of a caravan feel to it, and although I kind of prefer folding caravans with their solid sides, the pull out bedrooms give good extra room. As I was watching that video I thought "They're still away travelling it will probably be a while before I get my Model TWK, also they might not have managed to get more yet. Next day knock on the door post man with a parcel, thinking I'm not expecting anything I took it and thanked him. I opened it up and to my amazement and joy it was TWK!! They were imported into the US in the 1950s, though never in great numbers. However, they are now all over 25 years old, so you could import one from Europe relatively easily or simply buy one the several that are always on offer in the US. There are currently 16 listed on Autotrader.

One thing I regret in my life is, not having bought that Méhary so many years ago, I went for test driving. Then, prices were low, like chf 1'500 for a "MOT" (called differently in Switzerland: MFK) tested but very lame with a soft top. Heaven on earth must be driving an open Méhary on French Riviera.

Many thanks for sharing Ian. I always had a soft 'Spot' for the 2CV and it's derivatives when I was growing up. In my 20's given limited funds I had a choice between the 2CV and the classic Mini's, being young and the usual peer pressure at the time the bonkers handling Mini won. Now (very) much older I'm very tempted to possibly dip a toe into the 2CV ownership if I can find a place to store it, So who knows maybe I might just try and get one at some point as I absolutely love them after all those years. We shall see... Oh and my preferred model would be a van.

We used to spot different 2CVs when we were out and about and I'm sure we counted well in to double figures for either special editions or dealer specials; there was a Cochon which had pink bullbars front and rear and pig decals on the back, the Scotch with tartan doors and I'm sure there was a Wrigley. I was thinking that, its a shame most of the H vans have been brought by catering companies just to act as a non functioning outdoor event food and beverage van. It would be excellent if they were encouraged to put a engine of some sort and i will accept a electric conversion (not a big fan of classic EV conversions) as a alternative as the original engine isn't the best for these and then they could attend these events and maybe even offer beverages and food.
