- Alterique Gilbert showed he's one of the nation's finest point guards at this year's Nike Global Challenge. Held at Chicago's Whitney Young HS during the July live period, the nation's top college coaches sat courtside all week watching the world's elite rising juniors and seniors.
The 6-foot, 5-star floor general attends Miller Grove HS in Lithonia, Georgia (2016), where he averaged 18.5 points, 4.7 rebounds, 6.2 assists and 5.3 steals per game as a junior.
Gilbert began to generate national attention with his impressive performance at last summer's Peach Jam. Following that up with a strong season at Miller Grove, Gilbert was one of the best players on the Nike EYBL this spring, averaging 15.0 points and 4.9 assists (second in EYBL).
What caught our attention (in person) was how the electrifying point guard guard still putup big scoring numbers throughout the event, playing alongside fellow elite players Malik Monk, Tony Bradley and Maverick Rowan.
In one game, Gilbert caught fire for the South, going 12-of-19 from the floor, including 6-of-10 from way downtown.
Guiding his USA SOUTH team to the title (120-109), Gilbert averaged 21 points, 5 assists, 4 rebounds, 2 steals for the tourney (not including 40+ point performance in the scrimmage).
We hope to catch UConn-bound Gilbert and Miller Grove this season...

he's gonna be really good at UConn. Its was a great choice to play on a guard orientated team with a coach who was an NBA point guard. UConn is a place where he can grow and shine. I can't wait to see him in the NBA one day.

it’s always a trip to see how much support some of these kids got/get, and they somehow never pan out in the League. not saying it’s their faults, could be system put in place for certain students, but it still breakes my heart to see. AG was one of them ones.

just first thought is this guy has a crazy in n out dribble. he has a lot of nice purposeful movements on his drives and has a lot of gears too. he has nice lead passes; i wouldn't be surprised if he got smart enough to read nba defenses. he's going to be a great player some day, no doubt.

Not saying he will be the next kyrie irving, but he's more of a pass-first Kyrie. He has a quick handle and sees the floor very well and is a string finisher, now i dont know if thats because of the defense he was facing, but he has a ton of potential it looks like. Pull up jumper might be a but slow, but im sure itll be fine. Has to get stronger too

fern its like a reverse layup, but its used when you go up for a layup and it looked like somebody gonna block it you bring the ball back down then up, just go on a court and keep do it left hand and right hand, try to make 30 with each hand daily for a week and you`ll get better at it.
