Nothing will compare to THE CARS. original, talented and one of a kind. When we lost Benjamin Orr, everything was over. That man played live 6 days before he passed away from cancer. He was Thee best. I wish the three remaining members all the best. Such talent.
A brilliant guitarist. He and bassist/vocalist Ben Orr provided the Rock element of The Cars while rhythm guitarist/vocalist Ric Ocasec and keyboardist Greg Hawkes brought the New Wave. The result was a singularly unique sound. So glad they're finally in the RRHOF. One of the all time great bands. Cheers, Elliot!
You can't leave David Robinson out of this, he definitely had a unique style and used early electronic drums and drum effects. I would put him more on the new wave side of the sound. But he was incredibly important to their sound.
Absolutely one of the best and most underrated guitar players in the world!!! Ric Ocasek was the song writing machine Ben Greg and David, everyone one of them!! The best!!! Miss them so much!! They were a major part of my teens!!! Still listen to them today!!! Thanks so much for the music!!!! The inspiration!!!!
Good interview ~ Thank you for posting ~ Something I always appreciated about Elliot Easton (and each member of The Cars): Always very humble... very down-to-Earth, and simply dedicated to their respective craft. One of the reasons they were [and remain] my favorite band.
😂Elliot is such a nice person, also very interesting and articulate. Fine musician, too. I was lucky enough to see the Cars play up in Chicago in '79 or so. Great concert! Makes me happy that there seems to be so much interest in them over the last few years. I think Elliot was 5 or 6 years younger than the rest of the guys in the Cars, so it must have been a great experience for him to hang out with the band, especially Ben Orr. IMO, Ben was the better singer, but Ric will certainly be considered one of the best, most enigmatic lyricists in rock history. 😂
I love Elliot❤..so fine and brilliant guitarist. He has class , is a gentleman.... He is my fav..(after) Benjamin, of course..because Ben was unique ❤❤❤
4:57 I haven't seen those old 12oz Pepsi bottles in years. They were glass at first, then went to plastic mid 80's. Great interview with a great guitarist.
A very good, straight-up interview. Elliot Easton's playing, both live and studio is an excellent illustration of "advice to aspiring musicians": namely, play what you hear as the stuff YOU think is good, not what they (whoever "they"* are?) say. I appreciate the precision of Easton's playing, and it is not surprising that he is into playing blues. I expect he is likely influenced by Peter Green and early Fleetwood Mac player Danny Kirwan? * "They" are a certain incarnation of Us.
I have yet to hear an interview where any of these CARS members brag or be full of themselves...yet they are humble incredibly decent confidant well spoken articulate people.
I think you would enjoy their "last interview" in 2000 when Ben was already sick unfortunately.... maybe you've already seen it but if not worth the 1/2 hour
@@CSRookie wow...thank u for that.....that is such a tough interview to watch....only becuz of the Late Great Benjammin Orr staring death right in the face then the late Great Rick Okaseks passing in 2019......the music of our youth....our life is so fleeting so quick so short in the grand scheme of things....may GOD rest their souls
I never realized he wore a hair piece until recently. He was so young when the Cars became a success - hard to believe he was wearing a hair piece at that yound an age - great guitarist man - the guy has passion for that instrument like nobody else
i agree. i think that was his hair. He was still pretty young. He always had a great full head of hair. And anyway, I'd rather see a good wig than a bald head. Man! a dude should have the freedom to do what is best for his psychological well-being. Who are we to judge?? I mean, REALLY!!! Life is a bitch enough with all we go through. Do we need to be petty and ass-holey in pointing out superficial, PRIVATE shit about someone's grooming or attire?
Oh, man . . . Here he's all excited about this new record deal for this band with Danny Malone, and little does he know that the album they record won't be released.
zero Yeah, Elliot looks more realistic and not so shaggy nowadays. What I really can't figure out, though, is if Ric's hair was _ever_ real, and if so, when. But I was pretty clueless as a teenager and young adult. I thought it was real. Of course, balding is no one's fault. It's not like losing your teeth because you didn't take care of them. You can do everything right and still lose your hair. Mine started going at 23 -- how unfair is that?!? But a man's bald scalp should be a badge of honor, because it means you have high testosterone.
Ben Culture Testosterone is a hormone that ages men so it's not good. Bible sais in Proverbs: "grey hair is a badge of honour" ie; someone has lived a long life. That's what people are drawn to 'koz it represents living long but some women do not care about it. Thanx.
Gee all the members of cars were not loud, down to earth and polite...that's why they were the best, they knew their craft and could play their instruments really gud.....

TheBent139 Agree! The beat of The Cars was soooooo special!!! Thanks to David Robinson...🙏🙏🙏
TheBent139 yeah plus he designed all the album covers for the cars
Elliot Easton for President! The most honest and humble man and musician alive.

Seems like a very nice down to Earth guy. Their first album was one of the best albums of all time. The others were quite good too.
Seems like a great guy. And sooooo underrated.
Damn straight unbelievable he is one of the best ever and left hander ... so talented 🙏🌠
So much talent...you rock Elliot🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸

Never knew that Froggy was a member of the Cars. Elliot is one of the most overlooked guitarists in rock history.
First video I've seen where he smokes. Hopefully he's given that up. A phenominal guitarist!
Great interview seen the cars in 1976 its good they are still friends.....
wildcatter63 You’re right! It’s so heartwarming...🥰
Saw the Cars in 1980 Kansas City. Great group! Always enjoyed them . Keep on Elliot!
Easton is regarded as one of the 5 best guitarists of all time.
zero I love the Cars and Easton. One of my top 5 bands ever. But to say Easton is a top five guitarist of all time...well... is delusional.
joeyg39 I agree joey, he's a good song writer but still..
joeyg39
don't listen to "blisterpacman" he's a jerk. Elliott is half as good as jimmy page. U agree w/that?
zero top 5? yeah I believe that. He has SO much talent! If you listen to his solos w/ the Cars you would see that.

Elliott Easton was a part of the puzzel that made The Cars so sensational,, loved his special talent❤
Seems like a really sweet guy.
The Cars wer great.

Love to see these old videos of musicians smoking and drinking during an interview.
Geezus, that hair.
I know.
***** Not even an especially _good_ wig. But unquestionably is one.

I used to live in Fairfax, VA...right down the street.
HumanRiff69 lived in fairfax too, where was this?!?
Did he light up a joint?
No, a cigarette 🚬
With a white filter.
wow, those old diet pepsi bottles
does he wear wigs?
Norman Buffett its hard to tell sometimes
You think? LOL
Where the hell is this where somebody is playing a damn keyboard, yell talking?
Does Elliott still smoke cigarettes?
Maybe, I doubt it....
No .
A diet Pepsi that looks like a Snapple. This is old.
That's a real Pepsi.
Ridiculous wig. 🤓
Haha I thought the same thing.
@@bigblue82 although, an outstanding player!
