I bought Floating Points' first LP, Elaenia, 6 years ago and among the exquisite geometrical modern art in the sleeves, the sticker on the cover with a Pharaoh Sanders' forward captured my interest. I fell in love with Elaenia and went to Floating Points Ensemble's show when they visited our city -- it was one of the earliest show I've ever been to, and till this day, it is still one of the best. The laser art together with the music created a truly entrancing experience. Sam's improvisation talent and artistic creativity was bursting throughout the whole show, and I had a feeling that night that his greatest work was definitely yet to come. When I saw the names on this record, I knew it's gonna be great. Today, I finally managed to find a block of hour all to myself to play this LP, and music lingered on long after it finished playing. Jazz, electronic and classical are about all I enjoy these days, and this record is definitely one of the best I've ever heard in years. And I can see myself enjoying it for years to come. Fun fact, I'm about to be a PhD student soon so out of curiosity I checked out Sam Shepherd (Floating Points)'s doctoral advisor's page trying to find his old publications. Awesome that over 50 years after "Karma" was released (probably the greatest psychedelic jazz album ever), Pharoah Sanders is still making incredible music, and with Floating Points of all people. @@Dontrel3030 I know, man. Pretty much nobody talks about it these days. I have no idea why Sonny Sharrock has never been mentioned with all of the other jazz greats. Movement 6 is the closest I've come to a religious experience in recent memory
This is one of those albums that people get into Vinyl to listen to
When the crescendo at the end of mvmt 6 ends and you're just out there floating. WEW!

Awesome review of this album, I felt the same by even the second movement, floating through space, a sense of intimacy and openness simultaneously.
