  • Yes, conversion stories are our FAVORITE stories but Sequoia's story ranks among the top!
    Sequoia knew very little about the LDS Church (otherwise known as the Mormon Church) in her growing up years. She had seen the Book of Mormon but never thought too deeply about it, though she always had a belief in God. Later on, Sequoia was browsing RUclips and learned about Saints Unscripted through a critic's channel. She found herself agreeing with the things that Saints Unscripted was sharing and decided she wanted to form her own opinion. Unfortunately, her curiosity spiked during the pandemic so there weren't many missionaries or church meetings available. But the missionaries finally stopped by her house and she was stoked!!
    Watch the video to find out what happens next!
    Thanks so much, Sequoia, you are remarkable!!

    Pretty sure President Hinkley said, talking about people who speak against the church. "what they don't realize is that they are furthering the work ". Sequoia is the perfect example of that statement. Love her honesty. Her testimony strengthens my faith in Jesus Christ. Thank you.

    Thanks for the interview. As an "Oldy" I love to hear stories of the way the restored gospel is sounding a harmonious tone with some many of this wonderful rising generation.
    And yes, that's a wonderful recommendation for investigators to download the library. It is such a wealth of information and inspiration. I do a lot of driving and it is wonderful to be able to listen to General Conference talks going back into the 1970s. To hear the testimonies of the faithful like Hugh B. Brown, Bruce R. McConkie, The Church's greatest wordsmith Neal A. Maxwell, and my favorite missionary Legrand Richards, that is a great way to feel the spirit of them and strengthen your own testimony. For the youth of the Church there is a wealth of inspiration that never runs dry when you hear these inspired leaders expound the scriptures and exhort us to look into Christ.

    I met missionaries who had this in the 1980s in the UK. Also anti Church of England.
    Often missionaries persist with socially vunerable people who are perhaps at a loose end or new in a town and lonely because this type of person responds initially moreso than a person who has a balanced well established family and friendship group.

      To me, it's a matter of endlessly pushing ideas that are factually baseless (not to mention often incoherent), and then simply repeating the same things, over and over, and badgering people, without ever responding to faithful LDS responses to the criticisms. It gets obvious (if it's coming from the very same people) that they have no real interest in engaging ideas, but of simply painting the beliefs or history of the Church in a bad light, even if they're not even (standard, doctrinal) LDS beliefs. I like the term "rumor mongers."

    • @zionmama150
      @zionmama150 Год назад +8

      That depends. If the message is comforting you in sin, then it is of Satan. But if the message calls upon you to repent and comforts you from your affliction and reassures you of the love of Christ for you, despite all of your imperfections, then, that is a true message of God. And that is the message that The Church of Jesus Christ of latter-day Saints offers to Everyone on this planet. The God of Israel does not give us comfort in our sins. The God of Israel rather gives us comfort in overcoming our sins.

      @Mike Foxtrot I think that if that 'comfort' is also accompanied by a sincere desire to seek the truth, to improve, to grow and become the best we can be, then yes. But that word is tricky. Because it can also be negative, like if we want to grow, we can't stay in our comfort zone. We have to push ourselves and be uncomfortable at times (maybe physically or emotionally) Right? But i think if we are always striving, we can be guided by the Light of Christ to know what is true and what we need to do with our lives. Ultimately if we are seeking God, he will help inspire us to continue on a path or eventually turn us to the right one.
