I like how Catnap and Dogday, from what we can infer from what's seen and heard, are good foils of each other. Dogday is the leader everyone looks to for guidance, while Catnap is content to be in the background and just be involved. Dogday is extroverted and is always has an encouraging word, while Catnap is an introvert but acts decisively. DogDAY diurnal and the one who interacts with the others the most during the day, whereas Catnap seems to mainly come out late in the day and interact one-on-one with his friends(?).

CatNap seems like the kind of guy to be a pretty rude prankster at times but also like a friend with a good heart, considering we didn't see him giving DogDay nightmares. I would think he used his poppy gas but that seems unlikely - Otherwise we might have had seen DogDay kicking around and overall acting freaked out in sleep but all we saw him just sleeping peacefully. I'm guessing CatNap has more gasses he can use and he chooses which to use based on the given situation.

Catnap feels like the type of character who doesn't say much and mostly lets his actions do the talking (though when he finally *does* open his mouth and speaks, EVERYONE will listen), as well as the type to notice small, even subtle details the others might miss and intuitively knowing when something's wrong with his friends. for example, Catnap would've noticed that Dogday was struggling to walk and his unkempt fur, as well as his speaking and breathing being off, and quickly put together that Dogday was unwell long before Dogday collapsed onto the ground.
@@colintabor5656 Yeah, he definitely seems to me like he is truly isn't as bad as we make them out to be. In fact, how are we even sure that the in-game version of him is the same as the cartoon one? He seems like a genuinely good friend for the most part, if a bit shy and lonely. Hell, he didn't even give DogDay nightmares and just put him into peaceful, cute sleep, although that might be because in the cartoon his gas actually works as intended to give people nice dreams instead. I'm also thinking, maybe the reason they listen to CatNap isn't quite because they are scared of him? I would say it's a possibility that they are just surprised or shocked at his sudden showing up and aren't sure what to say before he throws them out for a while - He _is_ a loner and a sort of shy/anxious type after all, or at least seems to be, so that makes the situation more awkward for everyone.
Catnap giving off oldest sibling energy. Doesn't interact with the others but sticks around to keep an eye on them. Last episode he teaches hoppy a brutal lesson for what she did, and in this one literally just shows up, solves a problem, leaves without another word.
Can I may hate the others and he may be mysterious but when it comes down to it he knows what’s best for some people and you come down to it he gets the job done. And that’s what I like about him.
Did anyone else notice the pointing signs in the beginning of the episode? At first they say things like “playcare” and “they lied”, but the next time you see them, they say the names of the smiling critters. Its kind of a cool reference!
This will probably end up being some big long thing but I can't help it, there's so much I wanna just gush about over this. First of all loooove how it's like a kids show but isn't afraid to show things your typical kid show wouldn't if that makes sense. Like Hoppy breaking her leg in the first one along with traumatizing Kickin, or like in this one where DogDay almost swears and actually coughs a little bit of blood in the beginning which I didn't even notice the first time until I saw someone point it out in the comments. That's not just a fever, but a bad cough as well poor guy. Stuff like that, some people say "dark" but I don't think that's the right word for it. It's just not so kiddy that it's preschool y'know? It doesn't go too far but it's like the perfect amount of kiddy and edgier stuff. Second of all the characters are all just amazing, heck you really REALLY bring out all of their personalities perfectly in these. Hoppy being super energetic and quick to action, Bubba thinking he knows what's right for everything when more often than not he is, Bobby being caring and supportive of everyone, Picky being one of the best characters, Crafty just being precious and adorable, DogDay still trying his best to make everyone's day even if he's not feeling well himself. And as much as I'm on the side of wanting see CatNap with more of a character and personality, I'm not going to sit here and pretend the joke with him in the first one and the jokes with him here aren't really funny. They so are, like at the beginning with him switching out the signs omg. Bro was like "oop the cameras are rolling, lemme juuuust" *woosh* and switches out the signs lol. And him being the one to properly put DogDay to sleep and get him comfortable, that was soso wholesome. Canonically the cartoon versions of them are best friends so that was just the perfect way this could've ended. I know everyone's first thought is probably "he sprayed red gas in his face" but man I'm just here like "nah dude just purred and nuzzled against him all soft like cats do until he fell asleep." Another thing I love about this and these in general are the subtle details. Like Bubba not mentioning CatNap when he says they're missing people, because CatNap usually just sleeps all day and is more active at night so he's rarely up for day activities with them. Or Crafty's picture, it's an obvious reference to how DogDay is hung on the wall in chapter 3 but it's presented in a believable way. It's not presented like, Crafty draws him a picture and the picture is this bloody horror depiction of DigDay or something that's super out of character for her and is just there because "haha reference." It's presented like an actual wholesome picture and what's drawn is DogDay looking like he's about to hug all of them and he's on top because like the picture says he's their hero. And you can't see his legs because all of the other critters are drawn in front and around him. So it's believable that she actually intended to draw it that way but for us it doubles as a sly little reference to the game. It's not just "random horror thrown into these cute guys for the sake of a reference." I just found that very impressive and creative how it was worked in without feeling forced or out of character like one of them becoming super dark for a second or something. Once again another thing I love about these, they're refreshing. It's not just the same old "cutsy thing starts cute then delves into horror and is really some nightmarish thing," they're ACTUALLY legit adorable and wholesome. Bobby kissing DogDay over and over was too cute like I can't. I was legit sitting here like "Bubba shut up, what do you mean stop? No, let this keep happening it is adorable shut up." DogDay saying "absotootly" was also really cute like I love that and Crafty in general is just too precious for this world. Her and Bobby both are man. Picky and Hoppy being the derpy choatic duo isn't something I knew I needed until I saw this, like wow they are easily the best pair imo. Picky's constant derp face is so golden too, like I swear one of these is gonna have a joke where she says something she thinks is smart but is actually really dumb and then her pupils are just gonna slowly move in different directions lmao. And her and Hoppy both ready to beat up DogDay like wth haha. Guess they're going with the "if you feel pain somewhere else it'll take your mind off of the other pain" sort of approach omg. Picky with that goofy face holding Miss Delight's weapon from chapter 3 is easily the best screenshot in this for me. Bobby being worried about the kind of soup Bubba asked for is another good joke like my goodness, c'mon Bobby not EVERYTHING with chicken in it has to do with Kickin. Plus he's not even around so he'll never know one of his friends ate chicken it's all good. I love how at the end he just bursts in like "SIKE, Y'ALL THOUGHT I WAS TRAUMATIZED!!! NO WAY!!!" Then lastly that part with Bobby getting real with everyone was the icing on the cake, pointing out how they all needed to work together and really be there for DogDay like he always is for them instead of arguing amongst themselves on how they should help him feel better. Nothing like a genuine wholesome lesson to end off everything, love moments like that. It just makes them all feel like real people, y'know it isn't just crazy stuff that happens there's actually consequences to their actions and they reflect on it. Hoppy's ears drooping when she's sad or down is so adorable c'mon like, and I just noticed that she thumps her foot when she's arguing with Bubba. The little details in this are nuts. In short, these really are something special and easily the best Smiling Critters thing I've seen out there. It was really well written, animated, voice acted, the art style is super cute like I just want to scoop all these guys up and hug them. Yes, even CatNap who in this style looks chubby to me and it's amazing. Absolutely phenomenal job and I'm veeeery very much looking forward to more of these. After your well deserved break ofc. Cudos to anybody who read all of this lol.

@@jonathan4158 I'm pretty sure CatNap would have had also been done with it by that point. I doubt he would come in the second time to help DogDay fall asleep again. He did it once and won't do it again if they keep waking up DogDay and making his day worse than it already was.

i like the fact that its pretty much hinted that dogday works as leader and "protector" during the day and catnap during the night even in the games ( it says catnap watches over those who are asleep making sure they get a good nights rest and dog days is obvious ) and in here ( bubba saying its too early for him to be showing up or well being around ) its a cute idea that both are co leaders just work different hours and work differently, dogday is extroverted and keeps everyone in check during the day while catnap is quiet, straight to the point and keeps everyone safe during the night but dog day gets to me more seen as leader than catnap does but he doesnt seem to mind. The concept is adorable :)
Yk, a lot of the interior of Dog Day's house is orange AND purple...it'd be a cute idea if they actually shared the house, and Cat Nap just happens to be up and out due to needing to get rid of the signs

I like this representation that catnap is the "serious one" and the one with "common sense" bubbaphant is smart but so full of himself CatNap is the one that doesnt interact with the group but always knows exactly what to do
I wouldn’t really say Bubba is so full of himself I mean it mostly was just him being annoyed by the group you could say he comes off as rude and sarcastic in this episode but it’s reasonable in my opinion.
God, I love the genuinely kids show-like writing here, the way Catnap was portrayed was really interesting, this all feels so genuinely like what a real smiling critters episode would look like. Hoping for another entry! This is a lot to have done in two weeks though, so I hope all the artists are resting and getting the time they need, as well as being paid handsomely! This is amazing work!

i think that is symbolical that dogday was tied up and couldn't breathe, meaning that he couldn't breathe with the other critters (they are dragging dogday down). And the moment when catnap appeared, took care of him and gave him at least way to breath could mean that ONLY catnap understands what dogday needs the best, when the other critters were just arguing with each other with no ideas how to help dogday get better. I think that's why catnap and dogday best friends canonically.
I mean, who wouldn't get over his good friends arguing so much eventually? He just wanted to help DogDay and be done with it, though I do wish he at least responded to the thanks from rest of the gang/crew once he was done.
The interactions of the Smiling Critters makes me feel like that before Dogday, they were quite unhappy with each other. Probably due to a strange phenomenon that was causing their dreams to be nightmares and spreading false rumors between them (just an example conflict). Then Dogday shows up and helps the Smiling Critters understand that isn't the case and solve the real issue. With Catnap being a bit more mysterious, I would like to think that during that time of strife, Dogday was suspicious of him and wanted to catch him in the act, only for him to realize that Catnap was only trying to help in his own way and together they solve whatever phenomenon there was. Makes sense for me to why they look to Dogday as the leader and Catnap is just the kind of friend to help out in a pinch unprovoked.
Catnap just seemed so DONE with the situation. He basically just said "Oh my fucking go- You five, out. Let me work my magic. Bunch of morons, we were supposed to be done by now..."
I honestly like to think that Catnap was just outside watching them, then when he realized nothing was getting down, he said "Fuck it, I'll do this shit myself."
What I am IN-LOVE with about this is how it's not like traditional "ooooOOOOOOooooooOOOOOOoooo scary children's media gone wrong" where it's just blatant edginess attempting to scare you but rather it's kinda subtle, and it's like a __hint__ that it's not exactly right but at the same time you can tell it's still a kid's show The characters feel three-dimensional and OH MY GOSH CATNAP NOT JUST BEING THE "FREAKY SCARY OOOOOOO KILL PEOPLE FLIPPY" character and instead being an oddball creepy-in-a-way-that-would-feel-natural-in-a-kid's-show. I am SO in-love with this, I think you got me hyperfixated on Smiling Critters you sly dog(day).
This, this is what I want to say. Catnap is a creep but he's a creep in good way and natural in kids cartoon where he's originate from. Not "insert slender man in my little pony" like those backroom fools did.

A little rant....or a lot Its kinda rare for a show/series to make everyone easy to remember when there are 5+ characters in the group.... Even in a simple kids show, if they all clump up in one place, theres bound to be times where "oh this guy does this?" Or "oh ya, you existed" Or "oh! Its you! (Doesnt remember name)" In 2 episodes i remember everyone and what their "in a nutshell" personalities are And these came from a game that BARELY did anything with the characters "They existed, catnap went ballsy, everyone died" So for a fan series to, not only make a good 5± minute animation (like, theres a really good chance it could go boring in so many ways) But also not overshadow any of the characters Even Catnap, and he only gets 10 seconds of the whole episode 10/10 would follow this 'til theres nothing left to watch
I know people have made it clear that all the critters do indeed have houses, but don't worry Hoppy's joke about it is still really funny. It still works in general because Bobby, Bubba, and Picky look at her like "what're you talking about, we all have houses" haha.
Surprised none of the other critters got sick from being around Dogday. That’s like the one rule to follow around a sick person. Stay away from them and Bobby while kissing Dogday will never not be cute she did also risk herself getting sick by touching him. Even if she did get sick though Dogday would probably take very good care of her. Bobby would probably love being taken care of like the adorable cub she is. Especially by Dogday who would probably do everything to make her as comfortable as possible. Bobby shows love to everyone so it would be nice for her to be shown that same love back. I honestly don’t ever want these cartoon fur babies to get hurt. If they did have a foster parent it would probably be Miss Delight since she already has history with them. Or at least mother figure who always watches out for their safety both in school and outside of it while also making sure they get a proper education.
Dude, it's giving old gametoons. Actually good plot, good message, not cringe, actual good humor, and so much more. Probably my 2nd favorite youtube series so far. (Helluva, ofc, that's an entire studio of animators.)
This honestly has to be the best interpretation I’ve seen of all the characters together. Each of the smiling critters are able to have reasons to bicker and argue due to each one of their unique traits and falters. I hope your team seriously considers on making more of these because I am all in for this

Plus, catnap comes on screen for a second before it cuts away (on the right). Then when it cuts back to them all in a wide shot, the signs are replaced, with catnap walking off for a split second. Such cool details man i just love this entire animation
I know that a lot of people are youtubers, but out of all of them, none can compete to this. Gemstin beats all of them by far. This animation is not only golden, but its top quality too. Its perfect, topnotch, not too edgy, but just right.

I'm most surprised why and how did CatNap put DogDay to sleep. He couldn't have had used poppy gas - That would have had given DogDay nightmares. Also, I know that like, CatNap is meant to be depicted as the bad critter of the group but honestly, I really do wish that he will turn out to be friendly and at least mostly caring for his friends later on.

Still, at least in both of the cartoons he helps his friends, although I'm not sure if you could quite call the original cartoon helping per se.. Because uh.. How do I say it.. Their bodies almost seemed kinda empty, like deflated balloons when he was done in the original? I'm not so sure what he did was good there but still.
The smiling critters has such a perfect combination with their adorable forms and the coolness of their eyes, always found cartoon characters with black eyes and white pupils so cool looking.
It still baffles me that ONE PERSON is able to make a masterpiece like this. (Comparing the fact that the writing is honestly better than some of the shows nowadays) You obviously have a talent for this, never lose that.

Dogday is the optimist who is quick to snap Catnap is the loner who does his own thing Kickin is the snowflake Bubba desperately tries to be the straight man even when he isn't Bobby is the one who intervenes when things get tense Hoppy is the rowdy one Crafty is the confused bystander And Picky is the glutton ... better ensemble cast than most shows out there to be honest

At the beginning, the signs says dark things like ‘’they lied’’ or ‘’save us’’ and also some just telling places and references to the game. THEN CATNAP COMES IN AND REPLACES IT ALL WITH THE CHARACTER’S NAMES. He knows it’s a show and is working for thé show… Very cool detail :D
Fun Fact: the other smiling critters actually do have houses, it wasn’t shown in the smiling critters cartoon where we meet CatNap and see what he does though
I am absolutely OBSESSED with these and I hope you keep making more! They're so much fun and exactly what I wished for when I met the Smiling Critters. I love these guys so much, getting to see fan made episodes for them is soooo delightful. I love how natural their dialogue is at times, it really adds to both the emotions and comedy of the scenes. And I LOVE how you handle Catnap. Always in the background until he decides he's needed and then he's gone again... He really maintains that air of mystery about him. I think it'd be really fun to see an episode where everyone tries to track him down. Maybe one of those "What does Catnap do all day? Let's find out!" type of episodes where they try to follow him and keep losing track of him. Alternatively I could see them trying to do something nice for Catnap but having no idea how to find him, like throwing a birthday party for him or something.
I cant express how much I adore this animation, ever since i first saw the characters i always kinda wanted a series of some sorts about them just going through basic struggles or activities so I think this is really really cool! And if you ever read this please make more episodes.
If you play the video at a slow transition after Bubba realizes that Dogday, Kickin, and Catnap are missing you can see Catnap behind Bubba carrying the signs with the cryptic messages and I think that is a really nice touch to a such lighthearted animation.

Something i noticed, but the drawing Crafty gives to DogDay at 3:23, the way he's drawn slightly resembles the way his in-game counter part was hung up and legless, along with the smaller critters around him possibly referencing how he dies. Very neat and also pretty disturbing easter egg

CatNap seems like the kind of guy to be a pretty rude prankster at times but also like a friend with a good heart, considering we didn't see him giving DogDay nightmares. I would think he used his poppy gas but that seems unlikely - Otherwise we might have had seen DogDay kicking around and overall acting freaked out in sleep but all we saw him just sleeping peacefully. I'm guessing CatNap has more gasses he can use and he chooses which to use based on the given situation.

Catnap is just that type of character that doesn’t talk but their actions speak louder than any words can. However, we all know the dark side of that Big Purple Smile.
Idk I feel like most of that dark side came from Theo and the prototype. So the character itself is more on the quiet but thoughtful side.

Catnap feels like the type of character who doesn't say much and mostly lets his actions do the talking (though when he finally *does* open his mouth and speaks, EVERYONE will listen), as well as the type to notice small, even subtle details the others might miss and intuitively knowing when something's wrong with his friends. for example, Catnap would've noticed that Dogday was struggling to walk and his unkempt fur, as well as his speaking and breathing being off, and quickly put together that Dogday was unwell long before Dogday collapsed onto the ground.

@@colintabor5656 Yeah, he definitely seems to me like he is truly isn't as bad as we make them out to be. In fact, how are we even sure that the in-game version of him is the same as the cartoon one? He seems like a genuinely good friend for the most part, if a bit shy and lonely. Hell, he didn't even give DogDay nightmares and just put him into peaceful, cute sleep, although that might be because in the cartoon his gas actually works as intended to give people nice dreams instead. I'm also thinking, maybe the reason they listen to CatNap isn't quite because they are scared of him? I would say it's a possibility that they are just surprised or shocked at his sudden showing up and aren't sure what to say before he throws them out for a while - He _is_ a loner and a sort of shy/anxious type after all, or at least seems to be, so that makes the situation more awkward for everyone.

I love the perfect mix between cute children's cartoon and breaking character because they have actual emotions. This lil project is so cute and cool
it's literally like in cartoons from the 80s/90s! emotions were so vivid then..
Catnap giving off oldest sibling energy. Doesn't interact with the others but sticks around to keep an eye on them.
Last episode he teaches hoppy a brutal lesson for what she did, and in this one literally just shows up, solves a problem, leaves without another word.

Can I may hate the others and he may be mysterious but when it comes down to it he knows what’s best for some people and you come down to it he gets the job done. And that’s what I like about him.
Did anyone else notice the pointing signs in the beginning of the episode? At first they say things like “playcare” and “they lied”, but the next time you see them, they say the names of the smiling critters. Its kind of a cool reference!
I also noticed that Catnap keeps appearing in the background holding signs…….. interesting
This will probably end up being some big long thing but I can't help it, there's so much I wanna just gush about over this. First of all loooove how it's like a kids show but isn't afraid to show things your typical kid show wouldn't if that makes sense. Like Hoppy breaking her leg in the first one along with traumatizing Kickin, or like in this one where DogDay almost swears and actually coughs a little bit of blood in the beginning which I didn't even notice the first time until I saw someone point it out in the comments. That's not just a fever, but a bad cough as well poor guy.
Stuff like that, some people say "dark" but I don't think that's the right word for it. It's just not so kiddy that it's preschool y'know? It doesn't go too far but it's like the perfect amount of kiddy and edgier stuff. Second of all the characters are all just amazing, heck you really REALLY bring out all of their personalities perfectly in these. Hoppy being super energetic and quick to action, Bubba thinking he knows what's right for everything when more often than not he is, Bobby being caring and supportive of everyone, Picky being one of the best characters, Crafty just being precious and adorable, DogDay still trying his best to make everyone's day even if he's not feeling well himself.
And as much as I'm on the side of wanting see CatNap with more of a character and personality, I'm not going to sit here and pretend the joke with him in the first one and the jokes with him here aren't really funny. They so are, like at the beginning with him switching out the signs omg. Bro was like "oop the cameras are rolling, lemme juuuust" *woosh* and switches out the signs lol. And him being the one to properly put DogDay to sleep and get him comfortable, that was soso wholesome. Canonically the cartoon versions of them are best friends so that was just the perfect way this could've ended. I know everyone's first thought is probably "he sprayed red gas in his face" but man I'm just here like "nah dude just purred and nuzzled against him all soft like cats do until he fell asleep."
Another thing I love about this and these in general are the subtle details. Like Bubba not mentioning CatNap when he says they're missing people, because CatNap usually just sleeps all day and is more active at night so he's rarely up for day activities with them. Or Crafty's picture, it's an obvious reference to how DogDay is hung on the wall in chapter 3 but it's presented in a believable way. It's not presented like, Crafty draws him a picture and the picture is this bloody horror depiction of DigDay or something that's super out of character for her and is just there because "haha reference." It's presented like an actual wholesome picture and what's drawn is DogDay looking like he's about to hug all of them and he's on top because like the picture says he's their hero. And you can't see his legs because all of the other critters are drawn in front and around him. So it's believable that she actually intended to draw it that way but for us it doubles as a sly little reference to the game. It's not just "random horror thrown into these cute guys for the sake of a reference."
I just found that very impressive and creative how it was worked in without feeling forced or out of character like one of them becoming super dark for a second or something. Once again another thing I love about these, they're refreshing. It's not just the same old "cutsy thing starts cute then delves into horror and is really some nightmarish thing," they're ACTUALLY legit adorable and wholesome. Bobby kissing DogDay over and over was too cute like I can't. I was legit sitting here like "Bubba shut up, what do you mean stop? No, let this keep happening it is adorable shut up." DogDay saying "absotootly" was also really cute like I love that and Crafty in general is just too precious for this world. Her and Bobby both are man. Picky and Hoppy being the derpy choatic duo isn't something I knew I needed until I saw this, like wow they are easily the best pair imo.
Picky's constant derp face is so golden too, like I swear one of these is gonna have a joke where she says something she thinks is smart but is actually really dumb and then her pupils are just gonna slowly move in different directions lmao. And her and Hoppy both ready to beat up DogDay like wth haha. Guess they're going with the "if you feel pain somewhere else it'll take your mind off of the other pain" sort of approach omg. Picky with that goofy face holding Miss Delight's weapon from chapter 3 is easily the best screenshot in this for me. Bobby being worried about the kind of soup Bubba asked for is another good joke like my goodness, c'mon Bobby not EVERYTHING with chicken in it has to do with Kickin. Plus he's not even around so he'll never know one of his friends ate chicken it's all good. I love how at the end he just bursts in like "SIKE, Y'ALL THOUGHT I WAS TRAUMATIZED!!! NO WAY!!!"
Then lastly that part with Bobby getting real with everyone was the icing on the cake, pointing out how they all needed to work together and really be there for DogDay like he always is for them instead of arguing amongst themselves on how they should help him feel better. Nothing like a genuine wholesome lesson to end off everything, love moments like that. It just makes them all feel like real people, y'know it isn't just crazy stuff that happens there's actually consequences to their actions and they reflect on it. Hoppy's ears drooping when she's sad or down is so adorable c'mon like, and I just noticed that she thumps her foot when she's arguing with Bubba. The little details in this are nuts.
In short, these really are something special and easily the best Smiling Critters thing I've seen out there. It was really well written, animated, voice acted, the art style is super cute like I just want to scoop all these guys up and hug them. Yes, even CatNap who in this style looks chubby to me and it's amazing. Absolutely phenomenal job and I'm veeeery very much looking forward to more of these. After your well deserved break ofc. Cudos to anybody who read all of this lol.

i like the fact that its pretty much hinted that dogday works as leader and "protector" during the day and catnap during the night even in the games ( it says catnap watches over those who are asleep making sure they get a good nights rest and dog days is obvious ) and in here ( bubba saying its too early for him to be showing up or well being around ) its a cute idea that both are co leaders just work different hours and work differently, dogday is extroverted and keeps everyone in check during the day while catnap is quiet, straight to the point and keeps everyone safe during the night but dog day gets to me more seen as leader than catnap does but he doesnt seem to mind. The concept is adorable :)

God, I love the genuinely kids show-like writing here, the way Catnap was portrayed was really interesting, this all feels so genuinely like what a real smiling critters episode would look like. If this is what a full episode would look like, then Smiling Critters should've been a full tv show that ran for 3 seasons
i think that is symbolical that dogday was tied up and couldn't breathe, meaning that he couldn't breathe with the other critters (they are dragging dogday down). And the moment when catnap appeared, took care of him and gave him at least way to breath could mean that ONLY catnap understands what dogday needs the best, when the other critters were just arguing with each other with no ideas how to help dogday get better. I think that's why catnap and dogday best friends canonically.

The interactions of the Smiling Critters makes me feel like that before Dogday, they were quite unhappy with each other. Probably due to a strange phenomenon that was causing their dreams to be nightmares and spreading false rumors between them (just an example conflict). Then Dogday shows up and helps the Smiling Critters understand that isn't the case and solve the real issue. With Catnap being a bit more mysterious, I would like to think that during that time of strife, Dogday was suspicious of him and wanted to catch him in the act, only for him to realize that Catnap was only trying to help in his own way and together they solve whatever phenomenon there was.
Makes sense for me to why they look to Dogday as the leader and Catnap is just the kind of friend to help out in a pinch unprovoked.
Catnap just seemed so DONE with the situation. He basically just said "Oh my fucking go- You five, out. Let me work my magic. Bunch of morons, we were supposed to be done by now..."

I honestly like to think that Catnap was just outside watching them, then when he realized nothing was getting down, he said "Fuck it, I'll do this shit myself."
What I am IN-LOVE with about this is how it's not like traditional "ooooOOOOOOooooooOOOOOOoooo scary children's media gone wrong" where it's just blatant edginess attempting to scare you but rather it's kinda subtle, and it's like a __hint__ that it's not exactly right but at the same time you can tell it's still a kid's show
The characters feel three-dimensional and OH MY GOSH CATNAP NOT JUST BEING THE "FREAKY SCARY OOOOOOO KILL PEOPLE FLIPPY" character and instead being an oddball creepy-in-a-way-that-would-feel-natural-in-a-kid's-show.

Even in a simple kids show, if they all clump up in one place, theres bound to be times where "oh this guy does this?" Or "oh ya, you existed" Or "oh! Its you! (Doesnt remember name)"
In 2 episodes i remember everyone and what their "in a nutshell" personalities are
And these came from a game that BARELY did anything with the characters
"They existed, catnap went ballsy, everyone died"
So for a fan series to, not only make a good 5± minute animation (like, theres a really good chance it could go boring in so many ways)
But also not overshadow any of the characters
Even Catnap, and he only gets 10 seconds of the whole episode
10/10 would follow this 'til theres nothing left to watch
I know people have made it clear that all the critters do indeed have houses, but don't worry Hoppy's joke about it is still really funny. It still works in general because Bobby, Bubba, and Picky look at her like "what're you talking about, we all have houses" haha.
Surprised none of the other critters got sick from being around Dogday. That’s like the one rule to follow around a sick person. Stay away from them and Bobby while kissing Dogday will never not be cute she did also risk herself getting sick by touching him. Even if she did get sick though Dogday would probably take very good care of her. Bobby would probably love being taken care of like the adorable cub she is. Especially by Dogday who would probably do everything to make her as comfortable as possible. Bobby shows love to everyone so it would be nice for her to be shown that same love back. I honestly don’t ever want these cartoon fur babies to get hurt. If they did have a foster parent it would probably be Miss Delight since she already has history with them. Or at least mother figure who always watches out for their safety both in school and outside of it while also making sure they get a proper education.
Omg imagine a version of this where DogDay just lets out the swear and Bubba quickly covers Crafty's ears or something. That's so adorable to me lol

Dude, it's giving old gametoons. Actually good plot, good message, not cringe, actual good humor, and so much more. Probably my 2nd favorite youtube series so far. (Helluva, ofc, that's an entire studio of animators.)

This honestly has to be the best interpretation I’ve seen of all the characters together. Each of the smiling critters are able to have reasons to bicker and argue due to each one of their unique traits and falters. I hope your team seriously considers on making more of these because I am all in for this
If this series of yours is able to go on for a full season, I'll be looking forward to the inevitable Catnap-focused finale.

I don't think they actually need help like that, it all comes off as more of just a reference to the game y'know? Like I don't think there's some big dark thing behind these
Plus, catnap comes on screen for a second before it cuts away (on the right). Then when it cuts back to them all in a wide shot, the signs are replaced, with catnap walking off for a split second. Such cool details man i just love this entire animation

I'm most surprised why and how did CatNap put DogDay to sleep. He couldn't have had used poppy gas - That would have had given DogDay nightmares. Also, I know that like, CatNap is meant to be depicted as the bad critter of the group but honestly, I really do wish that he will turn out to be friendly and at least mostly caring for his friends later on.

The smiling critters has such a perfect combination with their adorable forms and the coolness of their eyes, always found cartoon characters with black eyes and white pupils so cool looking.
It still baffles me that ONE PERSON is able to make a masterpiece like this. (Comparing the fact that the writing is honestly better than some of the shows nowadays) You obviously have a talent for this, never lose that.

I am absolutely OBSESSED with these and I hope you keep making more! They're so much fun and exactly what I wished for when I met the Smiling Critters. I love these guys so much, getting to see fan made episodes for them is soooo delightful. I love how natural their dialogue is at times, it really adds to both the emotions and comedy of the scenes. And I LOVE how you handle Catnap. Always in the background until he decides he's needed and then he's gone again... He really maintains that air of mystery about him. I think it'd be really fun to see an episode where everyone tries to track him down. Maybe one of those "What does Catnap do all day? Let's find out!" type of episodes where they try to follow him and keep losing track of him. Alternatively I could see them trying to do something nice for Catnap but having no idea how to find him, like throwing a birthday party for him or something.
