@@AlhajiMusaDr no but I researched elsewhere, customary marriage isn't recognized by the US government. Apply as married only if u have a marriage certificate at hand. Remember when you fill ds260 after being selected, u have to indicate the date of marriage and it shouldn't contradict anyway.
If you apply as single with one kid and you live alone with your kid, suppose you get selected, what documents will you present at the interview if the father of the kid refuses to write a consent letter?
