I feel so lucky to have gotten to know Nard during my time in Dallas, TX from March 2007 until May 2008. My experience in the local music scene, as a newcomer to performing in front of crowds, was made so much more enriched because of me meeting Nard. I only got to jam with him one time, during an open jam night at a small club he played at regularly, and it was absolutely incredible. We played a cover of Let’s Get It On, and the crowd absolutely loved it. Nard broke down a nasty 5 minute long solo at the end of the song, and I almost got lost but I recovered right at the end. I’ll never forget what a cool guy he was to talk to about music. Rest in Power, Nard. You were a real one. ❤
@@YogsenForfoth I met him a couple times. I had just started booking BreanDead Brewing Co in Deep Ellum and he said he wanted to play there. I sent him a text asking if I could buy him lunch and we could put together a gig. He responded (for some reason) on Facebook messenger and invited me to his house for homemade pizza. Unfortunately, I didn’t see his message until the next day and he had already left town for a residency in Scottsdale and he died soon after so I never got to book him.
I never would have known Bernard was Roberta Flack’s only son. He lost his life in the city of Dallas, TX. I met this polite, and intelligent young man about 3 weeks before his death over at a car wash on East Grand Avenue in East Dallas. Rest on my brother. I never it was something great in you. The gift of music. 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
A true star in the JazzFunk firmament is gone too soon. He and his unmistakable sound will live forever in our hearts. May the earth lie lightly on you, Maestro!
