What is wrong with my Dogo Argentino. Health problems and the mystery of why she doesn't eat. She is too skinny and I don't know what is causing this.

I’m going through the same with my dogo . I know how you feel . It’s terribly frustrating . Eobard hasn’t gained any weight since he was 6 months old he’s now a year and three months . Hes had constant diarrhea. We tried kibble then raw then farmers dog and now we’re back to kibble but grain free . So far he’s doing a bit better . Poops aren’t always firm but it’s not water anymore . He’s allergic to chicken and beef organs so we’re giving him Taste of the Wild grain free salmon . It hasn’t even been a week with this new food so I’m praying it’s our solution . I hope your girl gets better ! Such a bummer how sensitive dogos stomachs are

I remember you recommended me the raw brand. I look into it but it was a little bit too expensive for me . I’m sorry to hear that about your boy . I really don’t know what’s wrong with these dogs now . When I was in Poland we would feed them dinner waste or the cheapest food from grocery store and the dogs were fine . Anyway I remember salmon/sweet potatoes formula of any brand was the only food my previous dog could eat. Absolutely no treats of any kind and even a small amount of anything but fish would make her poop immediately. So I know exactly what you are saying

Hi Eva , I am planning to take a dogo Argentino puppy , but I have heard that this breed has many health problems like Hip dypopsia , deafness , tooth. Pathology and some more , can you tell me if it is a healthy breed or not

My dog is overall healthy except seasonal allergies in fall when her paws get raw and it last August to first frost (I live Ontario, Canada) , all big breeds can have hip dysphasia and white dogs are prone to be deaf. If you get a puppy from a reputable breeder that does hip testing then the risk is small. Also deaf puppy you will know right away . My Dogo since spayed is being gaining weight and be healthy minus the environmental allergies. No food allergies for us

Ti consiglio di riuscire ad abituarlo acibi secchi magari mischiando le prime volte con cibo cucinato (ogni tanto cartilagine di pollo, visto che non è allergica) e soprattutto alzare la scodella dove mangia: deve strare all'altezza della base del collo, perché non deve piegare le zampe, ma mangiare con le zampe ditte ..

Warning long comment/advice. During the week when I work my dog nibbles on his food until he finishes it, we go on long walks through the forest, he plays with his dog friends, goes places with me, etc. But it's not super high intensity. He'll finish his food, but slowly. BUT on the weekends we go hunt, go to the ranch and set up the feeder, it's hot, the terrain is very rough, he plays in the water and helps me pull the wagon. He comes home and is exhausted and goes straight to his bowl, even before water, and finishes it clean . I also noticed right away when I first got him, he can't eat grains. It gives him diarrhea, anything with bread, and he will stop eating it immediately. Try grain free kibble , I use Fromm, and 1/3 grain free can food, and mix with chicken broth, for each serving/bowl. If she's not eating stick with grain free for at least a week and take her on a long strenuous hike, like 6 miles, and see if that will break it. Also, side note, you can try boar hunting with her. I'm in TX and we have a feral hog problem so it's free dog food. Canada also has a feral hog problem, so you could give it a try. See if she likes it, and if so, you'll tire her out and get free dog food out of it, just mix it with kibble and cook first.

She would like hunting for sure but in my area there is no big game . I’m planning to move somewhere more rural next year so there could be more opportunities to hunt . She would always finish the raw immediately but not kibble

@@harleyandewa8291 . I know the Alberta and Saskatchewan area near the US border has a feral hog problem. Not sure where you are. Check around where Canada has feral hog problem and they will most definitely let you do it on someone's land for free. Also, I know the problem is so bad that some areas will even pay you a bounty per hog for killing one. So the trip to those areas could even pay for itself.
