I bought a 2022 Accent SEL on July 1st. 2 months and 2400 miles later so far I love it! The back seats are a bit tight, but okay for smaller people. Plenty of room in the front seat for a 6 foot, 235 pound guy like me. Very comfortable ride for It's size, plenty of power to merge and move along with traffic. And the best part is I'm averaging 45 mpg! Even at $4.50 a gallon, I fill the 11.6 gallon tank for about 35 bucks, and it shows a range of 400 miles! I usually put the transmission in sport mode around town, and then switch it back to normal mode on the highway. I paid a total of 22K for mine with the extra warranty, and rustproofing that they sold me on, and so far I'm very pleased with it. Hyundai also gives you a free trial of SiriusXM radio, 5 years of roadside assistance, and the first 3 years of oil changes and tire rotation for free. Pretty much worry free driving for the first few years, just make the monthly payments Lol! I heard that the Accent's being discontinued after this year, so get one while you still can.
I honestly would take this over a lot of its competitors, particularly the Nissan Versa. I think Hyundai provides a better overall package with the Accent, and I like the transmission better in the Accent. This IVT transmission is very responsive and smooth, and definitely going to be more reliable with its chain belt rather than the standard metal belt that’s in Nissan’s CVT. Nissan’s CVT is not bad, but I’ve heard many stories of it malfunctioning terribly, and they’ve been doing it for years, so surprising that Nissan hasn’t listened to the complaints that people have with their CVT. And for $19k, that is an insane bargain.
The SEL comes with the addition of telescoping steering wheel, rear disk brakes, 15" alloy wheels versus steel wheels with hub caps, A 7" infotainment screen versus a 5" screen in the base SE. Also the SEL includes fog lights and an arm rest that is adjustable forward and back with small storage beneath. A blind spot mirror for the drivers side, heated mirrors and lower chrome window trim. This is a great buy under $20,000. You should also mention the 1.6 liter is dual port injected instead of direct gas injected. Therefore no carbon build up on the intake vales. This engine also has Hyundais new continuous variable valve duration (CVVD) technology which has increased the mpg to 41 mpg highway. The Accent also has more interior room than the Toyota Corolla.
@@nickpgr10 I would go with the accent. There great cars and a lot of them last to 300k miles depending on how you take care of it. Cheap fixes, cheap tires, cheap insurance. Gas is awesome as well. That's my take on that and what's best for me. But you do you, compare both cars and decide from there on what's best for you👍
@@nickpgr10 Accent SEL is about $19k I wouldn’t get the Limted trim as your getting close to a Hyundai Elantra SE or Corolla L both of which I think are better cars than the Accent. The new Elantra is a bargain 9 cubic feet more interior and a bigger engine and longer wheelbase and like 5 more inches of rear legroom more substantial car for $21400.
Thanks for posting. My 18 yr old son has been saving up down payment and this is the car he’s decided on will buy soon. This is like $700 less than a Vera SV in our area and this comes with longer warranty and 3 years free maintenance won out.
I had this car as a rental recently. At first I was slightly bummed but the fact I was given a puny little thing. Now 1,200 miles later I want one for myself. Quiet, simple, surprisingly zippy and am able to get a whopping 46 mpg on the interstate driving 70mph.
I don’t drive an Accent, I drive a Venue, which is pretty much an SUV version of the Accent. And the fuel economy of that 1.6L inline 4 with that IVT is very efficient. I easily get between 45-52 mpg when driving in the city. The one time I brought it on the highway, I was doing 50 mpg. So impressive in terms of fuel economy.
I drive the base version for my job and the mileage is great! $30 regular get you about 300 mile range. Manager bought it brand new, and I notice the transmission does act a little funny every now and then when the a/c is on, but then again it’s used for delivery service so I’m driving it 7+ hours a day. I also live/work in CT so when I saw u driving in Stratford and Milford I was like HOLY CRAP I KNOW EXACTLY WHERE YOU AT!!
Just bought one today it is used 6500 miles 2022 for 19995 plus taxes etc. But putting into drive is confusing two different drives. Overall I like it. Here in Maui
Yeah the older one had the older 1.6L inline 4 with the 6 speed automatic and it had more power. And while this has considerably less power, I find it to be plenty enough for city driving. The IVT also helps it feel quicker than its numbers suggest,
I got a chance to ride in one (Uber) in San Francisco. I'm a big guy and fit comfortably in the back and easy to get in and out of. The other passengers were also good size guys and that little Accent zoomed up and down those hills and streets (Potrero Hill) like a champ. Car was solid, quiet, and seemed well built. I would love one especially living in a crowded city.
It’s different now. Everything is push to start, or hit the brake and drive like my 2022 tesla model 3. But having a key in 2022 is pretty cool now gonna lie.
If they offered a truly basic under 14k one, with manual everything? I’d be interested. Cannot imagine paying $18,000 for a Hyundai Accent. 12-13k, real simple? Totally. At this amount I would look at Impreza, Corolla, etc base. At over 18 grand I would expect cameras everywhere, assistive everything
They do. Mine doesn't have touchscreen media controls or cruise control. No lane assist, 'sport mode' or any of that stuff. Comes with knob-operated climate controls, basic radio, and a 6-speed manual transmission. It's been my daily driver since 2019 and I never had any problems with it.
Its not the car, it's the new tires are tram lining. Following the grooves in the freeway. After the tires get some miles on them, they will stop doing that.
Leu, your right on this as to all the active safety the new Versa has. I have struggled to choose between the two. Accent has that long warranty, 3 years of free maintenance and no bad history with the CVT like Nissan's are known for. New Versa is sleeker and more soft touch points. But Accent has nice mature look, I'm 61, a little Audi-ish in the grill and much better rear lights than the Versa. Big thing is mid-trim SV Versa lacks an armrest! That is a must have for me to be comfortable on trips. Gas mileage seems the same. So I have a SEL Accent on order.
Yes that’s how it is. Why don’t you just buy one from there? American cars aren’t good in the Middle East brotha, cars in the US have smaller intercooler
