A 16 year old can look like Zendaya. There is a young actress in my daughter's theater class that looks similar. My own daughter's complaint now that she's nearly 18, is that she still looks like she's 12.
I think black girls tend to look a little mature when they're younger... they have more structured cheekbones and whatnot. My 10 year old is as tall as her 10 year old friends but her face has the defined features of a teenager, so I could definitely buy Zendaya as a 16 year old.

As someone who also looks younger than I am, I get the struggle. Yes, it’s advantageous in some ways, but having someone be surprised that I’m old enough to drive is not what you want to hear when you’re old enough to drink.

At the airport I was selected for the pat down because my clothing had metal in it. The agent was calming and sweet saying, “don’t worry you’re not in trouble”. I’m thinking, “ wow she’s really nice”. Then she said, “where are your parents sweetheart”. all my friends busted out laughing. My face got so red because this happened in full view of the airport. She said she thought I was about 14 years old. Lmfao almost 20 years later and we still laugh about it.

That was my experience. I had my first child at 25 and scared the hell out of an old lady when my baby woke up and moved in the grocery store. She thought he was one of those dolls the kids use for class in high school. I had my third baby at 29, and a Walmart employee reprimanded me for having so many babies "so soon". One of the things I really love about Zendaya is her appearance. There are plenty of actresses and models who share her small frame but still look mature, whereas Zendaya, from her petite size to her face she could pass for her late teens. As someone who is 24 and regularly gets told, I like around 18 it gets frustrating that I've always been skinny and I have a baby face. Seeing her, however, is comforting or I guess provides a confidence boost. Seeing her embrace that side of her and manage to tiptoe that line of appearing "womanly" yet still youthful.

That was my experience. I had my first child at 25 and scared the hell out of an old lady when my baby woke up and moved in the grocery store. She thought he was one of those dolls the kids use for class in high school.
I had my third baby at 29, and a Walmart employee reprimanded me for having so many babies "so soon". I said, "I'm nearly 30. I'm not sure when you think I'm SUPPOSED to have them!"
But then mid-30s came. Yikes.
I have the same issue, almost, people think I look younger now at 28 than I did at like 17. I get more people thinking I’m a teenager than when I was actually a teenager.

One of the things I really love about Zendaya is her appearance. There are plenty of actresses and models who share her small frame but still look mature, whereas Zendaya, from her petite size to her face she could pass for her late teens. As someone who is 24 and regularly gets told, I like around 18 it gets frustrating that I've always been skinny and I have a baby face. Seeing her, however, is comforting or I guess provides a confidence boost. Seeing her embrace that side of her and manage to tiptoe that line of appearing "womanly" yet still youthful.

Bestie noticed cops above us looking down into the crown & said Hey, they’re about to come put us out the club. I’m like nah they have too many people between us & them & too much to go through to get to us and we showed ID coming in here. Why would they be coming for us? The cops came. It took them 10 minutes to get through all of the people they came straight to us to put us out. Mind you these was Atlanta PD. My friend have been working for APD with the same police dispatching them for 4 years by this time. 🤦🏻♀️Thank God, our husband got back in time to prevent us from being put out by APD for being too young to be in the club because our IDs were in their pockets. 🤦🏻♀️🤪😂

Speaking of age, everyone can look younger and older no matter what age they are. I'm Asian, so Asian baby genes and all. And when I was 17, people did mistake me for 15 years old. So when I thought I still looked 15 at 22, that's when I got told by others that they think I look 18-20 now and that was a real slap to the face that I look older now lol your perception of yourself can be so different to what others see of you.
