I love these types of videos. I lack in confidence and watching these video's always help me. I can hear your voice as I'm riding. "Just ignore him" LOL It really has helped me so much. I am getting there, slowly but steady. I love this channel so much.
Seeing Mowgley work through learning his new job is so great! I love how you point out when he finds something difficult. I love that you are teaching the head popping up, ears back and tail swishes are because it’s hard for him. Not him being difficult or naughty.
I still can’t believe I won a Luxe London girth! I simply couldn’t believe my ears when I heard Alicia say my name!! Thank you for the splendid gift and for the amazing way you teach! xxx
Showing us how you are building a relationship of trust with Mowgley is super! The relaxation and letting the horse enjoy his work is so often overlooked when riders are focused on reaching their goals. Thank you for making this the foundation of your training and sharing it with us. Challenging little by little with maximum reward and relaxation and allowing horse to think about things they are doing is a wonderful concept. Your kind approach is so obviously the best approach! Forcing horses never seemed to be a good way of training, and I'm so glad you allow the horse to respond without correction. Ignoring any negative response seems to be far more effective - not bringing attention to the negative. Wow! I am learning soooooooo much!
Mowgly not the onlt one that's tired. Bless uou Alicia you sound do breathless. Little mans coming on beautifully, reward for effort is so important.👌💜👌
I watch this video so often that my hubby recognizes it:p Really inspired by how u advocate understanding the horse & continuously troubleshoot to help the horse, not only to strengthen & straighten his body, but also to gain confidence & trust. Mowgley has transformed so tremendously! Very enlightening explanation on why & how each exercise helps the horse. Mind blowing tip on how to encourage the horse to canter on by helping him in 2 point rather than punishing him by kicking! Rewarding him for his effort to understand the aids for canter even in the wrong lead by letting him canter forward into a trot and a pat instead of pulling him into a trot to stop the canter! The video on counter-flexion explanation is very helpful. Thanks! I have difficulty in recognizing the problems and so, have problem troubleshooting. But that boils down to riding practice. Hope to take more lessons soon. Super video!
I have said it before - these videos are just invaluable - dressage is training and that is why we are so passionate about it . Never thougth of counter flexion helping with canter on an inexperienced horse. Once again thanks for the great tip, seeing Mowgley's transformation is so inspiring ❤
I have a former polo pony named Milonga. This OTTB series makes me relize how simallir Milonga and Mowgley's "problems" and vices are! Thank you so much for everything you guys do!
Wow...he has come a LONG was so quickly. Very impressive and exciting! Can't wait to see where he is in 6 months or so. These videos are so helpful for those thinking of getting an OTTB!
What I love about how you are training him is how you are setting him up for success, not just with his dressage, but in his life with whoever is lucky enough to end up with him. I just think it is so cool how much are and thought you are putting into every aspect of him and the difference in him in such a short time is so cool to see.
Wow, he is starting to look like a different horse, the muscle, flexibility, suppleness from his exercising has started to really round him out. Beautiful ... I hope one day my boy could look as good🤠🐴
You are amazing. I'm a racehorse trainer & I'm competing on one of my retired horses very soon in eventing. I'm doing all the training myself & I admit felt lost with the dressage. God answered my prayers with your videos. Thank you! 😊
I can't believe the difference in him. Wow. He looks completely different. I find this series so helpful when trying to make progress with my young horse. Thank you so much
Mowgley has improved so much, especially with the contact. Also love how you hardly move in the saddle during those tricky canter transitions and on such a forward canter!
This was really helpful. As I had asked a question on a previous video regarding a stuffy warmblood. I'm now going to introduce some shoulder-in to improve suppleness, and unblock the body and get some more go/forward-ness! Fabulous, thank you for providing such great content 👏
You've done such a phenomenal job with gorgeous Mowgley!! 👏👏👏 I'm in love with everything you do Alicia!! You are a truly gifted teacher, your approach & attitude is delightful & your enthusiasm is infectious!! Most inspiring gorgeous women & so wise.❤ Can't express how much I gain from everything you do!! And you're prolific! Sorry you've been unwell, feel fully well soon Alicia. Sending my massive gratitude & healing wishes. He's really lucky to have come to you. Look forward to more with Mowgs!! 💥💥💥🐎🐎🐎👏👏👏❤
Alicia, you are such an inspiration for me! I have two young appendix horses and watching how you are bringing Mowgly along is helping me and them with confidence and a blueprint🤗 T. London
I loved this video because it was so relatable. It validated that needing to repeat exercises is not about repeating failure but about developing your patience as a rider and allowing your horse to make mistakes on the journey to success. I learned so much. However I want to say it was hard to pick between this and meeting your friend. She was really lovely and I definitely would enjoy seeing her ride again and progress on her journey.
I sure will be watching this one more than once! I tried the counter flexion into canter today after watching your video with Ash, worked great 👍 I have seen this remark a few times now in comments, "my riding has improved" " horse is going better", and I am adding myself to that list . I love your style.. simple and do-able. No message... Yes, so cool to hear this from a dressage rider. I thought they nagged all the time 😂
Absolutely fantastic! I have been watching with interest and you have helped immensely. I have an OTTB that came off the track calm. 4 years and 4 trainers he was a total unrideable mess unless he had a neck stretcher on. We have good trot leg yields and shoulder fore. Hacking. The canter is still scary. You have given me some good points to work on it slowly
Awww what a best boy he is! I really appreciate that you are explaining throughout and that I can watch and rewatch so I can see the specific aids and reactions!
I find this absolutely amazing how you managed in such a short time to get him to 'obedient' , so open to contact. I do not have my own horse (sadly, my beautiful fresian mare is only in my dreams), but I try to apply your advices and methods on the shcool horses I get to ride, but they're not receiptive at all, they usually trot and canter the head right up in the sky, making it hard to control, especially in cantering exercices. Working on leg yields and shoulder in whenever I can (in between exercices given from our teacher), but I still have trouble grasping the Banana positions and moving my seat correctly... that and me being a complete potatoes sack in canter (flying out of the saddle, lower legs flapping, same for the hands and elbows, a sorry sight ;__;). I'm sure regular practice with your own horse at your own pace is much more effective than trying a few seconds a week on horses with very different personalities and behaviours haha. Anyway, thanks a lot again for sharing your knowledge with us. Oh and last thing: Mowgley is so so so handsome. Such a beautiful boy, with very soft features and eyes.
Horses with their heads up and noses out aren't able to use their backs properly and are difficult to ride. You might want to consider a school that uses well trained horses so that you can learn to ride properly.. it sounds like your money would be better spent on higher quality instruction.
@@audreye7078 A sound advice if not for me being very much attached to the horses there in spite of them not being well trained, and also the important matter of proximity. Oh, and also it's a familial little horse school, and I fear the loss of this "warmness" in a more 'upscale' school ^^'
@@Ysreen I can relate.. how open is your instructor for allowing use of the same horse and watching these videos? Asking/allowing a horse to work with a dropped back shortens their useful life and causes pain.. sometimes debilitatingly so... I hope you can make a breakthrough. Alicia is very skilled and knows how to make Mowgli round.. but if you watch you can see when his back is dipped from the hip to the saddle and he does not track up at walk or trot. Then when she asks him to round look at those same areas.. She can do that because he is at least relaxed and supple.. perhaps you can ask your instructor to work with you on that skill? The horse would appreciate it too.
@@audreye7078 Well for one she isn't against me riding the same horse several times, but she still likes to have us try different ones to see with which ones we are working best. But it is still only an hour a week so the actual training with the horse is pretty limited, and it will eventually always be ridden by some other students that don't use the same methods (-> conflicting messages for the horse?)
@@Ysreen The horse can tell the difference in riders. Dear Alicia, I’m amazed about the info you are giving to us. Let’s just take me and my horse: - we had some issues with walk-canter - > your “shoulder in» before the canter helped - We had beautiful trot - > your leg yield made it special - We have suppling issues -> your exercises (you got us a lot of them) helped so much - We have half pass issues -> your approach regarding pyramid makes us stronger - We had some unevenness in both hands -> your suggestion to “move the bit” helped us to balance. I am so happy to have found this channel! I've watched so many videos trying to improve my dressage training/riding and this is the first channel where each video actually gives me an "ah ha" moment with something I can use in my day to day riding. Your way of explaining what you are doing and also bringing each lesson down to a level that even an amateur rider can learn from is amazing. I love that you show the "not perfect" moments and help everyone understand that it is not always "rainbows and unicorns" while training a horse or training yourself. I will be working my way through all of your videos and can't wait for more! If you ever find time to make your way to the US to do a clinic I would love to ride with you
i have watched a lot of ottb being broken in i think this is the best warts and all pocast i have watched. i think you explained what you do so well even i can understand what you mean look foward to watching mowgli each week
Alicia your gorgeous! ❤ I love the fun you put into it! Stop us over thinking and just relaxing into it all and enjoying our horses! After all that's why we ride and have them, we enjoy it! 😁 Every video is a wealth of knowledge! Thank you! Mowgley you spunk! What a bloody good man! 😍
Love this so much! I love watching Mogie progress so well and happily! I’ve been doing the snake serpentines on my OTTB and it has made SUCH a difference! Thank you!!❤️🥰
Super Alicia, what a nice guy. My Jong gelding Magic have the same problem on the wall. In the canter he pulls in the right canter to de wall. I can't wait to precis this tonight with my horse. Thanks you so much and have all a nice weekend 😘
Wow I was not expecting to see mowgly doing so well already, I am very impressed! I also appreciate that you film everything and even with that he did so well. I guess that tells us all we need to know about your training.also want to say thank you for uploading so often they always come at just the right time
He’s looking great! Would love if you’d do a problem solving video surrounding the contact. You make it look so easy but know there’s so much that goes in to it and it’s hard to know what’s the correct response to different evasions when they’re new to going correctly.
Hi Megan! So so sorry for the late reply! I love this... I need to have a good think about how I can demonstrate it.... leave it with me for a bit.... If I dont put something up, or get back to you by end of November.... you you message me again! xx
Love, love, love seeing how well Mowley is progressing. How much lunge work did Mowgley need before he learned to stop bucking and pig rooting into the canter, and how did he react the first few times going into canter under saddle? Thank you for this video and for talking through it - you are a superstar 🌟🌟🌟🐎🐎🐎🌟🌟🌟💕💕💕
Hi Cheryl, if you follow the videos with Mowgley they are in order and only about a week behind his actual work so really the journey you saw on the videos is exactly what was happening, so after the lunging you saw on the videos he did some ridden work in round yard doing the trot and then onto the canter as you see in the videos 💕
@@YourRidingSuccess Hi, thanks for that, but maybe i should have made my question precise:, how many days per week were/are you working him? Is it daily or every other day? How long are the sessions? 20, 30, 60 minutes? I do watch the videos in order and i often go back and watch them again and I'm only asking as the answer wasn't obvious to me from the videos. 💟
Wow, it’s amazing how far Mowgley has come on. What a super little horse. Wish I could make as much progress with my horse, but all your videos are really helping. Thanks 🐎
Wow, the progress you're making with him is incredible! I'm kind of playing along at home, bringing my horse back into work, and you're going about it way faster than I am! But it's really cool to see the difference between how I was taught, and working out where I need to improve as a rider to support my horse's progress. I'm also a reminded that without an indoor arena weather makes a huge difference to the ability to train! Keep up the amazing job with our little superstar pony, and with the videos!
So glad you’re getting back to yourself again health wise! You and Mowgley are doing so so well!! It would be amazing if in a few months time we could see you both go out to do a dressage show as he will certainly be ready xx
What an amazing job you have done with Mowgely 🥰 I’m currently training an ott as well and watch your videos all the time they are a huge help for us. Thank you 🙏🏼
You are so wonderful! Treating your viewers and followers with gifts, for no reason other than, that, that is the nature your personality and who you are, giving to those who keep your channel running! People in our world just don't do this! Do you even realize how wonderfully unique you are? I watch other videos but always come back to you. Your acceptance of all riders, your nurturing nature, keeping riders going by accepting and allowing their mistakes because this is the way riders learn to become better and better riders. You bring excitement to your riders and allow them to know, with your encouragement and training, that they WILL become better riders! Thank you A!
I’m learning so much from watching your progression with Mowgley (sp?)- I’ve an OTTB mare and she struggles with the exact same issues as him. From the right side weakness to the struggles with cantering to being straight in her body…and remaining confident throughout it all! I’m definitely going to be referring back to this video!! Thank you 😊 so much for sharing your journey with him. Your tips for cantering (2-point, rising canter) from other videos are also supper helpful 😊 Be Calm and Ride On ❤️🐴❤️
Wow he has really improved so much and is looking amazing! I have been loving watching his journey and hopefully soon I will have my own OTTB to follow in his footsteps 🤞🏼
Love watching Mowgley’s progress! I would like to see more videos on stretching and free walk/trot with a horse that gets easily distracted and nosy. How do you tech them to keep that position when they want to look at other things?
This is a super question Isabella! The answer is the training scale!!! When you perform a free walk or stretch trot in the test (or in training) the idea is to test the connection, so test that when you allow the horse to take the contact down and forward, that the horse follows the contact and reaches for the bit. If this does not happen (at all or for a moment) then the horse is not connected and the solution is to go back to working on the suppleness. 💕
Seeing you work with Mowgley was a breakthrough for me. My guy was a bit spooky at stall being cleaned on the other side of the shared wall. I would have avoided that area of the arena before but I decided to bend him to the arena wall so he couldn’t spooky easily and we had a great ride. He never did push in to my leg in an attempt to avoid that area and was fine after a couple laps.
I used some of these tips and some from your other videos today in my schooling session! Wow it made a huge difference, I have been really struggling to get a connection with my girl she’s only 5 but today with your exercises and help it all started coming together. It’s so exciting and I’m so happy! Please please keep these videos coming and thank you so so much. The “do nothing” was a real game changer 😊 and riding the train tracks on a banana 🍌! Xxxxxxxxx
By now my favourite thing to think about during riding is “baby legyield” 🥰 You had a great job on the #8 Dressage explained on a heavy horde who is fast. What if you have a heavy horse in hand but they ignore the leg too?
Great question Julia-Alessa, the best thing for a horse that is not reactive from the forward aids is to think of having the horse respond to a light aid and travelling by itself, a good way to check this is to ask the horse to canter, then leave your legs long and not active then when the horse slows down or drops to trot you give a quick correction which should send the horse reactive off the leg and forward (faster than what you need) and then you take your legs off again, until the horse learns to travel on its own. Then also work on the horses suppleness as if the horse is not supple it cannot move freely through the body and will seem "stuck". Hope this helps x
Loved this video! The canter issue is exactly what I’m dealing with, with my young horse! Great to see how you deal with it, thanks for the tips! :) xx

Alicia your gorgeous! ❤ I love the fun you put into it! Stop us over thinking and just relaxing into it all and enjoying our horses! After all that's why we ride and have them, we enjoy it! 😁
Every video is a wealth of knowledge! Thank you! Mowgley you spunk! What a bloody good man! 😍
Thank you for the LOVE and support!
Love this so much! I love watching Mogie progress so well and happily! I’ve been doing the snake serpentines on my OTTB and it has made SUCH a difference! Thank you!!❤️🥰
Wow - glad you find this helpful xx
So pleased to see you using counter flexion, as I’ve had to do this with my horse and thought I was doing it wrong, 🤥
Thank you.
Yes yes trust is paramount!! I could do with your courage though! Great example you lead! 👏👏👏👏❤
Yay!!!
Super Alicia, what a nice guy. My Jong gelding Magic have the same problem on the wall. In the canter he pulls in the right canter to de wall. I can't wait to precis this tonight with my horse. Thanks you so much and have all a nice weekend 😘
So glad you enjoyed! Let us know how you get on trying it out!
Go Mowgley gooo! Cannot believe what he’s looking like 🤩
My shoulder ins sometimes get a bit sticky, I’ll definitely be using these tips
Soo exciting! Tell us how you go!
Wow I was not expecting to see mowgly doing so well already, I am very impressed! I also appreciate that you film everything and even with that he did so well. I guess that tells us all we need to know about your training.also want to say thank you for uploading so often they always come at just the right time
Thank you!! LOVE to see feedback like this xx
Mowgley looks really great! Gives me hope for my mare.
Yes!! He is doing a super job!!
You are such a wonderful horsewoman. It is a joy to watch your training videos.
Thank you so much, Hana!! Glad you're enjoying the videos xx
Thanks 🐎
You can do it!
It‘s so wonderful to see how far Mowgley has come in such a short time! You are a great team :)
It's a work in progress! But he's doing pretty good!! xx
What a good boy. Thankyou for providing these sessions, so many take ways for me.

It’s so nice watching Mowgley’s progress! Amazing job! Would love to know where you sourced him from and what you look for when sourcing OTTB’s xx
He is so great!
I really appreciate your videos. You go and get above and beyond for the horses and It’s great to be a witness to it. Thank you so much
Love this!! This is for all of you, amazing people! xx
Just watching this is so satisfying, I can't imagine, and will never know how good it feels to actually do it. Thanks for the insight. 😊
Glad you enjoyed it xx
I look forward to the next video with Mowgley. Its very easy to understand and follow your training methods, its made training my OTTB a lot easier.
More to come!!
Super! Glad you find this helpful xx
So glad you’re getting back to yourself again health wise! You and Mowgley are doing so so well!! It would be amazing if in a few months time we could see you both go out to do a dressage show as he will certainly be ready xx
Yes, doing much better! And yes, that's a great idea!
What an amazing job you have done with Mowgely 🥰 I’m currently training an ott as well and watch your videos all the time they are a huge help for us. Thank you 🙏🏼
Glad you find this helpful!!
I would love to have a horse to make this kind of journey with, it looks super fun!😍
It's super fun!!

Yes!!
Thank you so much for the lovely comment Karen! So happy you are loving the videos so much!
Wow, look at Mowgely, can't believe how great he is going, you're amazing🙌 awesome job!!!
He is super amazing!!
Hes so much better!! Great job alicia
Yes - thank you!
Your tips for cantering (2-point, rising canter) from other videos are also supper helpful 😊
Be Calm and Ride On ❤️🐴❤️
Super JOB!! So glad the videos have helped you in your riding!!
Wow he has really improved so much and is looking amazing! I have been loving watching his journey and hopefully soon I will have my own OTTB to follow in his footsteps 🤞🏼
He is amazing!!
He is looking just great, what a transformation from the first video. You must be thrilled! ⭐️
He is an absolute gem! xx
Love watching you and Mo
😘😘😘
He's looking amazing! I've struggled with connection for years, your video s are inspirational. Thank you.
Thank you!! 💕
Wow what a difference, he is looking amazing!!!
Yes!!
Yay another mowgli update ! He looks AMAZING!
Thank you!
Yayyyyy! So lovely to read comments like this and to hear how watching the videos have helped you! Well done xx
Mowgely is awesome well done ! I wish more people would help TB's.
Love your work your are amazing. from down under Forster
Much appreciated!
Loving this. Love your all weather arena. I keep getting rained off 😁
💯
He’s doing amazing!! Another really helpful schooling session thank you 😊 xx
Yes!!
Xxxxxxxxx
Wow this is amazing!! Super job!!
Hi I love the way you teach!!! ❤️
Could you go through the aids for the different dressage moves ie shoulder in and other lateral work.
Tx

Wow!! Thank you!
Just love watching these videos in the morning before heading up to the yard, so inspiring!
Love this!!
Wow his progress is amazing!!!
Yes!!
Super helpful as always! He’s coming along so nicely! xx
Yes!!
By now my favourite thing to think about during riding is “baby legyield” 🥰
You had a great job on the #8 Dressage explained on a heavy horde who is fast.
TY so much for this series -- and showing the ugly bits!
Thank you!! 💕
You are amazing! Thank you for doing all of this!! Love to follow the progress with this horse and to try the exercisers with my own horse :)
