I came across this clip and I so much enjoyed watching this. Great job Laci! Good intonation, vibrato and phrasing. If you play this piece, or any song, over and over and over, etc, and keeping your full attention on every note, Something interesting starts to happen. The performance becomes more fluid, more inspired, much more exciting to play, and it starts to really sound like music. You're doing great. Steve Vai
80% of the audience has no idea how special the thing is that they just witnessed, how many hours that kid spent in his bedroom NOT playing video games, chasing girls, or wasting time, but instead OBSESSING over this song to get it to that level. Well done kid!! Hat tip!
Absolutely, but let's acknowledge that he didn't just stumble upon his dream - he's earned it with thousands of hours of practice. To make it sweeter - all his peers listen to Ice Spice and Skibidi Toilet and other nonesense, while he has found the old classics, fell in love with them, and - in the era of TikTok short term attention span - found the discipline to learn it. I love it. Incredible job, young man. I'd say the sky is the limit, but you're already a star. (Also, is that a Jason Richardson signature model? beautiful axe dude)
Dude..that was sick. Doubt anyone knew what they just saw. No distortion - you killed it. Very impressive and worthy of all praise from fellow guitarists. Keep shredding kid.
Took me 20 years of playing to be able to play FTLOG from start to finish. That was always my dream to play it at a school talent show. You nailed it kid, a few mistakes that will no doubt have you kicking yourself but only a fellow guitarist will have heard them anyway. That was incredible, well done.
Da f……. Heck?! An obligatory clap? Dude! That was mesmerizing! Absolutely on point! Dude they were not ready to get their faces melted off! “You guys aren’t ready for that, but your kids are gonna love it.” Anything by Vai is nuts!
I was thinking the same thing! The one audience “dad” in the last scene, in the corner seat didn’t even clap. Unfortunately, to the ‘normal’ people, all they heard was a nice sounding lick which was played way to many times with small variations and a ton of trem bar tricks which all sounded the same to them. So to the normal person, they were like: “aww, good for you kiddo” and rub the top of his head or something equally degrading to the skill they just witnessed.
"Back to the Past" episode one, back to when the parents didn't know or understand. Weird really. It's like the audience was patched in since it didn't seem to fit.
This deserved a standing ovation so loud and for so long that the show organizers would've had to get on stage and ask everyone to calm down so the show could go on. BRAVO LACI. All of us watching this online are proud of you.
I hope there’s at least one or two folks there that can appreciate the sheer difficulty of playing this song note for note. Sir, you’ve done your fellow guitarists proud. I hope Mr. Vai gets to see this at some point.
Man, that was f* brilliant! I mean your talent, your technique, your sound and the balls of making it. Your parents must be super proud of you and so must be Steve. Keep on rocking. I wish you a great and happy life. Greetings from Germany!
It's hard to imagine how many hours of practice that takes. You are more than just a talented guitarist. Remember God already loves you and can't love you anymore. I've been playing for years and it's easy to get lost in it all but life has more to offer than fame and praises of man. You are more than just an awesome guitar player.
Wow super impressive son! I’ve been playing 40 years and could never capture all that with such emotion and precision! And that’s what sold me the most… the emotion and passion! Keep up the good works and yes, FOR SURE you got short changed on that applause The entire auditorium should have stood up and cheered! WOW! Impressive
Did not expect to see you here my boy! Supporting other up and coming guitar channels is a based maneuver. Looking forward to seeing more heat from both of you!
I love young talent. I'm a drummer/ percussionist I'm 70 now. Been playing drums since I was 8 I love these young musicians doing stuff it me 15/20 years to learn
that was unreal, i don't play but i can recognize how special it is to pull that off at that age, immense talent and dedication, that one guy at the end that couldn't even manage a clap, seriously ^#*# that guy.
Awesome job kid. As mentioned by others, playing this song without a sustainer and a Wah is a Pro thing. Just hitting the right notes and adapting. Superb work mate.
Give that kid a standing ovation, do you realize what he just pulled off? Is this clip from England or something geeze! F'n nailed it dude, outstanding!
Me and this kat Tony Mautino did this as drummer and guitarist in the late 1990s for the HS talent show. He was incredible and I kept a beat. I got much better as a drummer since then, but he wanted to train me to be the best drummer in that school because he was a prodigy, anyway, this took me back 25 years and unlocked some core memories. Thanks!
Very very good!! you deserve a standing ovation ...not this weak reaction of this almost asleep audience. I play guitar for almost 45 years and you kick *ss
Low key bro u deserve more attention for the talent and hard work put in to play this song. I play guitar and after playing for 2 years don’t understand the full complexity of the song. Props for playing this at your prom
I had the same feeling my music teacher had about a song my brother picked for his leavers. It was Tocatta and Fugue... His reaction when he started was desperate, but by the time he'd finished, he was laughing his head off.
Incredible performance , to play such an amazing piece as this one you are playing . Congratulation and keep growing your artistic side . Excellent done chap !
Holy shit dude you played that perfectly. I was around amazing musicians in high school and you're one of the best high school guitarists I've ever seen. Props to you bro keep jamming you got a whole future ahead of you
One of my all time favorite Vai pieces , well done that was a real good interpretation, with your own take on it. Keep it up you have real talent young man.

I'm typically reserved grandpa type, but I would have screamed and carried on after that.

Not a guitarist heard one snag but still very good. Kids got it though.

'The Audience is listening' would have been a great tune to do at a school gig.
The unfortunate truth is the average Joe don’t really appreciate solos like guitar players do. They like songs with rhythm and groove
I was thinking the same thing!

This is already in extremely difficult song 😮 but to do it with out a sustainer is crazy impressive!
…and without a wah! 😮
...and on a guitar with pretty high looking action
@@user-me5fh3yu1jLol that's an EBMM Jason Richardson model - it would have a very low action unless someone deliberately raised it after the fact.
@@seanridner1385 action can very well change on its own. it doesn't need to be deliberately changed.
Agreed...

Most of the parents have probably never heard of Steve Vai. Extremely difficult song and you did a fantastic job. Keep it going man.
Nailed it! Great interpretation doing Steve proud. Respect for the gorgeous Music Man 7.
The Jason Richardson signature and the strap height was just the the icing on the cake. Magnificent!
