Based on ego, I am bruised that a Malian has become SE's coach but to be fair to Chelle, I am impressed with his style of play. Mali control games and always look good to win
People should always be position, bless this man to shine, he might not been doing well and as everyone has a day of turning point in their life, what if Nigeria 🇳🇬 is his turning point? Please let's support this man.
Two coaches in Africa that I really loved pitso Mosimane and Eric Chelle were two coaches I was hoping Nigeria should hire specially Mosimane but I'm happy for Chelle and I hope he does well, great appointment and wish you the best, welcome to the best team in Africa football
Jay Jay Okocha pleaded with Mosimane to coach the SE bit he refused cos his country South Africa is also in the same World Cup qualifying group as Nigeria.
Forget about all this sentiment about local coaches. There was no chance Eguavon would have qualified us for the world cup. And the team has already started a systematic decline so why not try someone else.
Appointment of Eric Chèle as super Eagles coach will bring in energy, strength and the vibrancy that is missing in the Nigeria team formation since the advent of using overpaid foreign based players, that have seen lowly rated teams in Africa doing great and outperforming the big names in Africa football.
We can't experiment with super eagles, if a local coach fail to qualify us just as Austin Eguavoen did the in the last three years Nigerians will come for his head. If Eguavoen should coach the team and fail even this journalist talking now will speak I'll of him. The best decision is what NFF has taken. We don't have any local coach plying his trade outside Nigeria at the moment like the days of Steven keshi. Keshi also coach Mail and he succeeded with super eagles so lets support this young man, infact it's better since this appointment was done early. Super eagles will succeed with this Man
Great choice I must say considering our inability to afford the service of a world class coach! You would only need to review the performance of Mali Team at the last AFCON for you to know that Eric Chelle is a good tactician. The Malian Team under his watch was very tactful, fast-paced and effective in goals delivery and only lost to the Ivory Coast by whiskers who was the eventual winner of the tournament! This is the reason the coach was devastated and cold water had to be poured on his head on the day. I do not see this as a justification to rubbish his credentials! For me that says a lot about his passion for results! I look forward to a very fluid, passion-driven, fast-paced, cohesive and goal-driven Super Eagles under the tutelage of this young, passionate and energetic tactician! We have suffered goals drought for too long! Sadly, time is not on our side yet I am still optimistic of the turning around of our team from individual brilliance to an efficient and effective team boasting of array of world class stars! My only plea goes to NFF to allow this man a freehand to deliver on our expectations! He should be encouraged to scout for the best legs to fix the inadequacy of this present team! For me it is merit, merit and merit on who gets to play for the Super Eagles! So thanks to God there wouldn't be ethno-religious affiliation of the coach to any player which sets him apart from other Nigerian coaches! I wish him the very best on the job!
Which credentials convinced them? Men, why did NFF think a new coach was necessary in the first place? Austin Eguavoen and many others in Nigeria are probably better options. I have a long list in my head and can't understand why none of them fits NFF's desire.
Seriously speaking, l don't think that it is a wrong pick for the national team. At this point of Nigeria's world cup qualification struggles, a coach with African football experience is appropriate. Getting a foreign white coach will find African football very challenging because, the World Cup qualifying games are played with African teams. This coach having coached an African team and did well with Mali should do well with a more established team like the Super Eagles. Most people are aware of what usually happens when a foreign coach without African football experience comes into an African team. They struggle to get good results in their first five or six games with African football.
Well, the NFF has agreed to a bigger risk with Eric. This would be a big one if the NFF pulls this through. They had other options, and they felt this was the best. Some of us await to hear Amaju Pinnick on this one again. We do hope our football comes out stronger in the end. I stand with Austin on looking inside when you have a small budget.....
Eric Chelle former Malian coach, is below in the World Cup qualification where Ghana, Comoros, and even Madagascar are all above him. He won 1, drew 1, lost 2. We need a coach who has to win all his games to turn Nigeria's chance around, and our sports administration is giving us a coach that was sacked by Malian's football federation. Wetin bi dis nahhh.
🎉No disrespect to Eguavoen. The man has no business in football even when he was a player and now as a coach. Eguavoen had been in Eagles for years as a coach since 2000. Nothing to show. The man is just not it
@ambroseayodele9869 eguavoen is the reason nigeria didn't qualify for the World Cup last time ,he has proven to be tatically enept when it comes to high pressure games.
Maybe Eric is yet to reach his highest potentials in coaching I am sure someone must have seen something in him which everyone has missed. My second option is for NFF to all resign if Eric fails because they had enough time to search for a new coach. The players we have now are capable of reaching a world cup final since 1994.
You guys talk as if we haven't seen these local coaches. Equavoen couldn't take us beyond Round of 16 the last time. This guy has a better experience than Equavoen, and he's more tactical.
You don’t jurge him like that . His a very good coach that knows African football. Let’s just give him a chance . And his young too . Let’s give him a chance . He has a big task but he will do well . He has the passion which is good .
What's the whole noise about the hiring of this man, and I guess that's because he's not "white-skined". His team actually played the best football at the Afcon, but was just unfortunate and missed out on game management at the dying minute of the game against Cote d'Voire... after all, we both lost to the same team. The would have easily blazed through Nigeria if we met.
Chelle knowing the African football, has he won the trophy? Austin knows the African football more because he has done more and better than Chelle in the game as a player and as a coach. African countries hires Nigerian coaches and not Nigeria doing otherwise. They should have brought back Peserio
