Hi Teresa. The needle is called a felting needle. The large needle, I used to bring the thread across the head is a doll making needle. The wool, is batting wool, usually used for stuffing soft toys. I am based in Japan, so I got them all from a 100 yen shop, in the US it's like the dollar stores. These are also available in hobby, crafting, or art supply stores, or online.

Can't you attach this head to a cloth body without the armature?
Hi! Ofcourse you can. It totally depends on your preference. I wanted a poseable doll so I used armature.
